LA has been sent to hell post-NFA, like in the comics. The scene I remember has Spike, who is starving and in really bad shape, fighting off a demon to save someone. I think the person winds up dying there in the street and Spike considers drinking their blood but becomes sickened by the idea. I believe Buffy and maybe a team of Slayers are in LA-hell also, and Buffy is looking for Spike. Thanks in advance!

Thanks so much, Skipper! That's the one. I couldn't find it because I kept searching for fics I'd marked as "read" and for some reason I stopped reading at chapter 13 on December 15, 2015. It was still on my bookshelf. Weird...
