 | Vincent latest movie delayed? Despite a casting that includes Bruce Willis and Sharon Stone, 'Alpha Dog' might not be released this year, click to learn why. |
Despite a cast that includes Justin Timberlake, Bruce Willis, Sharon Stone and Emile Hirsch, director Nick Cassavetes' true-life crime drama Alpha Dog, about an alleged drug dealer, kidnapper and murderer whose real name is Jesse James Hollywood, is seeing its released thwarted for a few reasons, reports Variety. Hollywood is set to go to trial, and the film could cause legal problems, says the trade paper, which adds that the financier and the distributor of the film are feuding, causing Cassavetes to run out of money to finish the project.
According to Variety, the true story of Jesse James Hollywood, an alleged drug dealer accused of kidnap-murder, might be a bit longer before it gets the big screen treatment.
A movie based on the story called Alpha Dog was already being made by director Nick Cassavetes (John Q) with Bruce Willis in the starring role, but Cassavetes ran out of money while trying to complete the project. A feud has erupted between the film's distributor New Line and producer Sidney Kimmel about who should pay to finish the film.
In the meantime, the real Jesse James Hollywood was captured in Brazil and goes on trial soon. Not only does this mean that Cassavetes may have to do some rewriting and reshoots for the movie, but that New Line may not even be able to release the movie until after the trial is over.
Either way, its planned 2005 release is seeming unlikely at this point. (Alpha dog with Vincent Kartheiser)
