“Stick ‘em up in the air, buster. I wanna see exactly where you put those disgusting hands at all times. You make me sick!”

Detective Constable Buffy Summers spat at the crim she held at gun point. After three months she had caught the bastard. The three most important months of her life. She had changed, become a woman, grown some balls and finally took down this bad ass. Even though she’d been asleep the whole time.

Three months earlier

Buffy Summers had recently been made Detective in her precinct. She was the youngest and she was the only female but she was a tough piece of work and no one gave her any troubles otherwise she’d put them right in their place. Buffy deferred her social life in lieu of her career, wanting to further herself as one of the best detectives in the city, if not the state. She had a dead mother and a baby sister and all she wanted to do was make sure both were looked after properly. Every Monday afternoon, when her shift ended, she’d drive to one of the Sunnydale cemeteries and pay respects to her mother, told her about the week and the most recent reason why her sister had been in trouble. Buffy asked desperate questions and looked to the sky for her mother to answer. But she got none.

It was a quiet spring afternoon and Buffy stood once again in front of her mother’s grave. Her hair was sprawled around her, tendrils flying in the breeze, and her eyelids closed against the harsh, cold pain that the headstone brought. She knew she was a masochist but she needed to see the stone to remind her she needed to live.
“Mom, what am I going to do? If Dawn doesn’t stop partying, she’ll be taken away. I’ve told her time and time again. But she won’t listen. Two years and she’ll be an adult. What can I do? I don’t know where I want to be in life, where I will be in those two years, but I know without a doubt they’ll be doubly worse if she’s taken away.

“I know what you would be thinking now Mom. You’d look at me with that stern resolve face and ask am I really where I want to be? Am I lonely? Yes. But I have Dawn, and I can’t afford to lose her and if I find someone to let into my heart, I’ll…I’ll end up losing them as well. But I love my job and it’s just too dangerous to have a liability.

“Of course they’ll be a liability Mom, I’m a freaking detective and I want to be the best, so that’ll mean lots of enemies from both sides of the law cutting at my throat. Mom, I don’t know what to do.”

Tears leaked from the corners of her closed eyes and she placed a kiss to the daisy she had plucked from a nearby garden and placed it upon the tombstone.

Buffy drove the two hours back to LA in silence, the tears still soundlessly streaming down her face. Little did she know, someone had been in her home while she was in Sunnydale.

****

William Montgomery Pratt had transferred over from Interpol when his wife had left him. She told him, crazily, that he needed sunshine. He didn’t argue: he came straight to California. Seems like his ex-wife was right, according to all the jibes he got from his fellow cops about the paleness of his skin. He’d got to LA, met with his uncle in what was probably the only real museum in the superficial city, and settled in a little flat inside the perimeter of his precinct.

Now, paired with the youngest, least experienced fireball of a partner, Detective Summers, he was head over heals in love. As soon as he saw her in the unseemly uniform his cock jumped through the roof. He knew she’d look great in anything but that Constable uniform turned him on to no end. That was the day she was told about her promotion. She held herself like she was ‘the chosen one’ and walked through the offices as if she was a leader of an army against the first evil. And he was totally, inexplicably in awe of her beauty and in complete lust. That was until she started yelling at him on their first case. If he thought he’d been longing for her before that moment when the heat rose in her cheeks and the blaze blared through her green eyes and all her attention was completely directed at him for that one moment of existence: he fell in love on the spot. So he made her pissed at every possible moment.

“Come on, love, get your bloody arse out of bed, we need to be out at the wharves two hours ago. I don’t care if you are off duty or not.”

Will knocked on the door and got no answer. Her little sis was probably asleep or still out from a big night against her sister’s wishes and Will hoped like hell that the nibblet would listen to Buffy one day soon. He knew the systems back to front, if the kid kept up the crap behaviour she’d be shifted off to some family in the ‘burbs and Buffy would be broken. And he couldn’t have that.

“Summers, we’re late. You’re never late! Buffy!”

He knew something was wrong, a tingly feeling in the back of his neck was telling him that much and that feeling normally meant something was direly wrong. And if had anything to do with Buffy, he’d knock the fucking door of its hinges to get to her.
So he did just that.

****

Buffy would have looked angelic if she wasn’t so cold. Her lips were tinged blue and her eyes were strangely open.

“Oh my god, Buffy, can you hear me? Buffy, love, I need you to wake up.” He knelt beside her still body and checked her pulse and breathing. Both were regular. William instantly flipped his phone and called the medics then quickly called Dawn home.

She arrived before the ambulance.

“What happened? Is she okay? William, tell me what’s going on?”

Dawn walked into her shared bathroom to see a man who’d lost his soul, crying has he hugged her sister to his chest.

“Oh god.” Dawn whispered and quickly sat next to him.

“William, please tell me what happened. Are the paramedics coming?”

He nodded and tried to wipe away his tears that fell on Buffy’s beautiful blonde hair.

Dawn could hear him chanting a mantra but wasn’t close enough to hear.

It was the only thought that could go through his head.

‘It’s going to be alright because I love her. It’s going to be alright because I love her. It’s going to be alright because I love her.’

“Is she breathing? Has she got a pulse?” He nodded as he heard her questions and tightened his grip on the cold body as he heard a thump up the stairs.

The paramedical team arrived and had to wrench Buffy away from William before the zoomed off to the hospital.

****

William went to work after finding out that Buffy was comatose. He had stayed with Dawn in the hospital waiting room, his eyes bloodshot from releasing salty tears and his feet pacing. The doctors had made sure she was stable before declaring she was in a coma, possibly never to awaken again. Now they just had to diagnose her. William’s back of the neck tingly feeling hadn’t left so he knew there was some investigating to do. He drove Dawn back to the Summers sisters’ apartment and made her promise to behave until Buffy awoke.

First he asked whether they had eaten anything out of the ordinary or whether there was anything strange or new in the apartment. Dawn told William the only new thing was a box of moisturiser Buffy must have bought the day she…Dawn didn’t finish the sentence for fear of the fury on William’s face.

William instantly drove to Restfield Cemetery in Sunnydale. He knew Buffy was a slave to routine and he had once followed her on her Monday afternoon off to the cemetery. She had gotten a death threat and he told her to expect him to be everywhere she went until the culprit was found and arrested. William didn’t know it but Buffy had never felt safer than that week when he trailed her as her silent protector.

All William found was a wilting daisy lying upon Joyce Summers tombstone so he proceeded back into the centre of the little town and questioned everyone he saw. The people who had seen her, spoken to her knew nothing, only that she seemed a little sad and had ordered a mug of black coffee to go. William felt lost, he hardly knew who to turn to next. So he started to speak to the rest of the homicide team, asking what they knew of Buffy before he met her and what or who could have caused this.
After going through the ranks and find nothing, he finished with Detective Riley Finn. William had been itching for the day to punch the bastard in the mouth but he knew there was something the farm-boy could divest about Ms Summers.

“Yeah we dated but she’s too closed off. Doesn’t care about anyone but her sister, you know that. I was in love with her, still am a bit. Don’t tell my wife that.”

“Come on Finn, there has to be at least one crim who has a serious grudge against her.”

“There was Rayne but that was a few years back and he’s probably still in jail. It’s not like Buffy was really the one to put him away, but he focused all his aggression towards her.”

“Do you think he could pull anything from inside with his connections?”

“Nah, he’s been in solitary for years now. He’s loppy, raves about demons and something about a chaos eye and creepy candy. I swear I heard that he started calling one really, really ugly bloke Fyral and that’s why he's now in sol.”

“Thanks Finn.”

“Yeah. Just, don’t go looking for something if there is nothing there. I hate to think that it was something natural since those docs can’t come up with a diagnosis, but…not everything’s a police investigation Pratt.”

William walked away from his colleague. The white-bread detective had never been nothing but hostile towards him. He shook off trying to figure out why and his mind instantly skipped back to Buffy.

****

Captain Liam ‘Angel’ Brow, called Angel for his long time protection of the precinct, called William into his office. He was an Irish American man of large bulk and forehead with hair that only looked fine when it was covered with his uniformed hat.

“Detective Pratt, what do you think you are doing?”

“I’m investigating the assault on Detective Summers.”

“Why don’t you leave that up to the sergeants? We have plenty of cases that need Detectives running them.”

“I don’t want to, with respect Captain but Detective Summers is part of our team and her recovery and case should be our top priority.”

“We can’t do anything about her recovering, William.” He said softly.

Captain Brow looked up at the detective he would have groomed as his protégé if he wasn’t so damn British and thoughtless and his eyes hardened immensely.

“Buffy is very important to us, here, but you have a job to do.”

“And I’m fucking doing it. If you sodding leave me to it.”

“William, you know Buffy. She was probably working too hard and stress overtook her body or it was a natural thing long coming.”

“Next you’ll bloody tell me that deadly bloody moisturised killed my GIRL!”

“Your girl?”

“I mean my partner.”

“Everyone knows you are in love with her, Pratt.”

“Bloody sodding shit, it was the fucking moisturiser.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Captain Brow’s face drew into a deadly glare.

“I got it, I figured it out. Now I just gotta figure out who did it.”

****

“Dawn, where’s that bloody moisturiser?”

Dawn quickly threw on her dressing gown and padded to the door.

“Why are you knocking on my door so freaking early?”

William pushed passed Dawn into the apartment and went straight into the bathroom where he found Buffy. God, he hadn’t seen Buffy in days. He’d been so wrapped up in trying to find out what happened to her after she finished her shift that Monday that he hadn’t been to the hospital in a month. He knew through phone calls from Dawn and the doctors that there had been no change. He kept repeating his mantra: everything would be fine because he loved her. It had to be okay because Dawn’s school fees had to be paid. At the moment, William was feeding her. He’d come over three nights a week and cook her dinner and made sure she had enough groceries for the rest of the week. She’d been on a strict no pizza diet because William knew Buffy wouldn’t grant her little sister to such a fatty substance.

“William, why are you rummaging around in my bathroom?”

“Where was that new box of moisturiser that Buffy bought that day? You haven’t been using it have you?”

“No, we have different skin types, I have my own. You still haven’t answered any of my questions.”

“Please Dawn, this is very important. Where. Is. The. Moisturiser?”

“In. The. Cupboard. Dumbass.”

“Oi, you can’t bloody curse.”

“You just bloody cursed yourself, mate.”

William gave up and turned back to the cupboard, triumphantly holding the opened tub and the four other little pots of crème.

“Now, did you throw out the garbage?”

“Yes.” Her answer was too quick and too sheepish to be true.

“God bless your laziness, nibblet. Do you remember what box the crème came in?”

She nodded and went to sort through the trash to find it.

“What has this got to do with anything, Will?”

Dawn found the crumbled cardboard and William carefully removed it with a plastic bag to stop any more fingerprints from appearing over the disgusting soggy paper box.

“I’m off to save your sister.”

****

When William arrived at the hospital Buffy’s room was occupied. Her two oldest friends who he’d met a few times were seated on either side, softly chatting as if she was awake, each holding one of her hands tightly in their own. He sighed and stepped across the threshold and the boy and girl looked up in surprise.

“Willow, Xander.”

“Hey mate, how’s the investigating coming along? Having a bit of trouble without the Buffster?” The cheery tone coming out of the boy-whelp’s voice was forced.

“Yeah,” William said softly. As he walked closer, he could see the tear tracks down the red headed girl’s face.

“Hey Red, how you doing?”

“About as well as you.” William jumped when he saw the timid blonde sitting in the corner. Willow’s girlfriend Tara could always see through any façade, especially William’s as it was currently verging on breaking any second. “You have bags under your bloodshot eyes and your hair hasn’t been washed for days. They smell like clothes you have left on for more than 42 hours and you look more gaunt than usual.”

“Thanks love, you look good too.” He plopped onto the chair next to hers and his eyes drew to Xander’s. William knew the kid blamed him for Buffy’s current state.

“Hey whelp, could you hit the buzzer? I need to speak to the doc.”

“Nurse said he’d be here in half an hour.”

“Yeah well nurse said she’d awake when I first brought her in and that hasn’t happened yet. Hit the buzzer.” Willow shot Xander a look and he did as was bid.

****

“So you think it’s the moisturiser?” Xander asked incredulously.

“Well, the doc here said anything that was new in her life and I freaking knew her life back to bloody front and I went through every lead to every place she’d been that day and the bloody moisturiser was the only new thing.”

“I’ll take a look at it straight away. Find out what’s in it and if she’s anyway allergic. I told you before Detective Pratt, my boss is the best diagnostician in the country.”

William sighed and looked over the kid doctor. Looked like he’d come from a white-bread family in Australia.

“Thanks Doc.”

“Thanks Doctor Chase.” The others echoed before William swept out of the room, on his way to the precinct. He had some forensics to fry.

****

“I don’t know what you are expecting to find, buddy. Or how long you think this will take but I’ll need at least a week just to find out some real evidence IF, and that is a big if, there is any.”

William had strolled right into the offices of the Doctor Jonathon Levison and his team of forensic scientists. His bugs and slugs guy, Andrew, had taken the dirty cardboard straight out of his hands and went to work on it, leaving William with the other doc.

“Whatever mate, just do what you can. It’s the only lead I got. Me girl’s future may be depending on it.”

“How’s she doing Detective?”

“Stable, whatever the hell that means. That chit was and will never be stable.”

Jonathon nervously chuckled and patted the older man on the back.

“Hey, we’ll find something.”

William left a tiny bit hopeful for the first time in weeks.

****

He was with Buffy when she fell, thumped her head on the basin, and now she was stone cold dead. But there was nothing he could do, see, ’cause it was a dream and he knew it was a dream but that didn’t stop him from screaming in terror as he awoke. God, he felt like he was close to something. The tingly feeling had been steadily getting worse and worse and Jonathon had only called yesterday to tell him they had pieced together an address from the wreckage of the cardboard box.

William had been right; it was the moisturiser with extra deadly poison that had caused Buffy’s coma. The docs had called and confirmed the diagnosis the day before. It was proof and now he had something to show Captain Brow that this was definitely an investigation. Even though he’d been looking around for clues for almost two months now.
But the dream was telling him he had to see her, had to make sure she was still alright.

He knew the hospital visiting times definitely didn’t include three am, but the feeling in the back of his neck was so strong that he sped to the hospital and smashed through the front doors. He ran up the stairs as fast as his legs could take him and up into her ward. He rounded the corner and softly pushed away the nurse who tried to stop him from entering Buffy’s room.

There, standing over her bed was a man dressed in solely black, his dark mask covering his face as he held the pillow over Buffy’s beautiful face.

“Get the hell away from her, you fuck.”

William lunged and the man skipped past him, pushing the nurse to the floor in his hurry to get away. William knew he should have given chase, but he needed to know Buffy was alright. He looked at the monitors she was hooked up and watched as her heartbeat slowly normalised.

“Who’d you know?” The nurse managed to stand and walk over to the bed and looked at William, astonished.

“She’s the woman I love. I’ll always know when she’s in trouble.” The nurse teared up as the broken man held onto the sleeping girl’s hand like a life raft was to a Titanic victim.

“You can stay if you want, just in case he comes back.”

“Thanks love, now check and make sure she’ll definitely be alright after you made sure you are alright.” The nurse blushed at the little attention and fixed her sight on her patient.

****

William burst in with what was a SWAT team of his colleagues into what appeared to be an abandoned house.

“Stop what you are doing, hands in the air, everyone, freeze.”

Commands and screams filled the air as the workers were slowly hauled off into the prisoner trucks.

The factory was making, boxing and storing millions of tubs of the poisonous moisturiser and the assembly line workers were basically cultists, doing as they were told by their leaders.

The two leaders in charge of the workers were resistant to tell William anything about their boss.

But he’d soon find out.

****

The rest of the precinct had opted to call him Spike since the interrogations of the leaders of the Paper Street Body Products Company. A few threats of railroad spikes to the head and a hunk of philosophising later, William had wrung a phone number out of the brunette leader.

It wouldn’t lead too much, he knew, but it was somewhere. And if somewhere brought the bastard who had stolen away his girls’ spirit to him, justice would be served.

He was nearing the end, and the back of his neck was on fire.

He was raring to go out on the hunt. That was, until his phone rung.

****

William burst into the hospital with all the vigour he had a few short weeks ago when he’s saved Buffy in the middle of the night. It had been three months since she’d been in the coma and only now was her brain showing prominent and permanent signs of activity.

William jogged to her room, ready to call Dawn and Buffy’s friends if the doc had more to say. The nurse was checking on the drip that was plugged into Buffy’s arm when he arrived at her door.

“Could I have a couple minutes alone with her?”

The nurse nodded and he took her position, holding Buffy’s hand and whispering to her closed eyes.

“Hello, love. Good to see you finally got your brain working again. I’m going to talk to the doctor in a couple of minutes, see what it all means. But, I gotta tell you, I think I found him. I got his number of the squibs who were running the factory and I’m sure the bloke at the top of all this is at the end of that number. If only you’d wake up and help me bring the fucker down.”

William sighed, knowing that it was good for him to talk to her and probably doubly as good for her to hear him now her brain was working mostly properly again.

“I love you Buffy.” William knew he was taking advantage but he needed her subconscious to know, truly know how he felt, so closed his eyes and he pressed his lips softly against hers.

Buffy’s eyes fluttered open.

****

‘William?’ She tried to say but her mouth felt glued shut.

He sat back to look at her one last time. His eyes bulged when he saw her looking into them.

“Oh my god, Buffy! Nurse! NURSE! DOCTOR!” William roared and went to walk out of the room but a small hand grasped his arm.

“Oh shit, sorry love, you just woke up and I’m screaming and do you need a glass of water?” His sentences ran together quickly but she seemed to understand and nodded.

He gently calmed down, pouring the water into the little cup and placing it against her dry lips. She gasped and looked around.

“William? What am I doing in a hospital? How long have I been asleep?”

He surprised Buffy by bursting into tears, tears that wracked his lean, exhausted body.

“Oh god Buffy, I’m so glad you are awake. I’m so glad you’re okay, love.”

“William, tell me how long I’ve been asleep.” He chuckled when he heard her stern voice. Awake two seconds and she was already ordering him around. He brushed the tears and grabbed her hand.

“Three months, love. You’ve been in a coma.”

“I’VE BEEN IN A COMA! HOW THE HELL CAN YOU SAY THAT SO BLAS…LY?”

“Love, we’re in a hospital.”

“I don’t care if we’re in a freaking funeral.” She muttered and he laughed again, the first time in all these long months. “What happened William?”

“You were poisoned and I’ve just about found the bad guy, just waiting for you to wake up to help me bring him down.”

“Good.” She settled herself awkwardly on the back pillows and he instantly jumped up to help her.

He leant over, rearranging to her liking, his scent so strong she let out a string of curses.

“Fucking hell, Pratt you stink.”

“Thanks ever so much, love.” He sunk back with a smirk though his mind still fixated on the gentlest of kisses he’d placed on her lips moments before she awoke.

“William? Do you really?” His eyes flew up from her mouth to her big green plates of eyes. Her voice was completely full of hope and he struggled for a second on what she was referring to.

“What do you mean?”

“Do you love me?”

****

The first two months of the coma had Buffy in the land of black. Nothing, not a damn peep was going on in her brain. She was swimming in the endless oceans of darkness and nothing until one evening, she couldn’t breath. And her imagination deep within her subconscious blew up in her mind. Everything felt alive again, every nerve, every bone, every hair. And in a few seconds, it would all go away and she’d go past the land of nothing and become specks of dust in the wind. But her suffocation ended and her lungs expanded with the air she could inhale. And her mind was working, albeit very slowly. And then she could hear again, something she felt like she’d lost forever. And she heard the best words in the world.

‘The woman I love.’ The darkness was bombed with bright colours of happiness and passion, red roses blooming from purple fields of grass and pink clouds filling the once dark sky. And there, in the world of strange dreams, she had a handsome blonde Detective holding her and telling her he loved her. And much to her surprise, she loved him back.

****

William had frozen in his chair. He shouldn’t tell her, not after she had just woken up. She probably had too much on her mind right now as it is. She was probably thinking about Dawn and her friends.

‘The damn whelp had no place in her brain’, he thought.

“William, will you please answer me so you can kiss me again.”

The freeze very quickly defrosted and his mind went on overdrive, frying every nerve and biochemical in his body.

“William?”

‘God, Buffy, I’ve loved you since the moment you were first angry with me.’ He thought but he didn’t get to say as word as the doctor walked in.

“Seems like our patient is back with the conscious. How are you feeling, Ms Summers?”

“Very nervous, Doctor…Ah?”

“Chase.”

“When will I be released, Doctor Chase?”

“You’ll have to stay and rest for a while and we won’t know how long until we’ve run a few tests to make sure you are completely back to normal.”

“I’ve said it before, chit was never normal.” William mumbled under his breath but both Buffy and the doctor caught it so Buffy only retaliated in the way that was natural.

“Could you run a few tests on William? Seems like he’s talking to himself, he may have a mental condition or be clinically insane.”

The doctor chuckled and left the room after fiddling with knobs and dials and intravenous lines.

“Will you answer my question now?”

“Yes.”

“Was that the answer to my question or the question I just posed?”

“Yes.”

“Argh! William Pratt, you are impossible. I swear you were kissing me when I woke up. But it could have just been the dreams.”

William coughed, choking on the nothingness in his throat that was caused by her simple words.

“Buffy, love, what dreams? Where you dreaming about me?”

For the first time in the history of the world, Buffy Summers blushed. It took William so much by surprise that he forgot himself for a moment. Then he picked his sorry mind out of catatonia and smoothed away the blush from her face with his fingertips.

“I do, Buffy. I’ve loved you since the first time you were mad at me.” The impossible blush rose upon her cheeks again.

“I think I’m in love with you too.” She whispered and his lips instantly caught hers.

“What the hell do you think you are doing, taking advantage of a comatose girl?” Came the sound of an irate woman in the doorway.

****

“Umm, no longer comatosey Buffy! Awakey Buffy!”

Willow rushed over to the other side of the bed, her eyes wide with shock.

“Buffy! OH MY GODESS! Buffy, you’re awake! And kissing William!”

William blushed and stood to refill Buffy’s water glass.

“Wasn’t taking advantage, Red. She asked for it.”

Willow raised her eyebrows in suspicion and looked back at Buffy. Buffy nodded with a grin on her face.

“I was just coming in for my weekly talk and here you are all awake and stuff. And with the kissing.”

“I’m going to leave you two ladies to catch up. I’m going to call Dawn.”

“Oh my god Dawn. How horrible a sister am I! I completely forgot about her.”

“You just woke up, love. Won’t be too long.”

He disappeared out into the corridor and leant against the wall.

‘Holy shit, she loves me.’

****

Buffy was wheeled out of the hospital three days later, even though the doctors discouraged her swift exit.

“I’m a poisoned cop whose partner has just found the perpetrator. I’m getting out of here now,” Was her swift reply.

William surprised Buffy when he arrived with Dawn to take her home. Especially when he told her about the amount of time he’d been spending with Dawn. The green eyed monster almost took a round out upon her sister until Dawn picked up on what the vibes Buffy was intensely sending her way.

“I’m not trying to steal your man Buffy. In fact he’s kinda like a dad to me.”

“Oi!

Buffy giggled as she watched the two interact and suddenly found herself with her problems solved. She still felt like it was only a few days since she had spoken to her mother’s grave, asking for answers to her seemingly impossible problems. But in three months, she’d found them. She wasn’t alone, her partner was certainly proclaiming to be a partner in all senses of the word, and her sister had stopped acting like a sixteen year old and had grown up, well just a little bit judging by stupidness of what she and William were talking about.

“I swear he was like a freaking yeti. I still can’t believe you jumped on his back.”

“Well, he was making a pass at you and I wasn’t to have that.”

“Pff, I’m almost seventeen. I need boys to make passes at me if I ever want a boyfriend.”

“You’re not going near another boy until you’re 30.”

“Oh, you are so childish. I’m a woman with needs.”

“Yeah, you need to be locked in your bedroom for 13 years.”

Buffy giggled and William looked at her, the light pouring in through the car windows and enveloping his smiling face. She loved him, and that in itself was a revelation. Every time his eyes shone with everlasting love in her direction, her mind screamed ‘I’m loved and I LOVE SOMEBODY!’ It felt strange, to wake up and see somebody you’ve known (and bickered with) for a long while in a completely different light that just seemed to have a faulty switch you’d had trouble fixing. Buffy woke up and loved. But it still felt weird, like she knew William but didn’t and wanted to find out so much more.

His car pulled up outside their apartment building and Dawn announced as soon as Buffy’s endless flowers and gifts had been moved into the flat that she was going over to Willows, promising Buffy she wasn’t lying. Buffy looked suspicious until Willow arrived and immediately hugged her, whispering in her ear, “So you can do some chatting with William”.

The door clicked behind the retreating forms of Dawn and Willow. Buffy turned around slowly, finding William standing five metres away from her with his hands in his pocket and the cutest little pout on his face.

“What happens now? Where do we go from here?”

Buffy shrugged before crossing the distance with the speed of lightning, throwing herself into his arms.

She kissed every section of bare skin showing: his ear, then the part right behind his ear, his fingers, palm, wrists, elbows, other side of the elbow, the little v of chest at the top of his black clinging shirt, his neck at the back, front and sides, under his chin, his chin, his cheeks, cheekbones, his forehead, his nose and finally found the corners of his mouth.

“Don't ya think we should take this slowly?”

She shook her head and jumped up onto his body, her legs wrapping around his highly sharp hips forcing him into the wall. Her hands grabbed his head and stopped his retaliatory kisses.

“I love you William. And I want you now.”

“Then let’s do this properly.”

****

He had washed her sheets. He was a freaking god. What man washes his comatose love’s sheets? Her man. Buffy almost giggled except she was too far gone alone the tracks on the train to pleasure town.

William slid his tongue into her mouth and she groaned into his lips, the vibration curling up her body from the bottom of her diaphragm.

He pulled back to breath and whispered, “Oh kitten, wanted you from the first moment I saw you that cute little uniform.”

She giggled and her hand on his neck pulled him forward into her kiss.

Her hands slid down to his waist where the hem of his tight shirt pulled against his taut muscular stomach. She leant down and licked the washboard abs as she raised his shirt. He was too busy trying to remove her clothing to help with the removal of his own, his arms getting stuck as she tried to rip it off quickly.

“We have time, love. No need to rush things.”

“But I want you now, Will.”

He growled and ripped at her little pyjama shirt. It came off her body with a pop of a button and her bare breasts burst forward. William eagerly kissed his way down her neck to the tender mountainous flesh. He suckled at her left nipple and slowly dragged his lips across to her right.

“Will, I meant it. I want you NOW.”

Not one to argue, well not at this point in time, he removed his pants before latching his fingers on the little drawstrings on her pj pants.

“Stop teasing and get them off me now.”

He slowly slid the pants down her thick lovely tanned thighs.

“Oh love, you’re so beautiful.”

Someone had thankfully forgotten to pack her underwear when getting her some pjs for the hospital. Or maybe she’d declined to wear them waiting for this certain event. That thought made Williams cock jump up painfully against his stomach.

“Oh god William. You need to put that in me NOW!” Her command was more demanding than ever and he placed himself above her on the bed and slowly slid home with a moan.

She moaned in response as he slowly started to move in and out of her delicious warmth, one hand holding him up from crushing her body. His eyes finally found hers and as he pushed slowly back into Buffy, a depth of connection crossed their eye line and tears blossomed down William’s face.

“God Buffy you are so bloody gorgeous and warm and—,”

“Shut up and finish me off.”

“Kinda ruining the moment, love.” His hand snuck down between their bodies as he pressed his hard chest against her beautiful soft breasts and his fingers pressed down on her clit.

“God, William.” The pleasure ricocheted beneath her skin from her left side of her body to the right, running rampart rollercoaster rides up and down her nerves.

“One and the same.” William said before he let his love for her fill his face for her to see as his orgasm ripped up through his cock and spread through her silky inside walls.

William relaxed against Buffy and their breathing was syncopated until they slowly inhaled in unison.

“Stick ‘em up in the air, buster. I wanna see exactly where you put those disgusting hands at all times. You make me sick!”

Detective Constable Buffy Summers spat at the crim she held at gun point. After three months the bastard had been caught. Her world, her life and her love had changed. And he was standing right beside her, gun cocked.

Ethan Rayne sat with his legs crossed at ankles and feet leaning against his desk as he rocked in his chair.

“Oh, my sweet Buffy, how I’ve longed for the day to finally hear your neck snap.”

“Yours first, fucker. Get out of the chair.” He stood and spread his arms in a welcoming gesture and looked at William for the first time.

“Ahh, the partner. Unrequited love to a coma patient, how fucking poetic. Made me so sick I wanted to suffocate…her.” Buffy quickly grabbed Will before he burst forward to behead the criminal.

“He’s not worth it, Will. Rayne, place your hands and head on the desk and spread your legs.”

The phone number led them straight to the run down warehouse in Sunnydale where Ethan Rayne had taken refuge once he faked his own death in prison. He then began to work to bring down the woman who he saw as the reason why he was put in the hellmouth of a place. This warehouse was another operating moisturiser manufacturing factory and the illegal immigrants who Rayne conned to work for him fled at the first sign of police.

He screamed as the cops pushed him into the back of the police car. “I watched you Buffy Summers. I knew you’re every move. I knew you’d be at the cemetery that day and you’d jump at the chance for free facial products you tightwad!” His obscenities grew obscener as the car drew away and Buffy relaxed into the ready arms of William.

“It’s over. And everything’s right.”

“Yeah.” She was happy. It felt like a first for Buffy and she was never going to let go of the person who made her happy. She turned around and smiled lovingly up at William. He tugged her nose and leaned down to plant a kiss on her lips. He couldn’t believe his dream girl had finally returned his love. And he was never going to let her go.

“So, wanna go home and make babies?”

Chapter End Notes:
Can you guess what fairy tale I rewrote this time? Okay, so I know this is different type of my writing that you normally see. It all began when I fell asleep at work (after only being there for an hour) and the internet bill hadn’t been paid so I was without entertainment for my eight hour shift. (Therefore no research: sorry if I gots the police terminology wrong). I leant my head upon my arms (which smelt pretty because I had used my almond oil body rub after my shower because the cold winter wind was being nasty to my skin. As I drifted off to sleep with a very silent customer perusing the DVDs in the store, I smelt my body rub and wonder if that and my moisturiser were the things that made me so sleepy. Then…*POP*, my fingers started a typing and out came a Spuffy story about a deadly moisturiser and Spike’s everlasting love for Buffy. *Sigh*…so much for getting work done. Turns out I like having Buffy in a coma for three months cause that means I don’t have to write for her and I only gotta write Spike…mmmm Spike. And I have this thing for modernising or rewriting fairytales, I’ve done Cinderella a couple of times and a Spuffy Beauty and the Beast (as all of you who do actually read my LJ know) in on the way. If anyone likes this story enough and the characterisation of Spike (and yeah sorta of Buffy even though she ain’t around much) I’m willing to do a sequel. Just tell me if you want our fave Detectives to get another case and I’ll see what other Buffyverse characters I can mangle. And BTW if you hadn’t already guessed, I love alliteration!
