We were allowed to sent Shawna Trpcic, costume designer of Firefly and Angel some questions. |
Could you please explain your work on Firefly? How did you start to work on
an episode?After reading the script I would have the research dept at fox look up spacific images for me such as mud miners for Jaynes town etc. I woul;d put together boards of the images and do spacific sketches for main characters then show the whole deal to Joss or tim minear once they approved the images I would put them into the works having them made by the seamstresses and tailors atFox or by Jonathan Logan
Had Joss a specific vision, how his characters should look like, or did you
have some liberties? Both it was definatly a team effort he is a very giving leadere Tim minear had a great deal of influance too
Who is the best and the worsest dressed Character on Firefly? Best the entirte cast - worst the dead guy niska had handing in the torture rtoom
Anything, you are espeacially proud of? the entire series - it was such an honor and pleasure to work on that movie we were truly a team and I throurly enjoied myself
Firefly Styling was influenced by western and chinese. Which Style do you
prefer? Very much Both!!!!
Why did Simon wear vests in Firefly? Joss wanted Him very much a proper character very seperate form the rest of the gang - the vest was a good wat to do that
Did you designet Jaynes Tshirts? I compiled images that Dylan (a Production asst int he art dept) would put together and burn on a disk for me
Did you get involved with "Point Pleasant" because of Marti Noxon?
Yes
Which were the differences in working on "Angel", "Firefly" and "Point
Pleasant" and how different were the demands? Angel I answered primarly to the show runner Joss gave his opnion on Illyra - on Firefly Joss and Tim Minear were the main voice of input on Point Pleasant there were aboiut 12 people in charge of the look not one show runner - I had alot of freedom on angel and firefly so it was very creatively fulfilling
Is there a dream project, you would like to work on? more firefly, wonder woman - anything sci fi/fanatasy
Are you sad that you didnt designet "Serenity"?Very
Do you have a favorite episode?nope loved them all did enjoy the Bounty Hunter alot
What do you think about Operation Browncaot, where fans try to gift

Have you a curent project, you work for? had a baby 7 months ago so just getting bak into the business
