Drew Goddard gets 'Lost'

Touchstone Television has signed "Alias", "Angel" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" writer Drew Goddard to a two-year overall deal with "Lost".
Seven-figure pactpact calls for Goddard to join the staff of Touchstone's "Lost," which, like "Alias," comes from exec producer J.J. Abrams. Goddard will begin work on "Lost" this summer once "Alias" wraps its ABC run.

While only 30, Goddard has worked on a trio of skeins with huge cult followings. Before "Alias," scribe was on the staff of Joss WhedonJoss Whedon's "Buffy" and "Angel."

Abrams said "Lost" will be "a better show" with Goddard aboard.

"Drew is a rare breed: a genre writer who crafts truly inspired characters and lyrical, emotional scenes," Abrams said.

Goddard will join the "Lost" staff as a supervising producer having already penned a freelance episode of the skeinskein. He wrote season one segseg "Outlaws," which explored the backstory of Sawyer (Josh Holloway).

Scribe said his writing style isn't very complicated.

"There's a simple formula to the kinds of scripts I write," he told Daily Variety. "Basically, people talk about their feelings, something explodes and/or a fight breaks out, more talking about feelings, someone bleeds to death and then everyone makes jokes about their pain."

UTAUTA-repped Goddard is penning the milestone 100th episode of "Alias." He's been on the show for the past two seasons, having started his career on "Buffy."

Goddard's contributions to "Buffy" and "Angel" elicited a strong response from the show's rabid fans, some of whom even started a Web site --DrewGoddard.com -- devoted to his work.
