Series premiere available on iTunes
February 21 2006
Eric Balfour of 'Conviction'LOS ANGELES --
The new Dick Wolf drama "Conviction" is scheduled premiere Friday, March 3 on NBC, but if you use iTunes, you can watch the show today.
NBC says it will offer the premiere episode of "Conviction" as a free download on the Apple music-and-video service, beginning Tuesday (Feb. 21) and running until the show's debut. After the show premieres, episodes will be available for the standard iTunes price of $1.99 each.
"We believe we have a youthful and energetic cast that should appeal to a new audience that is increasingly comfortable with this downloadable format as a viewing option," NBC CEO Jeff Zucker says. "The multi-platform efforts are a buzz-generator for certain shows such as 'Conviction,' and we want to proactively reach out to these viewers."
Networks have previewed a few shows online in the past, but sneak peeks at shows like "The Office" and "Supernatural" have usually come in the form of streaming video. NBC says "Conviction" will be the first series to debut on iTunes before its televised premiere.
"Conviction" follows a group of young prosecutors in the Manhattan district attorney's office, both in and out of the courtroom. The series from "Law & Order" creator Wolf stars Eric Balfour, Milena Govich, J. August Richards, Julianne Nicholson, Anson Mount, Jordan Bridges and former "SVU" regular Stephanie March.
