There was a ring....

I can't remember many details and I may even be mushing two or more stories together, but Buffy was either under a love spell, or had amnesia, or something that influenced her behavior and she and Spike got together. He had gotten an apartment and she'd been staying there with him. She'd been wearing a ring of his, maybe they were either married or engaged? Anyway, the spell wore off and the way Spike found out was he found her ring on top of a bureau in their bedroom.

I think the rings had magical properties to them so that as long as they were wearing them they could find the other person but I *may* be pulling that in from another fic. The strongest thing I remember was how devastated he was when he saw her ring on the bureau.

That may be rescue me by brat. I dont know about the magical rings cause this was an all human fic. There was also a fic by marypeck or dreamweaver about buffy switching body with her future self who gives spike a ring.

Sure wish someone had good info on this story - one that I would like to read.

That sounds vaguely familiar.... Was it a randy and Joan fic where they had no memory? They lived together etc and then the memories came back and she left him sleeping in their apartment?

In A Gem of A Soul by Baphrosia/Spuffy Luvr they get married and they have "homing" rings that allow them to find each other. Check out Chapter 56 and see if that's what you're thinking of...
