Buffy is sent to a dimension where she and spike are together

Ok I read this years and years ago, probably one of the first fics I ever read actually... All I remember is that Buffy wakes up in her house in Sunnyd with spike in her bed and she is proper confused since she fell asleep alone. In this alternate reality Buffy is with spike and they live together ( have done so for a while actually and are madly in love). I believe that at one point alternate dimension Buffy and real Buffy meet and have a chat about loving spike. I also seem to recall that Buffy decides to give spike a chance after living in this alternate dimension where they're together... I dunno very vague details I know... I can only recall just bits and pieces.

Just to warn you, in case it bothers you, the sequel has a really significant Spike/OtherKnownCharacter aspect to it that spoilt it for me personally. I don't want to give details in case others want to read it and don't mind, but I found it far beyond an average 'other' inclusion. I really liked the first story though.

There's "Another Diabolical Plot Gone Awry" by msclawdia. I don't remember the Buffies meeting but it fits the switch part.

You know, I forgot all about that aspect. It was discomforting, but it is a very dark fic.

I'm not opposed to dark fics at all, it wasn't really that which caused the problem for me as I think the pairing issue sits quite separately to that, mostly because it is a sequel. I think personally the issue is two things, that the background was going to be used again but the characterisation jumps to go with the plot in the sequel are like reinventions, same setting with different versions of the characters. Also, the 'other' pairing is not one I feel sits well in the slightest against a supposedly Spuffy-centred storyline either and again, as a sequel, that stood out starkly. I'm sure some won't mind but it is such a shift from the first story I would have liked a warning on it. Whether you then choose to read it or not will definitely vary greatly with people's preferences.
