These rumors won't die, but at the moment there are no SERENITY novels planned. Pocket has a contract to do two more novels, and they sent a dozen or so proposals to Universal a year ago. They were forwarded to Joss Whedon, and he has yet to reply. There will certainly be no books this year, as even if Joss replies tomorrow, the books won't be out until 2007.
As for BUFFY, my novel BLACKOUT will be out in the fall -- just in time for Dragon*Con, in fact, which I'll be attending -- and I'm hoping to announce another BUFFY novel soon, pending Fox's approval.
