Visit Glory's apartment

The set that was the outside of Glory's apartment in "Buffy" is now opened for public.
The Castle Green at 99 S. Raymond Ave will be open to the public for tours on Sunday, June 11, from 1 to 5 p.m.

The tour will take place in the first-floor rooms – lobby, grand salon, solarium, Moorish and Turkish rooms, and Palm Terrace ballroom – where original furniture is featured prominently. The tour will include several private apartments, some never before seen on prior tours.

Proceeds from the $20 ticket price will benefit Friends of the Castle Green, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping restore and maintain this architectural treasure. Tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event.

Located in the heart of Old Pasadena, the Castle Green opened in 1899 as the second of three buildings in the Hotel Green complex. Architect Frederick L. Roehrig drew on Moorish, Spanish, Victorian and other stylistic elements. He blended domes, arches, pillars, balconies and verandas in a building of structural steel with brick walls and concrete floors, making it Pasadena’s first fireproof building.

Roehrig tied it to the original portion of the hotel complex, across the street, with an ornate enclosed bridge that crossed Raymond Avenue. Although the original building on the east side of the street is no longer standing, the west portion of the bridge remains today.

The Castle Green is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the State of California Historic Register and is an official City of Pasadena Treasure. It has been a popular setting for movies including “The Last Samurai,” “The Sting” and “Bugsy” and television shows including “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Alias.”

The Castle Green is located at 99 S. Raymond Ave. between Green and Dayton streets. For more information call 577-6765.
