"Eternity"

Written by: Tracey Stern Original Air Date: April 4, 2000

Wes, trappedAngel, trapped
Wesley and Angel appear to be in a dire circumstance. They tensely, and urgently, exchange suggestions for an acceptable method of escape from the situation they find themselves in. After considering numerous options, and deciding none of them are workable, Angel admits they are trapped.
Cordy, overacting
Upon getting a broader view of the surroundings, we see they are in a small, sparsely populated theater viewing a play.
Wes checks his watch
Cordelia is on-stage. Her performance is awful. The only thing she seems to be doing well is forgetting her lines as she frequently calls to someone offstage to prompt her.

Wes checks his watch and tells Angel he figures they'll be out of the theater in about an hour. After Cordy flubs yet another line, he amends that, maybe it'll be two hours.

Cordy wants to know how she was
Angel, Wes and Cordy are walking down the street after Cordelia's performance. She wants to know what they thought. Wes offers she was easily heard, which seems to be the only positive he can come up with. Angel agrees that she was plenty loud enough.
Cordy wants Angel's opinion
Cordelia presses on, wanting to know if they thought she was a good actress. Wesley offers a nonspecific kind of answer which satisfies Cordelia who then turns to Angel and asks the same question. She wants to know if he thought she was good.
Angel avoids a direct answer
He tells her he wouldn't say it if he didn't mean it.

She thanks him for the vote of confidence, then realizes he didn't say it. Before she can press further, she is distracted by something going on across the street.
Cordy is excited about seeing Oliver
Cordelia identifies the person she's excited about to Wes and Angel. His name is Oliver, he's a talent agent. She tells Angel she was at the same party as Oliver once and reminds Angel he was there as well.
"He thought I had a quality"
Angel recalls the encounter and mentions that Oliver gave him his business card.

Cordy isn't happy that she was trying to get Oliver's attention all night and yet it was Angel who got his card.

Angel defensively offers, "He thought I had a quality."
Rebecca Lowell
Cordelia continues gushing when she sees who is accompanying Oliver. She identifies the woman with him as Rebecca Lowell.

Neither Wes or Angel seem to have heard of her.
Cordy tries to explain Rebecca's fame
Cordelia is flustered that they seem so oblivious to this famous person standing across the street. She explains that Rebecca was the star of a television show that ran for nearly 10 years, then wonders if either Wes or Angel even own a television set.

Wes doesn't really answer, Angel says he doesn't.
Angel is suspicious of the car
As Cordelia is rambling about Rebecca's canceled television program, Angel seems suspicious of a car in the distance, pulling away from the curb. He notices it heading straight for Rebecca.
Angel lands in the street
Angel runs over the top of the hood of the car parked in front of him, dashes into the street and pushes Rebecca out of the way of the oncoming vehicle. Rebecca is clear but Angel gets hit by the car. He rolls up onto the hood and into the windshield, shattering the glass, before rolling off of it back onto the street.

Oliver rushes to Rebecca inquiring if she's okay.
Cordy wants to know what Rebecca was like
Cordy and Wesley rush to Angel as he's getting up from the street. The first thing Cordy asks Angel is what Rebecca was like.
Rebecca checks on Angel
Rebecca approaches and asks Angel if he's okay. Cordy answers for him, saying that he's fine and they are glad to have saved her life.

Rebecca thanks them then asks Angel his name.
Cordy tells Rebecca Angel is clueless
Cordy again answers, introducing herself then notices Rebecca's attention is on Angel. Cordy tells her that Angel has no idea who she is.

Rebecca is pleasantly surprised someone actually isn't familiar with her from television.
Oliver pulls out his wallet
Oliver doesn't believe Angel doesn't recognize Rebecca, thinking Angel expects money for saving her and pulls out his wallet.
Angel doesn't want the money
Angel refuses his offer.

Oliver takes his refusal as a tactic to squeeze him for more money and tells Angel he's not going to be robbed.
Rebecca tells Oliver to back off
Rebecca tells Oliver to back off as she realizes Angel really has no idea who she is and tells Oliver as much.

Cordy offers that Angel is "culturally retarded".

Rebecca introduces herself to Angel as she extends her hand to him.
Rebecca, Angel exchange introductions
He shakes her hand and offers his name in return.

Rebecca wonders if Angel makes a point of turning up and rescuing people at opportune times.
Cordy digs for a business card
Cordy enthusiastically offers that it's Angel's job as she digs for a business card.

Wes subtly tries to get her to stop doing what she's doing but subtlety is lost on Cordelia.

Rebecca notices the approach of some tabloid television reporters and wonders who called them.
Oliver suggests their own spin
Oliver says they were there to cover the party. He tells Rebecca tomorrow the media will be reporting their versions of what happened anyway so they might as well get a head start on offering their own version.

Rebecca turns to speak to Angel, but he's already left.
Wes tries to manage Cordy's enthusiasm
Cordy says he does that all the time as she offers a business card and begs her to call if she needs anything.
Rebecca watches Angel depart
Wesley finally drags her away before she can embarrass herself any further.

Rebecca looks around and catches a glimpse of Angel as he rounds a corner down the street.

Cordy is excited about the coverage
Angel and Wesley are in the office the next day. Cordy enters carrying a newspaper. She's excited to announce that she's in the paper. The events of the previous night have coverage on the front page of one of the sections.

Wesley assumes she's talking about a review of the play she was in. Cordy has already forgotten about the play, she's talking about the coverage of the near miss for Rebecca Lowell. Cordelia is excited that she's in the picture as she shows it to Wesley.
Cordy points out her elbow
Wes can't find her in the picture anywhere.

Cordy points out to him that in the picture, right next to Rebecca Lowell, is a lovely shot of Cordy's elbow.
Angel assumes he got a mention
Angel just wants things back to normal. He doesn't think what happened was any big deal. He looks over Wesley's shoulder at the article in the newspaper. He assumes the article mentions the fact that he saved Rebecca from the speeding car.
Angel, disappointed
Wesley tells him there is nothing in the article about him at all.

Angel seems taken aback by that briefly but then says it's for the best anyway. It's not a good idea for them to draw attention to themselves.
Cordy thinks publicity is a good thing
Cordelia thinks some publicity on this could be a good thing. If word is out that Angel helped Rebecca, Cordy figures it will bring in more business.
Rebecca asks for a moment of Angel's time
Rebecca enters the office, followed by a couple of burly bodyguards.

Cordy goes into full gush mode; stammering, offering coffee, tea or anything else "the intern" (referring to Wesley) can provide.

Rebecca asks Angel for a moment of his time.

He invites her into his private office.

Rebecca checks out Angel's office
Rebecca takes note of the closed blinds in Angel's office.

He offers that he's more of a night person.

She says she's that way as well. She wonders if it's true he's never seen one episode of her series.

He confirms it's true.

Rebecca invites him to her place sometime for a private screening of some of her work.
Angel declines the invitation
Angel thanks her for the invitation but declines.
Rebecca likes that Angel doesn't know her
Rebecca notes she's been famous most of her life, she thinks it's refreshing to find someone to whom it doesn't matter that she's "famous."

Angel asks what he can do for her.
the letter
Rebecca lays a letter on the desk in front of him. She tells him she has a lot more like these at her place, all the same, all written in what she believes to be blood. She says whoever is terrorizing her also has her private phone number.
Angel notes the text isn't in blood
Angel glances at the barely legible scrawl on the letters and informs Rebecca they aren't written in blood.

Rebecca wonders how he can be sure.

Angel doesn't answer. He wonders if she has contacted the police about this.
Rebecca is hesitant to call the cops
Rebecca admits her manager has been urging her to do so but she's afraid if she calls in the police someone in the department will turn the information over to the tabloids. She prefers to avoid that.

Angel asks why she thinks he wouldn't do the same thing.

Rebecca can't be sure but she knows he saved her life the night before without any expectation of reward and she feels safe in his office. She's up for a role in a new show and she needs less stress right now because this is a do or die deal for her career.
Angel gives Rebecca the car info
Angel tells her the color, year, make and model of the car that nearly ran her down. He also got the license plate number and checked it out, the vehicle was stolen. He gives Rebecca a sheet of paper with the information he's come up with on the matter then tells her that he can't accept her case.

Cordelia, who has been eavesdropping outside of the office door, cries out wondering if Angel is crazy.
Rebecca doesn't understand why Angel is turning her down
Rebecca doesn't understand why he's turning down her case.

Angel tells her to give the data he came up with to her own security people and they'll be able to track down the perpetrator.

Cordy, unhappy
Cordelia is in Angel's private office, along with Angel. She's pacing, accusing him of messing up her chance to make her first real "Hollywood connection". She doesn't understand why Angel doesn't hesitate to take on every vile demon in LA but refuses to help Rebecca with her problem and upset he's messing up her one chance to get her foot in the door with someone famous.
Wes understands Angel's reasons
Wesley, standing in the open doorway of the inner office, quietly offers that Angel likes Rebecca and has concerns about getting emotionally involved.
Cordy is disappointed
Cordelia isn't particularly sympathetic. She doesn't figure it would be too likely for him to get so close that the curse would kick in and besides, she sees his helping Rebecca as a boost for herself.

Wesley reminds her that the one with the problem is Rebecca and agrees that it may not be in Angel's best interest to get involved in it. He suggests he may be able to find someone else to assist her in tracking down her stalker.
Cordy feigns a vision
Cordelia feigns a vision headache, claiming she sees Rebecca in trouble. Neither Wes or Angel are buying her act and she realizes that soon enough. Cordy is frustrated that Angel won't help and this is costing her a chance to associate with someone famous which she thinks could help her in her acting career.
Angel isn't impressed with Cordy's act
Angel tells her to get over it, famous people are no different than anybody else.

Cordy doesn't see it that way. She desperately wants a taste of that fame, even if it's second hand through association with someone famous.

Rebecca at poolside
Rebecca is lying on a shaded chaise beside her swimming pool, wearing a robe, her hair wrapped in a towel, getting some attention from a masseuse.
the masseuse suggests liposuction
The masseuse is talking to her about cosmetic surgery, explaining the process of liposuction and suggesting it might be a good idea to consider it. The woman offers that someone she knows had it done at the age of 24.

Rebecca doesn't seem all too keen on the youth obsession of the business she's in.

Rebecca hears a noise
Rebecca has just thrown a lavish Hollywood party at her house. The guests are departing. Soon Rebecca is alone.

As she ascends the staircase, she hears a noise and comes back downstairs to investigate.
Angel attacks the intruder
Angel crashes through the glass door, rushes past Rebecca and goes after a guy in a black ski mask who is coming up behind her. They fight briefly until the guy pulls a cabinet down on Angel and then escapes through the shattered door.
Rebecca sees she's the only reflection
As Angel pulls himself out from under the cabinet, Rebecca rushes to him to see if he's all right. Before she can inquire, she notices in the huge mirror hanging behind her couch that there's only one reflection, hers, even though both she and Angel are in front of it.
Angel, at a loss for explanation
Angel looks toward where she is looking and sees what she is seeing. They look at each other without saying anything.

Rebecca's security guard is banging on the door, calling to her. He wants to know if she's okay and tells her he's calling the police.

Rebecca looks toward the door, then back to where Angel was standing. He's gone.

Rebecca assures Oliver she's fine
Oliver has arrived at Rebecca's, wanting to be sure everything is okay. As the police finish up their inspection of the property, she assures him she's fine and that she really wants to be alone.
Rebecca bids Oliver good-bye
Oliver doesn't think it's a wise decision considering all that has happened, but Rebecca is steadfast. She tells him the police are everywhere, she'll be safe. Oliver respects her wishes and tells her he'll handle dealing with the press. They exchange a hug, he leaves.

Rebecca, looking for Angel
Rebecca locks the door after Oliver and the remaining police officers have left the house. She calls aloud to Angel, knowing he's still somewhere inside.
Angel reveals himself
Angel comes cautiously out of hiding and tells her that things aren't what they seem.
Rebecca has it figured out
Rebecca tells him how it 'seems' to her is that he's a vampire. She has concluded this based on a few things; the darkness of his office, the fact that he knew immediately the letters from her stalker were not written in blood and the fact that there was no reflection in the mirror. Her logical side says it's not possible. Her knowledge of vampires is based on actor portrayals in film.

But even as she tries to logic herself out of the conclusion, she realizes her instinct was right. She wonders if Angel feeds on blood.
Angel says he doesn't eat people
He doesn't hesitate to answer that he does, but is quick to clarify that he doesn't feed on people. He doesn't kill anymore.

Rebecca wants to know how old he is.

He tells her over 200 years. Rebecca cops a feel
Rebecca wonders if Angel is cold
She is intrigued and amazed by how young he looks. She wonders if he's cold to the touch as she extends her hand to gently touch the side of his face.

Angel seems apprehensive, but makes no move to pull away from her. He is genuinely surprised that she isn't afraid of him.

Rebecca admits that she wasn't being truthful with Oliver when she told him she wanted to be alone.

Wes
Wesley is seated behind the desk at the office the next day. Cordelia is sitting across from him. Wes tells her that Angel called that morning, he has taken Rebecca's case and he wants them to check out the stolen vehicle that nearly ran her down.

Cordy wonders what has happened to make Angel change his mind about taking the case.
Cordy wonders if Angel spent the night
Wes tells her he didn't, he had been keeping an eye on her from the beginning.
Wes thinks Cordy's assumption is logical
Cordy notes that Wes had said Angel called early in the morning. She wonders if he spent the night with Rebecca.

Wes thinks that's a logical assumption.
Cordy fears Angel may have eaten Rebecca
Cordy is afraid that one thing may have lead to another and he ended up dining on her one connection to celebrity.
Wes reminds Cordy perfect happiness is rare
Wesley doesn't think there's any real reason for concern. He reminds her that the one time that happened it was because Angel experienced true and complete happiness with Buffy. Wes notes that's a very rare thing, he thinks it's highly unlikely that could happen easily with anyone else.

Cordelia isn't convinced. She decides it's her duty to go over to Rebecca's and see what's happened.

Angel comes downstairs
Angel comes down the stairs of Rebecca's house as there's a knock at the door. He sees Cordy standing in the full sun just outside the doorway. He notes the large, wooden cross hanging around her neck as he looks away from it.
Cordy, bearing coffee and a cross
Cordy offers that she also brought lattes. She figures it's safe to come into the house, noting that Angelus has better taste in attire than what Angel is wearing. She notices Rebecca isn't around and asks where she is.

Angel tells her Rebecca had an appointment for lunch.
Angel discourages Cordy's snooping
Cordelia asks if Rebecca left him alone at the house to go through her stuff as she snoops in Rebecca's things.
Cordy thinks Angel's kidding about telling Rebecca
As Angel discourages her snooping by closing the drawer she's opened, he says he told Rebecca he was a vampire and daytime dining al fresco wasn't an option.
Angel confirms he's not kidding
Cordy thinks he's kidding.

He assures her he's not.

Cordelia's main concern is if she can get an in to Oliver through Rebecca.

Rebecca arrives to meet with Oliver
At a restaurant, Rebecca arrives and takes a seat at a table where Oliver is already waiting. He compliments her on her appearance. She asks him if those they were supposed to meet with canceled.

Oliver says they just put off the meeting due to scheduling problems. It's no big deal.
Rebecca thought she had the role
Rebecca reminds him that he assured her she was a shoe-in for the role.
Oliver says Rebecca needs to audition
Oliver tells her they want her to come into the office and audition.

Rebecca seems offended and dejected by this bit of news.

Rebecca works out
As Rebecca exercises on the treadmill in her bedroom, she laments the fact that she's expected to audition. She doesn't like being treated like a nobody. She realizes she's being a bit whiny.
Angel reckons everybody has problems
Angel is sitting on a storage chest at the foot of the bed, noting everybody has their problems.
Rebecca does some stretching and thinks things out
Rebecca steps off the treadmill and does some stretching. She reckons her main problem is getting rid of stalker guy so she can concentrate on winning this role she's up for. She's been too distracted by the unpleasantness in her own life to focus on doing what she has to do to get the part.
Rebecca takes the garment bag
There's a knock on the bedroom door. Rebecca opens it and greets her maid, Maria. Maria hands her a garment bag. Rebecca thanks her and closes the door. She turns to Angel and asks what size suit he wears, she's made a guess, 44 Long.
Angel wonders what's up
He asks why she wants to know.

She offers him the garment bag, telling him she has to attend a premiere that night and she wants him to accompany her for protection.

Angel assists Rebecca from the car
At the premiere, Angel gets out of a limousine greeted by a frenzy of flashbulbs as reporters and others snap pictures. He assists Rebecca out of the car.
the premiere crowd
The crowd applauds as she emerges from the limo.

Angel looks over the crowd.
lurker guy packing a gun
Rebecca notes to Angel that many are calling the name of the character she played, not her own.

A man is standing in the crowd, concealing a handgun.

Angel, Rebecca exit into the alley
Angel and Rebecca exit a back doorway to the alley. Angel wonders what they're doing there.
Rebecca admits she only goes for the publicity
Rebecca explains she doesn't attend the premieres to see the movie, she goes for the free publicity. Her driver knows she leaves early and knows to bring the car around back to meet her.
lurker guy aims the gun
The man with the gun who was in the crowd when Rebecca arrived is going up the stairs between buildings above Angel and Rebecca. He draws the gun.
Angel beats down lurker guy
Angel sees him, shouts at Rebecca and shoves her aside. He leaps up to the stairs' landing, grabs the gunman's hand as he's shooting and slams it down on the railing, forcing the gun to drop.
Angel comforts Rebecca
There is a brief fight, but the guy is no match for Angel who beats him unconscious.

Angel rushes to Rebecca, embracing her in a hug, reassuring her that everything is okay.

Oliver arrives
While a police officer is getting Angel's statement on the events in the alley, Oliver arrives and approaches Rebecca. She tells him she recognized the stalker as a stuntman who is also a client of Oliver's.
Rebecca figures it out
Oliver tries to deny it but Rebecca doesn't back down. She tells him it all adds up; the stalker knew her private phone number, the means to enter her house and knew that she didn't attend the movie at premieres but slipped out the back way. It's obvious the only way the guy could have known this stuff was if Oliver had told him.
Oliver, busted
Oliver assures her she wasn't in any danger, he just thought the publicity would be good for her career and provide a boost to her efforts to snag the role she was after.

Rebecca already has a feeling she didn't get the part.
Oliver admits Rebecca lost the role
Oliver confirms that's true. He says he just found out about it himself and hadn't had a chance to notify her yet but the network decided they wanted someone younger for the role. He thinks once some time has passed and the executives have had a chance to forget about her previous vixen role, she'll have better luck.
Rebecca realizes her image will always be the same
She reminds him the role they will always judge her by and compare her current looks to will always exist in reruns, she'll never be able to get away from that.
Rebecca glances toward Angel
Oliver points out that's the character, not her, and Rebecca is going to have to deal with the fact that nobody is forever young.

Rebecca says nothing, just looks over at Angel talking to the police officer, something clearly on her mind.

Wes has info
At the office the next day, Wes glances at an open file folder he's holding and tells Angel he has a preliminary report about the bullets that were fired the previous night in the alley.
Angel knows the bullets were blanks
Angel already knows what Wesley is going to say, that the bullets were blanks. He went back to the alley and found no bullet holes anywhere, no creases or other marks that would indicate a bullet had hit something.
Wes wonders what's going on
Wes wonders why a would be killer would be firing blanks.

Angel already figured that it was a setup, there never was a real stalker. He doesn't believe that Rebecca is in on the scam and isn't sure how to break the news to her.

Rebecca, Cordy , shopping
Cordelia and Rebecca are walking down a busy, sunlit street carrying some shopping bags. Rebecca thanks Cordy for coming along, she's glad Cordy had the time for shopping.

Cordelia is still in star struck mode, assuring Rebecca it's her pleasure to join her for shopping and lunch. She's thrilled to be rubbing elbows with a real actress.

Rebecca tells Cordy she's an actress too and she believes that Cordelia will make it big one day.
Cordy promises no more squealing
Cordy's response is to squeal in excitement. She catches herself and promises she won't do it again. She's sure Rebecca has lots of friends she could have invited along for the afternoon, she's flattered Rebecca asked her.
Rebecca seeks gift ideas
Rebecca tells her she is the only person she knows who might know what to get a 200 + year old vampire and she would like Cordy's help in suggesting a thank you gift for Angel.
Cordy admits Angel is hard to buy for
Cordy doesn't have any immediate suggestions, acknowledging that Angel is tough to buy for.
Rebecca assures Cordy she has all the time necessary
Rebecca changes the topic of conversation to Angel and his past. She's very interested in learning how he came to be a vampire.

Cordelia says it's a long story.

Rebecca assures her she has the time.

Rebecca arrives unexpectedly
That evening, Angel is about to go upstairs from his apartment when he is met by Rebecca coming down the steps. She says nobody was upstairs so she came on down.

Angel invites her in and tells her he was just about to come to her place.
Rebecca offers her gift
Rebecca wanted to get him a thank you gift for helping her but didn't know exactly what to get him so settled on a bottle of expensive champagne. She pulls out the bottle and offers it, wondering if he can drink it.
Angel invites Rebecca to sit while he fetches glasses
He assures her drinking "other liquids" is not a problem.

Angel invites her to sit down while he goes to the kitchen for glasses.
Rebecca checks out the apartment
Rebecca removes her jacket, sits down on the couch and looks around the apartment.

Rebecca notes the surroundings aren't exactly what she expected.
Angel notes there's no coffin
Angel notices her eyes locked on the bed in the bedroom and remarks that there's no coffin on the premises.

She says she really wasn't thinking about that.

Angel tells her there's something she needs to know about her stalker.
Rebecca says she knew about the stalker
Rebecca is one step ahead, telling him she already knows there wasn't any stalker. She recognized the man in the alley as a client of Oliver's. She admits the stalking was Oliver's idea, an effort to revive her failing career but it didn't work. She lost the part.

Angel offers his sympathy on her loss of the role and hands her a glass of champagne as he takes a seat on the armrest of the couch.
sharing a toast
Rebecca suggests they link arms then drink the champagne in a sort of good luck gesture.

Angel moves from the armrest of the couch to sit beside her so they can do that.
Rebecca spills her champagne
Rebecca manages to spill a large quantity of her champagne on Angel's shirt in the process of unlinking arms after taking a sip. She apologizes for her clumsiness.
Angel isn't bothered by the spill
He assures her it's okay, puts down his glass of champagne and goes to the bedroom to change into a dry shirt.
Rebecca spike's Angel's drink
While he's gone, Rebecca removes a small bag of white powder from her handbag and empties it into Angel's glass. She pours some more champagne into the glass to mix with the powder then hands it back to him as he returns from the bedroom and sits next to her on the couch.

Rebecca offers a toast to "The end of an ending, and the beginning of a beginning." They both drink from their glasses.

Cordy thinks she's done something
Cordy answers a knock on her apartment door. It's Wesley, having come in response to her numerous pages to him. He asks what's going on.

As Cordy accompanies him to the couch, she tells him, "I think I may have done something terrible. I went shopping with Rebecca."
Wes doesn't understand the emergency
Wesley doesn't understand what the emergency is.
Cordy goes on about her amazing outing with Rebecca
Cordy says that's not it, then wanders off on a tangent about shopping and dining with Rebecca Lowell.

Wes finally manages to get her to the point of her contacting him.

Cordy says the entire time she was with Rebecca, all she seemed to want to talk about was Angel. She wanted to know everything about him including how one becomes a vampire.
Cordy is concerned about Rebecca's plansWes wonders if Rebecca would do something stupid
Wes can't believe Rebecca actually intends to try something.

Cordy thinks she very well may considering the appeal of being forever young in a business that is youth obsessed.

Angel admits to having done bad things
Angel and Rebecca are reclining on the couch. Angel is holding the nearly empty champagne glass, feeling very relaxed. He tells Rebecca that he did a lot of damage a long time ago and that's why he's doing penance now, to try to make amends for his past.
Rebecca doesn't believe Angel was that bad
Rebecca doesn't believe he was that bad.
Angel assures Rebecca he was that bad
Angel assures her he was.

She suggests maybe it's time he had some true happiness.
Angel admits to being lonely
Angel looks at her for a moment then responds that happiness is not a good idea. He is drawn to her scent, her warmth. He has missed that companionship. The emotion in his voice and etched on his face speaks of his loneliness.

Rebecca tells him he doesn't have to be alone anymore. Neither of them has to be.

Angel starts to sit up and asks her what she means.
Rebecca offers her neck
Rebecca thinks he already knows what she wants as she pushes her hair back, exposing her neck to him. She suggests they can have eternal companionship.
Angel realizes what she wants
Angel's face registers the reality of what she is expecting. He tells her she cannot comprehend what it is she's asking for.

Rebecca assures him she knows exactly what she's doing. She knows there is a price for eternity and she's more than willing to pay it.
Rebecca reminds Angel she wasn't afraid
Angel gets up off of the couch, Rebecca follows. She reminds him that she wasn't afraid of him when she saw that he cast no reflection in the mirror. She understood.
Angel realizes it's about vanity
Angel snaps that she wasn't scared because the only reflection she saw in the mirror was herself and that is the only image she ever sees. It's all about how she sees herself, not about how anyone else sees her. He doesn't think she wants to remain the same, but rather wants to make who she is disappear.

Rebecca pleads with him to help her.
Angel gives her a taste of blood
Angel offers to "help" by grabbing her by the arm and dragging her into the kitchen. He opens the refrigerator and takes out a bag of blood. He offers to give her a taste of eternity as he squeezes some of the contents of the bag into her mouth.

Rebecca is horrified as she tries not to choke on the blood.
Angel is stunned by his own actions
Angel is equally horrified by his own actions as he steps back, staring at a blood stained Rebecca. He starts to apologize as he realizes what he has done. He drops the blood bag and asks her what she has done to him.
Rebecca denies doing anything
Rebecca denies doing anything.
Angel realizes it was in the drink
Angel looks over to the empty champagne glass and realizes she put something in the drink. He wants to know what it was.

She admits she added a "happy pill" just to get him to loosen up a bit.

Angel lays his head on her shoulder.
Rebecca wanted them both to be happy
She tells him she's sorry, she just wanted them both to be happy.
Mr. Happy
Angel tells her he is happy. There's a crunching sound as he bites her shoulder.

Rebecca lets out a small cry and jumps as Angel raises his head up from her shoulder, in vamp face. Angelus assures her he is very happy.
Rebecca, afraid
Rebecca is startled to see Angel in vamp face. She says his name quietly.
Angelus enjoys the drug
Angelus thinks she looks a little anxious. He is happy to be free. He picks up the empty champagne glass, drinks the rest of the liquid inside, wipes out the remnants of the contents with his finger and licks the remainder off of it, savoring the effects of the drug. He breaks the glass on a ceiling beam and tells Rebecca he wants to know who her supplier is before he kills her.

Rebecca is shaken as she realizes the peril in which she has placed herself.

Angelus is pondering the joy of killing someone famous, something he's never done before. He wonders how he'll be able to prove it and decides he can mount her head on a pole.
Rebecca insists she's not afraid
He continues to taunt and torment her. She insists she's not afraid. He responds by grabbing her and throwing her across the room like a rag doll.
Angelus blocks escape
Rebecca gets up and tries to run but Angelus intercepts her and blocks the way. He offers to torture her for a few hours so she can decide if this life is what she really wants for herself.
Angelus catches Rebecca on the stairs
Rebecca makes another attempt to escape, up the stairs this time. Angelus catches her from behind, pulls her backward down the stairs and throws her to the floor.
Rebecca positions herself in front of a weapon
Rebecca pulls herself up and leans on the edge of the table as Angelus approaches, taunting her. She reaches for a brass candle holder behind her back. She tells him she's done running from him then slams him upside the head with the candle holder.
Angelus gets knocked backward
Angelus respects the effort.

She hits him a second time sending him falling back into the chair, doing no real damage but buying enough time to get to the elevator.

Angelus pursues her.
Rebecca makes it to the elevator
Rebecca gets inside the elevator and locks the door. As she's frantically trying to make it go up, Angelus reaches the elevator. It finally begins to ascend before he can get to her.

Rebecca finally manages to stop the elevator halfway above the upper office floor, leaving the elevator shaft exposed. She begins to climb backwards out of the elevator, down to the floor below.
Rebecca gets an assist from Wes
A hand reaches out and touches her leg, causing her to scream.

Wes assures her everything is okay as he assists her out of the elevator.

Rebecca tells him she needs help, Angel is trying to kill her.
Cordy wants answers
Cordy demands to know what Rebecca did to Angel.

She denies doing anything.

Wes says something had to have happened and he wants to know what.
Rebecca admits her actions
Rebecca admits that she gave Angel "Doximil", just to lower his defenses a little.

Cordy wants to know what Doximil is.

Wesley explains it's a very strong tranquilizer that induces a feeling of euphoria, of bliss.
Cordy freaks
Cordy freaks at the thought of "perfect happiness" knowing full well what that means.

Wesley assures her it's not real, it's synthetic, an illusion.

Rebecca tells them that Angel bit her.
Wes thinks they should leave
Wes thinks it might be prudent for them to get out of the office until the drug wears off.

The lights in the office go out.

Wesley asks Cordy where the electrical box is.

She tells him it's outside of the building.
Wes realizes they've got trouble
Wes realizes Angel went out through the street to cut the power.

Angelus is heard in the shadows, taunting Cordelia about not paying the electrical bill. He's also cut the phone lines.

Wes tries to explain the feeling he is experiencing is nothing more than a suggestion caused by the drug.
Angelus emerges from the shadows
Angelus emerges from the shadows, still in vamp face and sporting a bloody gash on his forehead where he was struck with the candlestick..

Wes warns him if he won't be reasoned with, he [Wes] will have to do whatever is necessary.
Wes gets knocked out
Angelus mocks Wesley for daring to warn him about anything. He grabs Wes and throws him across the room, knocking him unconscious. He then turns his attention to Cordelia.

Cordy desperately stammers for something to say.
Angelus taunts Cordy
Angelus taunts her stuttering then starts in on her less than stellar performance in the play. He tells her that enduring Hell was easier than enduring her attempts at acting as he slowly advances toward her.

Rebecca cowers in the corner of the office.
Cordy tries a bluff
Cordelia thinks fast and grabs a bottle of water, pulls the top off of it and points it at him telling him to stay away from her.

He's not particularly threatened, wondering what she thinks she's going to accomplish with a bottle of drinking water.

Cordelia insists it's more than just drinking water.
Angelus isn't impressed
Angelus doesn't believe her. He accuses her of trying to run a bluff.

Cordy is undeterred. She assures him that she has always been prepared for this to happen, that she keeps a stake and a cross handy in the office at all times.

Angelus again accuses her of lying about the contents of the bottle but the fact he has stopped advancing on her would seem to indicate he's not quite so sure.
Cordy tosses the water on Angelus
Cordy assures him that it may start out as plain drinking water but she has it blessed by the local parish priest every other week while Angel is sleeping most of the day. She offers to prove she's telling the truth by throwing the water in his face.
Angelus realizes it's a bluff
Angelus yells and turns away just long enough to realize the bluff. He straightens back up, unburned but very angry.
Cordy, Wes peer down the elevator shaft
As he charges Cordelia, Wesley rushes him from behind and takes him by surprise, spinning him around and shoving him down the open elevator shaft.

Wesley and Cordelia walk up to the edge of the opening and look down upon an unconscious Angelus at the lying at the base of the shaft.

Angel finds himself chained to the bed
Angel slowly awakens in his own bed. He tries to get up only to realize he is chained down from neck to foot. Cordy and Wes are sitting in chairs beside the bed, watching with solemn expressions.

Cordelia wonders which version of Angel has awakened.

The memory of what happened the night before comes back to Angel who is ashamed of his actions. He apologizes to both Cordelia and Wesley.
Cordy isn't ready to be forgiving
Cordy isn't quite ready to be forgiving.

Angel asks about Rebecca.

Cordy tells him that she left and that she would not be retaining their services, probably because he tried to kill her.

Angel again offers a heartfelt apology.

Wes tells him it's not necessary.
Wes reminds Cordy the drugs were responsible
Cordy doesn't agree.

Wes reminds her it wasn't something that Angel could control. The drug was responsible. He acknowledges that hurtful things were said, but he thinks it's best for all concerned if they put it in the past and move forward.

Angel thanks Wesley for his understanding.

As Wes is leaving, he tells Angel that he doesn't envy the tightrope he has to walk to maintain control.
Angel hands Wes a compliment
Angel compliments him on his handling of Angelus.

Wesley smiles slightly and leaves.
Wes accepts the compliment
Angel turns his attention to Cordelia. She tells him she agrees with Wesley, it's best to put the events of the previous night in the past and move on.
Cordy would prefer honesty
Angel starts to tell her that the stuff Angelus said about her acting really wasn't true but Cordelia knows better. She prefers Angel not try to whitewash those comments. She'd like Angel to be as honest with her as the demon that is Angelus.

Angel wonders if things are okay between them then.

Cordelia says that their friendship means too much to her to be destroyed that easily.
Cordy's not offering to free AngelAngel, alone and stuck
Angel thanks her. There is a brief pause as he waits on her to unchain him. Her reaction, "Pfffffffffffffft!" She leaves the bedroom.

Angel calls out to Wesley, then Cordy. Nobody comes. He remains firmly chained to the bed.
