Wes dancing at the party
There's a party going on at Cordelia's place. The apartment is filled with people, including Wesley and Angel (who's looking like he'd rather be elsewhere). Wes is dancing, making a fool of himself.
Cordy figures the party is hell for Angel
Cordelia tells Angel she figures this party thing is probably the equivalent of being in hell for him.
Angel says he's having a good time
He tells her it's different because there are familiar faces in hell, unlike at this party. He assures her he's having a good time but he's not particularly convincing.

Cordelia sees someone enter and leaves Angel standing alone while she goes to greet her guest.
Angel watches Wes dancing
Angel watches with amusement as Wes continues dancing by himself. He overbalances and falls to the floor but quickly picks himself up and dances over to where Angel is standing.
Wes suggests chatting up the ladies
Wes is appreciating the hors d'oeuvres then suggests to Angel that they chat up some of the ladies.
a young woman tries to make conversation
A young woman approaches as Wesley chokes on his hors d'oeuvre. The woman compliments Wesley's sweater in an effort to start a conversation.
Laura asks Angel to dance
Wes remains his usual tongue tied self, leading the woman to beat a hasty retreat.

Angel is listening to a young woman, Laura, describing herself and her work. He's polite, but doesn't seem particularly interested or comfortable. Laura begins to dance in time with the music that's playing and asks Angel if he'd like to join her.
Angel imagines himself dancing"I don't dance"
Angel's mind flashes to an image of him trying to dance, basically embarrassing himself as the young woman looks on, her mouth agape. Returning from his imagination to reality, he tells Laura he doesn't dance. Laura take sit as a brush off and departs.

Angel takes refuge by himself in Cordy's kitchen.
Angel takes refuge in the kitchen
One of the chairs pushes itself back from the table. Angel greets Phantom Dennis as he takes a seat in the chair. A can of root beer on the table opens seemingly by itself and floats its way toward Angel who takes it and drinks from it.

opening the box
At an ice factory, a security guy looks at a large wooden box labeled "Danger - Hazardous Material - Do Not Open."

He hears a noise coming from the inside the box. He picks up a crowbar and begins prying the box open with it. Smoke and a bright light emanate from the box as he opens it and peers inside.

Cordy wonders if Angel can crush the beans
At the office, Cordelia greets Angel as he steps off of the elevator. He returns her greeting and asks for coffee. Cordy hands him a bag of whole coffee beans, claiming she'd ordered ground but got this instead. She asks him if he could use his vamp strength to crush the beans by hand.

Angel looks quizzically at the bag of coffee beans and back to Cordelia. She tells him to just crush the bag of beans.
Angel mentions he had a nice time
Angel puts the bag down without trying to do anything with them. He tells Cordy he had a nice time at her party the previous night.
Cordy appreciated the brooding
Cordelia sarcastically comments that she appreciated his providing the boring, brooding presence that every party needs.

Angel is a bit wounded by her thinking of him as "boring."

Cordelia wonders if Angel has ever attended a party since he didn't seem to understand the concept is to mingle with other people.
Angel mentions he spoke to Laura
Angel reminds her that he did have a conversation with Laura.

Cordelia tells him that Laura thought he didn't like her, Cordy covered for him by telling Laura he was a little slow.
Angel promises to do better
Angel says it wasn't that he disliked Laura but he's not much of a people person and he has to be careful about getting too close, especially with women. He tells her he'll make more of an effort in the future but wonders if Cordy doesn't think the whole broody and aloof thing works for him.

Wesley enters the office. Cordelia tells Angel that Wesley was more appealing.

Angel is dejected by the direction of the conversation as he sits down on the couch.
Wes arrives in a good mood
Wes is in a bright mood, as he compliments Cordy on the party. Cordelia is happy that someone had a good time.
Angel, dejected by the conversation
Angel hastens to interject that he did have a good time but Cordy isn't listening.

Wesley goes on about the food at the party, and how wonderful it was. He's wondering if maybe Cordy has brought any leftovers to the office as he scans the surrounding area.
Wes gets a job offer
Angel notices and remarks that Wes must be out of cash to be begging for leftovers. He asks Wesley if he wants to work for Angel Investigations.

Wes eagerly accepts the offer of employment.

Angel explains they aren't exactly rolling in money, but if Wesley holds up his end, he's entitled to a share of any profits.
Cordy makes sure her salary isn't cut
Cordelia is happy to welcome Wes to the team but only after she gets confirmation from Angel that she won't have to take a cut in pay to fund the new hire.
Angel discourages the hug thing
Wesley is touched by the offer and moves to hug Angel in thanks but Angel wards him off with an "I don't think so" kind of expression.
Wes gets emotional
Wesley gets emotional and assures Angel he won't let him down. Angel pulls the handkerchief from Wesley's pocket and hands it to him.

Cordelia begins to suggest Wes not get all emotional about things when she's struck by a vision.
Cordy has a vision
Angel catches her as she begins to fall. The vision shows the security guy from the factory. He screams as his face blisters and chars, then his eyes explode.

Cordelia is expressing her disgust at what she just saw.
Angel, Wes try to get the info
Wesley asks her what the vision showed her.

Angel wants to know if someone needs help.

Wesley has a pencil and pad, ready to take notes.

Cordelia relays the address of the ice factory.
Angel asks what they're looking for
Angel inquires what it is they are supposed to be seeking there.

Cordy tells them they're looking for a dead body.

Wes, Angel look over the map
Wesley is looking at a map and concludes there is no access to the address Cordelia has given them from the sewer tunnels.

Angel tells him he'll drive then.

Wes offers to accompany him, he expects to hold up his end in his new job.
Cordy offers a warning
Cordelia holds a glass of ice water against her aching head and warns them to be careful. She says she saw the man in her vision burned to death and suggests the possibility that whatever was responsible may still be in the factory.
Wes, Angel
Angel asks her if she can describe what was responsible.
Cordy can't offer any more info
Cordy says she didn't see it, just sensed the victim's fear and then saw his eyes exploding.

Angel and Wes head out for the factory.

Wes pulls the car into the shadows
Wes pulls Angel's car into a shaded area outside of the factory and parks it. Angel tells him to wait there while he goes inside.
the victim as crispy critter
In the factory, Angel finds the charred body of the security guy. He pulls the wallet from the dead guy's pocket and takes out a business card marked "Peter Wilkers, Private Security". Angel keeps it and places the wallet back where he found it.
Angel checks out the box
Angel continues searching the factory. He finds the wooden box. It's opened and filled with ice.
Wes checks his fighting ax
Wesley is waiting outside by the car, toying with a fighting ax.

Angel hears a noise outside of where he is standing, in another part of the factory. He slowly advances to the area he heard the noise coming from.

There is a definitely non-human guy in the process of picking up a crowbar.

Angel sets his foot on the opposite end of the crowbar. He assumes this being is the one responsible for the charred corpse in the factory.
Angel gets the drop on the intruderAngel threatens the intruder
Angel takes the crowbar and threatens the guy with it. He sees a tear in the guy's sleeve, and pushes it apart, noting the guy's skin is burned underneath the sleeve. Angel now assumes this guy isn't the killer. Angel continues to threaten the guy with the crowbar, demanding some answers.

The guy tells him his name is "Tay" and that he's from another dimension. Angel assumed by the guy's appearance he wasn't local.
Tay says he was sent to stop it
Tay continues, telling him that he was sent to stop "it".

Angel wants to know what "it" is.
Angel wants to know how to destroy it
Tay replies that "it" is more than a demon, it is a force of rage and violence that had nearly destroyed his dimension and now it's wreaking it's havoc on Angel's.
Tay tells Angel he can't destroy it
Angel lowers the crowbar and asks Tay how he can destroy this thing.

Tay assures him that he cannot. He tells Angel it is too strong to be dealt with by any single being and that his best course of action is to stay out of the way.

Angel hands Wes the sketch
Back at the office, Angel hands Wesley a sketch he's just finished of Tay. He identifies him by name, tells Wes he seemed a bit anxious and tells Wesley what Tay told him about the "it" responsible for the killing at the factory.
Wes has an opinion on Tay's origins
Judging by the sketch, Wes thinks Tay may be a demon from the Caucasus.

Angel tells him he's from a different dimension.

Wesley takes that in stride, and offers that they must travel to this dimension via portals.
Cordy isn't happy with the news
Cordelia isn't thrilled to hear there is a way for even more non-human types to populate the neighborhood.

Wesley assures Angel he'll figure out what Tay is and why he's there.
Angel heads out to check on a lead
Cordy also lets him know she's on it.

Angel heads out, on his way to the address of the office he found on the victim's business card. He wants to find out who hired the guy.

Angel checks the doorAngel climbs the building
Angel pulls up outside of a brick building. He gets out of the car and walks up to it, tries a door, but finds it locked.

He walks around the building, shoots a couple of grappling hooks up onto the building, then climbs the ropes attached to them. He makes his way to a to a metal fire escape ladder and uses that to make his way to the roof.

Angel enters the office
Angel enters an office inside the building. He finds an invoice from the ice company in an envelope inside a drawer. There's a lot of cash along with the invoice. Angel returns the money to the drawer, but retains the invoice. A noise suddenly gets his attention.
Angel gets a surprise
Before he has a chance to determine the source of the noise, he is hurled across the room. His arm is smoking, having been burned by something.
Jhiera
A strange looking woman with ridges on her face and a facial tattoo, Jhiera, looks at Angel. She demands to know why he's at the office. She wants to know if he's working for those who are hunting her and how much they are paying him.
Angel wonders what Jhiera knows
Angel tells her he's not working for anyone and the reason he's there is to find a killer. He says the victim was burned alive and wonders if she might know anything about that.

Her response is to attack him.
Angel tries defending himself with a chair
Angel grabs a chair and wields it in self-defense, trying to ward her off.
Jhiera takes a call
She goes underneath the chair and slams him in the chest, sending him flying through the door, unconscious..

Jhiera gets a call on her cell phone. She answers it, wanting to know when and where. She hangs up the phone and departs the office.

Jhiera departs
As Jhiera drives away from the office bldg., Angel drops down from the building, gets into his car and follows her.
Angel gets the adapter hooked up
Angel picks up his cell phone and tries to place a call, which doesn't t go through. He tries again. He gets the "battery low" warning on his phone.

Exasperated, he digs through the glove box, pulls out an adapter and plugs it into the phone and the cigarette lighter, all the while trying to keep Jhiera's car in his sights.
Cordy takes the call
The phone rings at the office of Angel Investigations. Cordelia picks up the receiver. Angel asks her if she's found any info. She tells him they haven't turned up anything on Tay but they did find that there have been several similar killings to the one in the warehouse over the past year. All the victims were men, all had been burned to death. Cordy asks Angel if he's had any luck finding the killer.
Angel says they're looking for a woman
Angel tells her he's found the killer, and that "it" is a "she".

Cordelia tries to determine exactly what Angel has found out but the cell phone connection keeps dropping in and out preventing either of them from understanding each other very well.

The connection finally improves long enough for Angel to tell Cordy he wants more info on Tay, he feels that the reason Tay has come, whatever his mission may be, is key to solving these murders.
Wes reminds Cordy to ask for a description
Wesley motions to Cordelia to get a description. Cordy asks Angel what the killer looks like.
Angel gives up on the phone
In response, Angel describes Jhiera. He mentions that for a demon, she's attractive.

Cordelia makes a comment about his observation that Jhiera is attractive, but Angel doesn't hear it as the cell phone is cutting out again. He finally gives up, snaps the phone closed and tosses it into the back seat of the car.

Jhiera parks her car and enters a museum.
Jhiera approaches the security guard the security guard sees Angel enter
Angel follows her.

She tells the security guard inside that she is being followed by a man, she's afraid he may mean her harm. The guard asks her for a description. She points Angel out to him. The guard calls for assistance on his radio and begins to follow Angel through the crowd.

Angel removes his coat as he trails Jhiera
As Angel follows Jhiera through the crowded museum, he removes his coat to make himself less conspicuous.
Angel begins a dialog about the painting
Three more security guards enter the room.

Angel spots them and immediately begins playing the role of tour guide, describing a Monet work in great detail to a group of appreciative museum visitors.

Jhiera in the restoration room
Jhiera has made her way to a private area of the museum. She enters the room, designated "Art Restoration", and expectantly looks up at the windows as she extends her hands in front of herself, palms facing upward and outward.

Angel continues his presentation
Angel continues his impromptu role as tour guide as he watches the security guards out of the corner of his eye. He's still describing the Monet painting, conveying personal notes about the painter and those depicted in the work as if he was actually there and knew these people.
the visitors thank Angel with applause
When he sees the security guards are out of sight, he beats a hasty retreat, to the applause of the museum visitors who had been enjoying to his commentary.

He passes through the exit he saw Jhiera take earlier.

Wes finds some info
At the office, Cordelia has fallen asleep at her desk amongst a pile of books while Wesley is still researching.

Wes finds something and happily lets Cordy know, waking her from her nap.
Wes explains what he's discovered
Wesley tells Cordelia that he's found where Tay comes from and what he is. He describes the "Vigories of Oden Tal". The males are known as "Vigories", they are supposedly good fighters and their women live their lives in subservience to the men.

Cordy wonders if there's any clue in the information about them that could lead to their whereabouts.
Cordy figures a compost pile is a good place to look
Wesley notes they live on a dish composed of rotted plants, and need extremely large quantities of it daily to sustain themselves.

Cordelia's thinking they need to find the city's largest compost pile and that's probably where they'll find who they're looking for.

Jhiera waiting on something
Jhiera is in the vacant room of the museum, apparently waiting on something, or someone, when Angel enters.

She steps toward him and somehow knows he's a vampire.
Angel wants answers
Angel wants to know who Tay is and why he's come.

Jhiera is impatient and not interested in answering questions.
Angel wants to know about the murders
Angel continues to press her with questions about the murder at the ice factory and who was responsible.

Jhiera still isn't providing any answers to his questions. She warns Angel to leave.

Suddenly a swirling circular vortex of light appears just off of the floor, in front of the windows in the office.
a young woman comes through the portal
As Jhiera and Angel look on, a naked girl is thrown out of the vortex and onto the floor.

Jhiera encourages the girl to get up, telling her they must leave right now.
Angel wants to know what's happening
Angel pulls a tapestry off of the wall and covers the girl with it. He wants to know what Jhiera is trying to get away from.
Tay arrives with company
The door to the office opens and Tay, along with others like him, enter.

Tay and others manage to get the girl who just fell out of the vortex. They lead her away while Angel and Jhiera are battling those who remain behind.
"She will be unmade"
Just as Angel and Jhiera dispatch their opponents, they see a car speed away. Angel asks Jhiera what they will do to the girl.

Jhiera responds, "She will be unmade."

the girl, captive
Tay and the others of his kind are dragging the girl from the museum through a warehouse. She is screaming, begging them to stop. They are unmoved by her pleadings.
the girl's ridge, about to be snipped
One of the guys gives Tay a wicked looking clamping type tool.

Tay takes the tool and clamps it to the protruding ridge of the girl's spine. Oblivious to her protestations, he proceeds to snap off part of the ridge.

The girl screams.

Jhiera checks out Angel's apt.
At Angel's apartment, Jhiera removes her coat and scans the place.
Angel suggests Jhiera tend her arm
Angel suggests she should tend to the wound on her arm as he points it out to her. She hadn't seemed to have noticed it.

Jhiera wonders why a vampire would be interested in helping anyone.
Angel offers bandages
Angel says that he was cursed by gypsies, but offers no more than that. He gives her the bandages to dress her wound. He wants to know what is going on.
Jheira explains what she was up to
Jhiera says she was trying to help the girl in the museum escape from her dimension. She tells Angel that the girl was going to be "unmade".

Angel assumes that means those who were after her planned to kill her.

Jhiera tells him in a sense, but not literally.
Angel, confused
Angel is trying to understand.
Jhiera shows her spinal ridge
Jhiera explains that where she comes from, one's center of passion and power is the "Ko", located within the ridge of their spine. She turns her back and displays this area to Angel, who leans in to get a better view. He asks if those who pursue the women intend to take this from them.
Jhiera gives Angel the details
Jhiera turns to face him and continues to explain that yes, but they only do this to the females. When the women mature, they are governed by the "KO" and the power that comes from it. She tells Angel that it also signals when the women find a suitable mate but when it's removed, they are more easily controlled. They are then forced to do what the men want, marrying who they are told to marry, serving them without question or complaint.

Angel notes that she was able to escape.
Jhiera
She tells him she was the first to succeed and that she is the daughter of the dimension's rulers. Her people are told she is dead but she says the females know the truth. They know there is a place they can go where they can be individuals, to be free, but their arrival is complicated by the fact that their energy is in full force when they mature and they have difficulty controlling it. She likens it to a "fever."
Angel hears Jhiera out
Angel notes that the ice factory makes sense now. They obviously need it to stay cool.

Jhiera says when she first came through the portal, she could barely stand the heat. As she's talking, we see her spinal ridge begin to glow red. She's breathing harder as she continues to explain that the "KO" sometimes elicits an involuntary response from males in this dimension which led to some trying to take advantage of her. She found the situation unsafe until she found ice. After a few months, she found the worst of the heat passed and then she learned to control her newfound power.
Angel feels the heat
Angel seems to be responding to this "KO" thing as well as the sexual tension in the room rises. He tries to stay focused, asking her who killed the security guard.

Jhiera replies the guard touched one of the girls, his death was his own fault.

Angel notes considering what she's told him about males responding involuntarily, it was most certainly an accident. The guard probably didn't mean any harm.
Jhiera makes no apologies
Jhiera is unapologetic. She says the girl responded in the way she did. It was not intentional, just an accident.

Angel wonders if the others who had died the same way over the past year were also "accidents."

Jhiera has no problem with a few innocents in this dimension dying if it advances her cause.
Angel warns Jhiera against harming people
Angel tells her he won't stand by and do nothing while her girls murder people in his dimension. He has a duty to protect them and he intends to do it.

Jhiera curtly says to keep his people away from her and there won't be any danger. She begins to leave.

Angel grabs her arm, asking her to wait.
things heat upJhiera bails on the moment
She holds her hand near his chest, her breathing labored. He is every bit as into the moment as she is. She leans against him briefly, almost giving into it, then moves back and straightens up. She tells him she doesn't want his help and leaves the apartment.

Wes, Cordy at the flower mart
Wes and Cordelia are at a huge plant nursery. Cordelia expresses her reservations about the decision to go there without Angel.
Wes takes time to smell the roses
Wesley is determined to prove that he can handle things himself, that Angel can count on him to take the initiative. He takes a moment to enthusiastically appreciate some roses.

An impatient Cordy reminds him of the reason they're there.

They continue their search for Tay and his associates.

Wes takes a peek
Wes and Cordy enter a back room at the nursery. They hear Tay's voice and crouch behind some barrels. Wes carefully pulls himself up to a grate so he can get a better view of what's going on in the other room.
Tay directs the others to return the girl
Tay tells the others that the portal will soon be open, but only briefly. He reminds them that when everything is properly aligned, they need to be at the entry point. He tells the others they will escort the girl captured at the museum to the entry point, to ensure she is returned as soon as possible. He tells them to return after taking her back, they have other work to do.
the girl agrees to whatever Tay wants
Tay asks the girl if she would like to go home. The girl is eerily placid. There are open wounds on her spine where the ridges were broken by the clamping tool. She agrees that she wants to go home. Whatever Tay wants, she wants.

While a couple of his associates lead the girl away, Tay tells another that they must stop this and to do that means stopping Jhiera.

the Palm Ridge Spaspa guy
Jhiera enters the Palm Ridge Spa, a large, private spa well outside of LA. She asks a young guy there where the girls are. He tells them they are where they were when she left.

Jhiera enters a room where several minimally dressed young women are sleeping on beds of ice. There is steam rising from the beds.
Jhiera says they need to go
Jhiera tells spa guy that the girl she went to meet was captured, Tay and his associates will find them soon. They need to get the girls and get out of there as soon as as possible.
Jhiera attempts to cool off
Spa guy tells her he knows someone who can be trusted to hide them.

Jhiera directs him to make the call and the arrangements as she takes some ice from one of the beds and rubs her neck with it.

Wes and Cordy Wes can't get an answerare crouched in the dark of the flower mart, avoiding detection by Tay and his minions. Wes is holding a cell phone to his ear. He whispers to Cordy that there's no answer.

Cordelia thinks Angel probably forgot to turn the cell phone on and marvels that someone who knows how to use ancient fighting weapons can't seem to get the hang of a simple cell phone.
Tay instructs his minions
Cordelia and Wesley decide the best course of action is a careful, and quiet, retreat to go find Angel.

As they're about to leave, they hear one of Tay's associates tell him that they've found the women they're looking for. Tay is handed the address of the spa. He tells his associate to get the others and be ready.

Angel, surprised to see Wes and CordyCordy, unhappy
Cordelia and Wesley rush into Angel's apartment. They see Angel, shirtless, drying his hair with a towel. Cordelia is irritated that she and Wesley were in a precarious situation and Angel was doing something as unimportant as grooming.

Angel, looking a bit embarrassed, tells her he had to take a shower and asks what they found out.
Cordy tells Angel what they've foundAngel knows where to look
As Angel pulls on a sweater, Cordy tells him what they overheard at the plant nursery. The Vigaries had found what they were seeking and they mentioned something about an ice delivery but didn't say where it was delivered to.

Angel pulls a piece of paper from his coat pocket, a shipping order. He tells them he has the address. They head out the door.

Angel tells Wes to wait outside
Angel's car pulls up outside of the spa.

Angel tells Wesley to wait outside and warn him if the Vigaries show up. Wes agrees.

Cordelia also waits outside with Wes.
Wes pulls himself up after a fallCordy watches Wes take a spill
As Wes starts to climb over the closed door of the convertible to get out, he catches his leg and falls to the ground. He bounces back up and rubs the top of the car door.

Cordy looks on, eyes rolling.

Spa guy, not being helpful
Angel enters the spa and encounters spa guy. He tells him he wants to speak to Jhiera. Spa guy isn't very forthcoming with information.
Angel tries a different approach
Angel grabs him by the vest and informs him Jhiera is in danger, there are men after her who will be there any minute.

Spa guy sees he's serious, and directs him to Jhiera's whereabouts.

Angel finds Jhiera
Angel enters the room where the girls are on ice. Jhiera is there. She wants to know why he's come, she doesn't want his assistance.
Jhiera knows the score
He tells her the Vigaries are coming for her.

Jhiera already knows this and tells Angel she has plans to leave first thing in the morning.

Angel says that will be too late. They are on their way now.
Cordy tells Angel the Vigaries are coming
Cordy comes rushing into the room, Wes is not far behind her. She tells Angel that the Vigaries have just arrived.
Wes offers his assistance
Angel tells Wesley to get the girls out and directs spa guy to stall the Vigaries as long as possible.

Wes offers his assistance to one of the young women.

Tay has spa guy in a bind
Tay is holding spa guy up by his sweater vest. Spa guy tries to stall, but Tay and company are having none of it. Tay hits him and knocks the guy out.
Angel fights
Tay and his associates then move into the now empty icing room.

Angel drops down from the ceiling, kicking two of the Vigories straight on in the face. Angel and Jhiera fight the intruders.

Wes is smitten
Outside, Wesley is getting one of the girls situated in a box. He's quite taken with her and starts complimenting her attire.
Cordy tells Wes to get on with it
Cordy tells him to knock it off and get on with the job at hand.
Wes, smitten a second time
Wes gets the first girl safely stowed in the box, then assists another. He's having the same attraction reaction to the second woman. He's stumbling for compliments.

Cordy sees she's going to have to take control here if anything is going to get done. She gets the girl to lie down and closes the lid.

Angel and Jhiera are still battling the Vigaries.
Wes gets caught
Wes and Cordy rush in and join in the fight but are both taken hostage rather quickly.
Angel stops the fight
Angel sees they are in danger and stops fighting.

Tay demands that Angel turn over Jhiera and the other women or Cordy and Wesley will die.
Jhiera offers no help
Angel looks at Jhiera. She tells Tay to go ahead and kill them and walks out.

Wes and Cordelia begin fighting, as does Angel. The fight ends fairly quickly as many of the Vigaries have left to pursue Jhiera.

Jhiera gets caught
Jhiera approaches a large truck. The girls are loaded in boxes on the back of it. One of her pursuers grabs and restrains her. Tay approaches with the clamping tool, telling his associate to hold her. He tells Jhiera he is taking her home.
Angel suggests Jhiera be released
As Tay is about to clamp Jhiera's spinal ridge, Angel grabs him around the neck and jerks him off of her. He tells the one holding Jhiera that if he doesn't let her go, he will kill Tay.

When Jhiera is released, Angel tells her to get out of there. She takes his advice, gets in the truck and drives off.
Angel issues a warning
Once Jhiera is safely on her way, Angel shoves Tay toward his companion. He tells them not to bring their war to his turf again.

Tay tells him it's not his choice, that Jhiera has to be stopped or their society will fall apart.
Tay figures humans don't get it
Angel warns him that if he persists in bringing his battles there, he will have another enemy to fight.
Angel proves he's not quite human
Tay tells him humans cannot understand their ways.

Angel morphs into vamp face, tells them he's not human, and advises them to take the next available portal back to where they came from.

Angel has a go with the coffee beans
At the office, Angel picks up the bag of whole coffee beans. He glances around the empty office and then tries to crush the beans with his bare hands. He only succeeds in making a mess as the bag splits open and coffee beans spill all over the floor just as Wes and Cordy enter the office.
Wes takes a tumble
Wesley slips on the beans on the floor and goes down. Angel starts to apologize for the mess but Wes is anxiously cleaning things up, assuring Angel it was his own fault. He offers to wash each bean separately if Angel wants him to.

Angel touches Wesley's shoulder and tells him that isn't necessary.
Cordy accuses Wes of being a suck up
Cordy is amazed at Wesley's talent for toadying.

Wes takes exception to her observation and assures Angel that his being taken hostage was a fluke, it won't happen again.
Angel assures Wes he's still employed
Angel assures him he's not fired, much to Wesley's visible relief.

Jhiera enters the office.
Cordy, not happy to see Jhiera
Cordelia is openly disgusted by her being there, considering she was perfectly willing to let Cordy and Wes die the night before.
Jhiera tells Angel the girls are safe
Angel invites Jhiera into his private office. He shuts the door behind her. She tells him the girls are in a safe place.
.Angel isn't happy with Jhiera's tactics
Angel is glad to hear that but he's not thrilled that she was willing to get Cordy and Wes killed.

Jhiera is unapologetic for her actions. She felt she wasn't left with a choice.

Angel points out protecting innocents should mean all innocents, no matter what dimension they come from.
Jhiera isn't seeking advice
Jhiera walks up to him, standing very close. She tells him she will do what she thinks is right, she doesn't want or need anyone telling her what that is.
Angel says he'll do what he must
Angel assures her he will also do what he feels is right.

Jhiera believes they've reached a mutual understanding then. They stare at each other briefly. Jhiera looks down and says she has to go.
glowing Jhiera departsAngel watches Jhiera go
As she departs, we see her spinal ridge is glowing a bright, neon red.
