Amy on ALIAS, without THE UNIT & will she be Illyria again?

Kristin talked with her. She is in at least 3 episodes of "Alias" (Rachel Nichols stars as well), she talked about getting fired from "The Unit" and about a "Spike-Illyria"-movie!
About Alias:
[...]
Aside from the big Vaughn mystery, the fifth season also has some fantastic newcomers, including Rachel Nichols, Balthazar Getty and Amy Acker. "The new castmembers are strong and add interesting new qualities to the show," Abrams said. "It's the fifth year, and it is evolving, hopefully in a way people find compelling."

We Buffyverse die-hards are, of course, thrilled over the addition of Acker, whom I had the pleasure of catching up with this week. She told me she's starring in at least three episodes and said, " I hope there will be more!" She also revealed that although she has met Jennifer Garner, "who was so lovely," most of her scenes have been with Rachel. "I don't know what's gonna happen, but what we did so far, we're friends who work at this agency together. I think the Shed is what they were [calling it]. She's a rookie agent, and I have a little more experience than her, but we're best friends." (A funny twist given that a few months back, Rachel actually beat her out for the lead role on The Inside.)

You may have heard the speculation going around that these two new lovely ladies may be carrying the Alias torch without Jennifer Garner someday. "It could be a possibility, yes," Amy simply said. "I mean, they're calling Rachel's character sort of the new Sydney."

You may remember, Amy also was set to star on CBS' The Unit, but that fell through, and she admitted, "I was very, very upset. It was just a big surprise, because I'd had a lot of positive feedback from the producers. Shawn Ryan said he went to [CBS chairman] Les Moonves, who was the one, I guess, who didn't want me on it, and he didn't really have a reason, but you know, he didn't have to have one."

The upside? A new friendship with the man we Felicity fans know as Mr. Noel Crane. "Scott Foley and I became close from that experience," Amy said, "because he went out of his way to try to keep me on the show, even though we hardly worked together, except for like a kiss at the end. He called everyone and said he thought I should stay on it. So, I ended up making a new, really good friend."

Small world, eh?

And Good News for Angel Fans! Amy said Joss Whedon has spoken with her about resurrecting her role as Illyria. "He has mentioned it a couple of times," she told me. "I mean, the last time, I talked to him a couple weeks ago and said that I had heard that Tim Minear was gonna write and direct the Spike movie, the Spike-Illyria movie, so he said that they want to do that still. I think he's just overwhelmed a bit right now with the press for Serenity and everything!" She said she and Joss have stayed close, and he gave "the best gift ever" to her eight-month-old bundle of joy, Jack: "He had a woman come in and teach him how to sleep through the night." Always a miracle worker, that Joss.
