 | Most anticipated... IGN have compiled a list of the top ten most anticipated comic book movies. Wonder Woman has made the list! Check it out ... |
The comic-based blockbusters of Summer '06, like Superman Returns and X-Men: The Last Stand, have already begun to fade from the pop cultural consciousness. And fandom is looking ahead, anticipating the excitement of comic book movies yet to come. We've taken the temperature of the many comic-to-film adaptations currently being made and have compiled a list of the 10 most anticipated. To be clear (so we aren't deluged with email complaints), this list does not include films like the Superman Returns sequel because it's really just speculation at this point. We're strictly counting down flicks that are already in production or some stage of legitimate development. There will also probably be some comic movie that you absolutely love that barely missed making the cut... Instead of firing off a vitriolic rant, just send us a nice email with your suggestions and reactions to our list. Because we care. It's what we do.
Let's count down the top 10 most anticipated comic book movies...
10: Ghost Rider
9: Wonder Woman
Joss Whedon is writing and will direct the Amazonian goddess' long overdue big-screen adventure for Matrix producer Joel Silver. Whedon has often grumbled to the press about how difficult it has been writing the script - bemoaning the character's origin story and her poor rogues' gallery - and has also clarified that no actress has been cast, despite all the contenders the rumor mill continues to conjure up (such as Kate Beckinsale, Mischa Barton and Charisma Carpenter).
8: Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer
7: Wolverine
6: TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
5: Iron Man
4: 300
3: The Dark Knight
2: Transformers
1: Spider-Man 3
