Before the Comics

Fanfiction that takes place before the comics begin, but still incorporates the elements and plots of Season Eight.

"Yeah, you're not the one and only Chosen anymore. Just gotta live like a person. How's that feel?" Only a year ago, the world was full of promises for Buffy Summers and her friends. After winning the battle against the First and his army, they had the luxury to fantasize about a normal life, at least for a short while. But now, old and new enemies have allied to squash that dream, Hell bent on tipping the scale back on the side of evil. There is no such a thing as a break for the Slayer, and the Scoobies should have known better. There is one thing the bad guys hadn't counted on though: the love of a vampire for his Slayer.

The events of the S8 comics are obliquely mentioned, but they didn't actually happen. Buffy's not in a good place. Dawn suspects Spike can help.

The Public Face by Quinara.
Xander gets a phone call in the middle of the night, which leads him to witnessing a reunion he's not sure he wants to see. Takes place after The Girl in Question.

Strangers by Sosa Lola.
Grief pushes Buffy to do something really stupid. Now she has to deal with the consequences. Things get more complicated when she discovers that Spike is no longer dead. Starts in the eighth of February 2005. Buffy, Xander and their Slayers are living in a castle in Scotland.
