George Sarah Interview...
We (The Twins) had a little Q&A with George Sarah, who appeared in a few Buffy episodes and worked with Tony Head on Music for Elevators.... |
You had a lot "appearences" on Buffy and Angel... which one was the better experience?
George: I liked being on Buffy. I've appeared on three episodes. The food was always really good and it was on Buffy that I meet so many of the creative people on that show. And i was never on "Angel" they only used my music in a club scene.
How did you like the collaboration with Joss Whedon?
George: He's a great songwriter and to cover one of his songs was alot of fun. He wanted Anthony and I to do our own thing to it so
there wasn't any preasure.
Are you a Buffy/Angel-fan? If you are, which one is your favorite episode?
George: I like Buffy. My favorite episodes are season four "Wild at heart" and "Bad beer" and on season six "Hells bells".
"Overfire" is played on Buffy in the episode "Wild at Heart". But it was not performed by Sarah Folkman, but by Paige Moss ... It was something special... so, how did you like the transfer on Buffy?
George: Paige was lip syncing Sarah's voice. It was fun to work with Paige, she was really supportive of my music and by the time
Overfire was being used Sarah and I had stopped working together so in a way it was the only way this could happen.

How did the collaboration with Anthony Stewart Head materialize and how did you like it?
George: The collaboration started out as just simple rehearsels and after several weeks we had a whole albums worth of music.
It really was very easy and he's a real pro so it made the time in the studio very productive. He's not afraid to work 10 hours straight.
What´s your favorite song from "Music for Elevators" ?
George: Que'st ce que j'ai fait.

Do you know any other bands, who once appeared on Buffy and/or Angel? How did you like them?
George: Veikko Lepisto who played upright bass on "This town in the rain" on Music for elevators was on Buffy with his band "The Royal Crown Revue". I also like the Devics.
What do you think about the Buffy/Angel theme-song by Nerf Herder/ Darling Violetta?
George: I think Darling Violetta's theme is very beautiful.
To what music do you like to listen to? Any favorite bands?
George: I love classical. Bach, Samuel Barber, Arvo Part. I love electronic music. Aphex Twin, Bjork, and i've been listening to M83 and Postal Service.
Do you have any Idols?
George: Anyone who is honest.
Where do you enjoy composing more?? At quiet or loud places??
George: I like quiet places however it can get loud in my head.
Which feelings do you want to express with your songs?
George:There are two things. 1. That there is more to life than the present moment. I believe people have been fooled to believe that there is only the present moment. Thats why there is no more honesty, patience, compassion ect, ect. When people believe in only the "now" then it's like saying tomorrow is irrelevent. People have become obsessed with easier this and a faster that. Even in Art you see it. More people are playing music than making music. More people want instant talent then practice or rehearse. They think going out to a party is gonna make them famous instead of learning your equipment or learning your instrument whether it is a piano or your voice. You have books like "The artist way" which makes you believe there is a method. People don't want to believe that creative expression is a gift cause then they will be faced with knowing they can't be a celebrity.
2. Love. Not just in the love as in "Lust" but also "Agape".
And how do you feel while writing them?
George: For the most part it's very normal. Sometimes my subsconcious takes over so i'm not here. Sometimes it's divine intervention. Sometimes it's like having a conversation with someone. It's hard for me to communicate with certain people so it's much easier to speak in music. Unfortunately they don't know it's about them.
Describe your work with three words.
George: Minor key introspection.
What´s the most embarrissing thing that has ever happened to you?
George: It happens all the time. it starts off by me asking a girl a question like "Would you like to go out"? Or "Do you have a boyfriend"?
