CBS Dominates Monday, ABC Premieres Struggle
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Fast National ratings for Monday, Jan. 9, 2006
CBS won every hour of primetime Monday to cruise to a ratings win, while ABC's post-"Monday Night Football" lineup fumbled its first time out.
For the night, CBS averaged a 10.1 rating/15 share among households. NBC finished second at 6.9/11. ABC's 5.3/8 was good for third, narrowly beating FOX's 5.2/8. The WB, 2.0/3, came in fifth, ahead of UPN, 1.9/3.
CBS also led among adults 18-49 with a 5.3 rating. NBC was second in the demographic with a 3.6, beating out ABC's 3.3 and FOX's 3.1. UPN and The WB tied for fifth at 1.1.
"The King of Queens," 7.9/11, and "How I Met Your Mother," 7.5/11, put CBS in the lead at 8 p.m. "Wife Swap" posted a respectable 7.1/11 for ABC. "Surface," 5.4/8, was third for NBC, while FOX went with a "House" rerun to finish fourth. The WB's broadcast of the Critics' Choice Awards earned a 2.1/3. UPN trailed with repeats of "One on One" and "All of Us."
The Eye stayed on top at 9 p.m. with "Two and a Half Men," 10.9/16, and "Out of Practice," 9.1/14. "Las Vegas," 7.8/12, moved NBC, into second, and FOX took third with another episode of "House," 5.6/8. ABC didn't make much noise with the premieres of "Emily's Reasons Why Not," 4.4/6, and "Jake in Progress," 4.0/6. The Critics' Choice Awards held onto fifth for The WB, beating "Girlfriends" and "Half & Half" on UPN.
At 10 p.m., "CSI: Miami" scored the night's biggest audience with a 12.7/20. "Medium" averaged 7.5/12 for NBC, and the premiere of "The Bachelor: Paris" came in at 4.7/7.
