pj! I remember wishing one of your stories would be finished seriously about a decade ago. Amazing. I just tried an old password I used to use and amazingly got in too. Memories!

~****~

As I walk through the night, the air seems thicker now and the night all the more darker.
The soft grass is crushed beneath my feet and as I walk through the trees the leaves rustle.
My light is gone now and there is no way to get her back.

She was the light in my dark existence that burn so brightly.
Now she is nothing more than a mere flicker of a memory.

I look to the stars wondering why she was taken from this earth.
She had done so much good already and there was so much more she could do.

I stop suddenly...and waited

"I knew you would come" a soft voice from behind me said

Not turning to face her I respond "I'll always come" Though I cannot see her, I knows that she is smiling softly at me.

She begins to walk towards me, her soft steps can be heard by the rustling of grass beneath her feet. Even though she did not stop to stand beside me, the women dressed in white knelt before her own grave tracing the letters carved in stone with a gentle hand.

"I miss you" she says still not turning to face me.

"I wish I knew then, what I know now" with that said she turns to me, unshed tears in her eyes.

I just smile softly at her and she smiles back. She then rises and walks toward me holding out her hand. I instantly pull her into my arms inhaling her scent. She pulls back slightly but does not leave my embrace.

A soft hand is raised to my face tracing my features "Oh William, how did we get here" she asked softly

Letting my eyes flutter close at the feel of her touch, I answer just as softly "Same way as always kitten, scenic route." my lip quirks a bit and she laughs softly.

I open my eyes to find her staring right back at me, the love she never acknowledge when she was alive shining through. Before I know what is happening she is kissing me. It's a soft, sweet and gentle kiss, it was perfect.

Eventually the kiss ends and I look down at her and smiling gently and she returns my smile. Though all to soon that beautiful smile fades and is replaced with a look of longing. I know now that we don't have much time left.

I pull her into my arms again and lead her into a simple waltz; she falls easily into step with me. Though there is no music we dance anyway under the night sky with the stars looking down upon us.

All to soon our dance has ended and once again I am alone. Just before turning to leave I kneel down and place two long stem roses before the stone, one white and the other red as blood.

As I turn to leave I hear a voice off in the distance and though it is soft the message still reaches me.

"We will dance again one day, my William"

Now with a bit a spring in my step and slight smile on my face, her words ring through my mind.

'We will dance again one day, my William'
