Loved it!
I almost didn't read it as I don't often read holiday fic, but I'm glad I did. And when I decided to read it, I didn't know which holiday/tradition the story was to center around.
I've actually participated in a St. Lucia's Day ceremony, and have seen a few Lucia's. One, I recall solved the problem with a crown made with candles lit by tiny twinkling white Xmas lights, powered by a tiny battery pack hidden by her collar.
BTW, a few yrs ago for Xmas, Mr. Frisky gave me a pair of cockatiels, pale yellow in color, that I named Lugh and Lucia...
I loved that Anya claimed to be responsible for the tradition, and hey, who doesn't dig a good martyring?
Also loved the inclusion of Spike's sojourn in Scandinavia with Dru, along with his knowledge of the tradition (probably made it easier to find prey with lights on their heads!).

Author's Response: Wow! I'm so happy you did read it. It seemed like the kind of thing Anya would have been interested in... I was Lucia once and the wax wasn't fun, but also not too bad to deal with, but the crown was so heavy... The twinkling Christmas lights would have been a good way to go too.

I liked this! It was fun to read about the Lucia tradition this way, but I can't help but think about how silly it actually is (even though I'm from Sweden myself and have watched "Lucia" with her Lucia girl attendants lots of times). I mean, put candels in your hair, dress in white and go sing christmas songs... but its rather beautiful at least.

This was totally cute and enjoyable to read. :) I really liked it! Learned about Saint Lucia Day from the American Girl books (haha) so it made me go "aww" and remember being a little kid to read this. :) Spike was characterized well, Buffy was characterized well... they ALL were. Liked the change with Willow and Tara-- season 6 might have turned out so differently if Tara's positive presence was around more. :( Basically, loved this fic! :)
