"Disharmony"

Angel takes the lecture
In the office at the hotel, Wesley is lecturing Angel about how he needs to change his behavior, be more considerate of others, think about their opinions and feelings before he does anything "insane." Angel is shifting in the chair behind the desk, clearly uncomfortable. Wesley notes this is difficult for Angel. Angel confirms that. Wesley sees that as a good thing.
Wesley
Wes is finished. Angel says he'll just sit and take that in. Wesley looks around the office, indicating that Angel should do that elsewhere. Angel remembers the office is Wesley's now and heads for the door to find his own space.
Angel's new "office"
Upon opening the office door, he sees Cordelia putting the finishing touches on his new "office." An ink blotter and a coffee mug filled with pencils on the end of a card table. Wesley informs him that's his new space, tells Angel he'd like some coffee and goes back into the office, shutting the door behind him. Cordelia and Gunn put their coffee orders in as well, then leave. Angel notes that "atonement's a bitch."

A young couple is making out in a parked car. A hooded figure watches from nearby. Suddenly, the windows of the car are smashed, the young woman screams.

Angel
At the office, Gunn, Wesley and Cordelia are unpacking equipment, books, weapons and the like. Angel comes downstairs, looks around, not quite sure what to do. Wesley looks at Angel, then gives a look toward Cordelia who is unpacking a box of files.
Angel tries for small talk
Angel walks over to her, she tells him not to bother making small talk, she doesn't want him to strain himself in the effort. Angel says he just wanted to know how she was doing, they hadn't had a chance to talk. Cordelia picks up the file box, Angel offers to take it for her, she assures him she doesn't need his assistance.
"We're not friends."
She decides to answer his original question about how she's doing, telling him she's tired but excited about getting the business back up and running, ready to help people. She wants Angel to understand though that they aren't friends. She picks up the file box and starts to leave but the vision thing stops her.
Visions
She hears the woman in the car screaming and sees her being pulled from the car by people in blue robes. She sees a bunch of people in a cage and a bird statue she identifies as "big bird." Gunn asks about "Big Bird". Cordelia sharply responds with, "not the muppet, dumb ass."

Wesley asks her where the car is she saw in her vision. She tells him the location. Wes takes the lead in heading out.

Angel lags behind, trying to take Wesley's earlier instructions to be more attentive to heart. He asks Cordelia if she's okay, then suggests she should take the rest of the night off as he stumbles over his own feet in his rush to follow after Gunn and Wesley.

Cordelia prepares to leave
Cordelia turns out the lights, preparing to leave. She hears something, calls out, there's no answer at first.
happy to see Harmony
Harmony emerges from the shadows and greets her. Cordelia squeals, they hug, exchange pleasantries. Cordelia notes that Harm looks different than she did in High School. Harmony says she's not the same person. She notices Cordelia cut her hair. Cordy says she was just looking for a change. Harm likes it this way, off of her neck.
Harmony
Harmony looks around the lobby, wondering exactly what it is that Cordelia does. Cordelia informs her it's a detective agency. She's kind of the office manager. She asks Harmony what she's doing in town.

Harmony says she just got out of a relationship, the suffocating type, the kind where he can't live without you. She figures Cordelia knows what that's like. She thought it would be a good time to go for a change of scenery, look up old friends.

Cordy invites Harmony to stay at her place. Harmony accepts the offer.

Angel, Wes, Gunn find the carAngel hears screaming
Wes, Angel and Gunn come upon the car of the young couple. Both doors are open, the side windows smashed. Gunn asks what they should do. Wes instructs Gunn to check by the fountain, he'll take the path. Before he can tell Angel what to do, a woman screams. Angel figures he should follow that. All three of them run toward the screaming.
Angel dusts vamp guy
They find a vamp in a green robe attacking a woman. He picks her up and throws her. Angel catches her and passes her off to Wes as Gunn beats on vamp guy. Vamp guy turns to run away from Gunn, but Angel is waiting with a stake. Vamp guy is dust.
Gunn shows the robe to Wes
Gunn takes the robe he ripped off of vamp guy over to Wes and notes that the robe is green. Cordelia had said in her vision the robe was blue. Wes thinks maybe she couldn't tell since it was dark. Gunn takes off to check out the area to see if there are any more robed guys around.

Wesley notices a symbol on the robe. He asks Angel about it. Angel doesn't recognize it. Wesley says he'll have Cordelia research it as he prepares to call her on his cell phone.
Angel wonders what's nextWesley
Angel tells him he gave her the night off. He thought she looked tired. He asks Wesley if he thinks he should send her some flowers or something to say sorry about the migraines, as a thank you, a sign of appreciation. Wes snipes that's a good idea and while Angel is at it he can pick up a "sorry you were shot in the gut" bouquet for him. Angel gets the kicked puppy look and quietly says he's sorry.

Wesley informs him he can't buy trust. Angel says she told him they weren't friends anymore. Wesley thinks it's just going to take some time.

Cordy, Harmony
At Cordelia's place, she and Harmony are laughing it up, having a good time remembering their school days together over wine. Harmony remembers the power, money and popularity fondly. Cordelia agrees but says things have changed for her and she's happier now than she was then. Harmony isn't quick to believe that. Cordelia tries to convince her, Harmony laughs. Cordelia laughs and admits she's had too much to drink, she should probably shut up now. She asks Harm what's going on with her.

Harmony reiterates that she just got out of an unhealthy relationship, she's happy, she feels good about herself. She takes another drink and gets a slightly pained expression. Cordelia notices she doesn't look like she's feeling well. Harmony assures her she's okay, she's just hungry. Cordelia decides to phone out for pizza. As she leans across Harmony to get the phone, Harm morphs into vamp face. Cordelia returns to her position after getting the phone, Harmony has morphed back into human face.

Harmony pays a nocturnal visit
Cordelia is asleep in her room. Harmony enters the bedroom, sits on the end of the bed and licks her lips as she stares at Cordelia's neck. Phantom Dennis to the rescue, the bedroom door slams shut, waking Cordelia.
Cordelia wonders what's up
Harmony assures her she didn't slam the door. Cordelia tells her she has a ghost. She asks Harmony what she's doing.

Harmony apologizes, says she thought she could control herself, that she could resist the "urges." Cordelia wonders what this is about. Harmony tells her she has no idea how difficult it is to stay away from her, seeing her looking so "luscious."

The light goes on for Cordelia, unfortunately it's a low watt bulb. She thinks Harmony is a lesbian. Harmony thinks Cordelia realizes she's a vampire. She says she should have told her but she was afraid that if Cordy found out, she'd kill her.
Harmony
Cordelia assures her she's not that "narrow minded" and it doesn't matter to her, as long as Harmony is happy. Harmony admits she doesn't really know what happiness is. The last time she remembers feeling that way was back in school, with Cordelia. She feels like she's taking advantage of Cordelia now.

Cordelia tells her she's not, she just didn't realize that Harmony thought of her in that way. Harmony says she doesn't, it's just that she hasn't "had any in a while". She says to forget it, she'll go back to the couch and apologizes again. She'd appreciate it if Cordy didn't tell anyone. Cordelia assures her she'll keep the secret.

Cordelia is on the phone with Willow, asking why nobody told her about Harmony. She figures Sunnydale isn't so far away, someone could have picked up the phone.
Willow on the phone
Willow asks her what about Harmony. Cordy tells her that Harm is there. Willow is concerned, asks what happened, if Harmony came after her. Cordelia tells her she practically attacked her in the bedroom the previous night. Willow starts to ask how Harmony got in, but Cordelia cuts her off telling her it was a good thing she woke up because Harm was ready to "jump" her then and there. She figures Harmony got the message that she's not into that sort of thing when she "shot her down."
Cordy finds out about Harmony
Willow asks if she wounded her. Cordelia says she'll get over it. She shouldn't have invited her to stay at her place. Willow is pretty much confused since they're talking about two different things. She clarifies with Cordelia that everyone is clear on the fact that Harmony is a vampire?

Cordy is surprised by this bit of news. She laughs, covers her mouth, tells Willow she's embarrassed, she thought Harmony was a "great big lesbo."
Harmony overhears
From Cordelia's expression (the take foot out of mouth now look) it's clear that at this point Willow tells her about her relationship. Cordelia doesn't quite know what to say so settles for "good for you!" Willow sarcastically thanks her for the affirmation then tells her Harmony is very dangerous, Cordy needs to get out of her apartment. Cordelia says she'll call when she gets someplace safe.

Harmony enters and asks where Cordy is going. Cordelia hangs up the phone.

Angel looks for something to doAngel gets the word on Harmony
Back at the office, Wes is looking through a book, researching. Angel notes there's a label in the robe, maybe he can run something down through that. Wes says he already tried, it's a fake, there's no listing for it. Angel offers to see if he can pick up anything on the street. Wesley informs him it's daylight. He's got Gunn checking with his contacts anyway.

Angel asks what he can do. Wesley suggests he answer the phone which has just started ringing. Angel picks up, Willow tells him about Harmony.

Angel, Wes enter Cordelia's
Angel and Wes burst into Cordelia's place, crossbows at the ready. Cordelia and Harmony are sitting on the couch, painting each other's toenails. Cordelia asks them what they're doing.
Cordelia, Harmony
Angel tells her Willow called and said Cordelia was in trouble. Wesley starts to tell her Harmony is a vampire, Cordy lets him know she's already aware of that. She asks if they thought they'd just bust into her house and kill her friend without even giving Harmony a chance to explain. Angel and Wes acknowledge that was pretty much the plan.

Cordelia tells them to forget it, Harmony came to her for help. That's what they do, help people.

Wesley tells her that isn't her friend, it's a demon, a monster. She's evil. He cocks the crossbow to take a shot. Angel gently pushes the crossbow downward and tells Wes he can't do it. Cordelia doesn't feel her friend is a danger, Angel thinks they should respect her opinion on this.
Cordelia, Angel, Wes
Wes tells Cordy she's needed at the office. He wonders if she intends to leave Harmony in her apartment, posing a risk to her neighbors. Cordelia informs Wes that Harmony is her friend and she trusts her, she can stay at her place. Harmony prefers not to stay alone with the ghost.

Harmony annoying Wes
Back at the office, Cordelia is working at the computer, Wes is going through his book, looking for something on the symbol. Harmony sidles up to Wesley and pops her gum, loudly, working his last nerve.

Angel asks Cordelia what kind of bird it was that she saw in her vision. Cordelia says she's not the bird lady, it had wings and a beak, maybe it was a duck. She doesn't know. Wes wonders if it's a totem used by the robed figures in some kind of ritual.

Harmony pops her gum and laughs at the thought of a cult of duck worshippers.

Angel offers that it could be a landmark of some kind that would identify the group's headquarters. Wes isn't familiar with any red bird statuary but before he can finish his thought, Harmony pops her gum again. Wesley wants somebody to stake her if she doesn't stop doing that.
Harmony gets rid of her gum
Cordelia suggests Harmony ditch the gum. Harmony agrees, saying she just thought it would help her deal with the cravings. She tears a page out of Wesley's book and wraps the gum in it. Wes nearly has a stroke, pointing out the book is 12 centuries old! Harmony doesn't get what he's bent about, it's not like she tore up a new one.

Cordelia tells Wes she didn't do it on purpose. Harmony points out that's right and she could have because she is "evil".

Wes grabs a stake from the desk and heads for Harm. Cordelia grabs him from behind to stop him. Angel tells Harm that there's blood in the fridge, he'll get her some as he pulls her toward the small office refrigerator.
Angel, Harmony
Angel pours her a cup. Harmony takes a drink of it, doesn't like it. It doesn't taste right. Angel tells her it's pig's blood. Harmony wonders how Angel deals with it. He tells her she'll get used to it. She clarifies that she wasn't referring just to the pig's blood, but to how Angel deals with all of it, being what he is, depriving himself of the sensations of feeding which she longingly details. Angel's getting a bit wrapped up in her description when Gunn comes in, snapping him out of it.
Gunn notices Harmony
Gunn notices Harmony, smiles at her. She smiles back. Cordelia introduces her and tells Gunn she's staying in town a few days. Wesley adds that she's a vampire. Gunn is no longer smiling. He wonders if they don't kill them anymore.

Angel asks what he found out. Gunn says that robed vamps have been grabbing people off the streets for a month or so. Cordelia wonders why they haven't heard anything about it. Gunn thinks maybe because there aren't a lot of corpses turning up. Angel realizes they're not feeding on those they take, they're turning them. Wes observes that it looks like someone is building an army, but for what?

In an old theater, a crowd of vamps in robes of various colors, listens as their leader gives a motivational speech from the stage. He tells them they each have the power to be what they want to be, not just any vampire, but a Master and he'll explain how. He proceeds to explain the pyramid scheme co-op, complete with visuals. One vamp turns two humans, they in turn each turn two more and so on. All it takes to buy in to the co-op is for each new member to bring in one human to deposit in the "food bank." The lights come up to reveal a cage onstage, filled with people. The crowd of vamps applauds.

Back at the office, Gunn and Wes are mapping out disappearances, looking for a pattern. Cordelia is sitting at the computer, Harmony is sitting on the edge of the desk watching her.
Cordelia finds some info
Harmony notes that she and Cordelia always said they were going to do something with their lives and here they are, Cordy is an office manager and Harmony is dead. Cordelia admits she may not be where she thought she'd be but before she can finish the thought, her computer search turns something up. She calls to the others and tells them the symbol represents a pyramid scheme of some sort that had been busted. It was run by a motivational speaker named Doug Sanders who disappeared before he could be arrested. Cordelia calls up a list of his known meeting sites which also brings up a photo.

Harmony leans over to see the picture and spills her cup of blood all over the keyboard, causing sparks to fly and smoke to roll from it.
Cordlia, Harmony decide to go out
Wesley wants Harmony out of there, now. Harmony says she shouldn't have come, she's just screwing things up as usual. Cordelia tells her it's okay. Harmony figures that's easy for Cordelia to say, she has friends. Harmony hasn't got anyone who understands. Cordelia offers that maybe she knows someone who will. She tells the guys they're leaving for awhile.

Harmony at Caritas
At the karaoke bar, Harmony is onstage singing the theme from "The Way We Were", badly. Very badly. Cordelia and the Host look on. Cordelia asks what the Host thinks. He thinks the name "Harmony" doesn't fit very well. Harmony finishes the song and joins the Host and Cordelia at the table.
Host, Cordy, Harm
Cordelia tells the Host that Harmony is in need of some guidance. He says he gets that. Harm asks if he can help her. He says he can offer her a shot of AB negative, he hears it's supposed to be fine stuff. Cordelia asks if that's all he's going to offer. Harmony thought he was supposed to show her the right path. He tells her she's already on it, but he's not the guide, Cordelia is. He suggests Harmony stick with her and leaves the table.
Wes, Angel, Gunn arrive
Angel, Wes and Gunn enter the bar. Wes tells Cordelia they need her assistance. She asks why. Gunn explains that they've figured out the attacks have all taken place within a 10 block area, they figure the vamps' headquarters must be centered in that area somewhere.

Angel tells her they thought they could drive around the area, maybe she'd see something that would be familiar to her from the vision. Cordelia goes back to the table and tells Harm she needs to go to work, she asks if she'll be okay there. Harm assures her she will be. She's thinking of doing another number.

As Wes, Gunn, Angel and Cordelia walk down the sidewalk, Cordy looks to her side and sees Harmony walking beside her. Harm says she gets it now, the Host says she's supposed to stick with Cordelia so that's her place. She's one of the "good guys" now.

Gunn, Harm, Cordelia Wes, Angel
The gang is in Angel's car, Harmony is sitting in the back between Gunn and Cordelia, Wes is in front, Angel is driving. Harmony is giddy, babbling on about having found her purpose in fighting evil. She's pretty much getting on everyone's nerves. Wes implores Angel to do something. Angel tells him that's his job now. Wes says she won't listen to him. Angel welcomes Wes to his world.
Statue sighted
Cordelia tells Angel to stop the car. They end up across the street from the theater that serves as the vamp headquarters. The bird statue on the building is plainly visible from the street. Angel asks if that's it. Cordelia isn't sure.

Wesley reminds her that she said the bird in her vision was red. Gunn points out this one looks more green. Harmony doesn't think it looks much like a duck either. Cordelia says it looks familiar even though it's different. Angel heads across the street.
Cordelia decides wrong statue
Wes asks Cordelia again about the statue. She looks at it for a bit and decides that's not it. Wes suggests they get back into the car and keep looking, then notices Angel isn't there.
Angel turns on the lights
A red neon light comes on washing the bird statue in the glow, turning it red. Angel comes back across the street and mentions that the employee in the store next to the theater had forgotten to turn on the store's outer lights. Cordelia now recognizes the statue as the one she saw in her vision.
Wes gives orders
Wes tells Angel and Cordelia to cover the front of the building while he and Gunn check the rear to see if there's another means of entry. Harmony asks what she's supposed to do. Wes suggests she guard the car. Harmony assures him if anyone touches it she'll rip their throats out. Wes tells her no killing. She's willing to settle for maiming then. Cordelia and Wes again tell her no. Gunn figures everybody has probably heard them coming by now.
Angel offers an opinion
Cordelia tells them to go on, she'll talk to Harmony. Angel grabs Cordelia by the arm and pulls her to the side. She jerks her arm away from him. Angel tells her he's tried to stay out of it, just step back and let things happen but Harmony can't work with them. Cordelia tells him it's just temporary. Harmony is enjoying herself, she's got a reason to go on.

Angel says he doesn't want Harmony going on and Cordelia shouldn't either. She's the enemy. Cordelia thinks Angel is sounding too much like Wes. Angel tells her Wes is right. Harmony will turn on her. Cordelia wonders why he thinks so just because he did.
Angel tries reasoning
Angel tells her Harm is a vampire, it's in her nature. Cordelia points out that he's one as well. Angel reminds her Harmony has no soul. Cordelia wonders if he thinks he's better than Harm because of that. He pretty much acknowledges that sums it up. Cordelia points out that his soul didn't stop him from "betraying" the people he worked with and not only did he hurt her feelings, he gave away her clothes! He offers that he did give them to the needy. Cordelia considers herself the needy. She wonders if he knows how concerned she was about what could have happened if Angelus had come back, if Angel had gone insane and slept with Darla.

Angel, looking more than a little sheepish, tells her she knows he wouldn't do that.
Angel offers a suggestion
Gunn and Wes return saying the building is shut down, they have no way of knowing how many vamps are inside. Angel offers to pretend he wants to join them, check things out. Gunn doesn't think it's a good idea, too many vamps know who Angel is. Wesley points out that some of them can sense his soul, so it wouldn't work.

Cordelia suggests Harmony for the job, no soul and nobody knows her because she's new in town. Wes doesn't like the idea. Gunn doesn't either. Cordelia is sure Harm can handle it. Harmony isn't sure, she thought maybe she'd be starting out with some light clerical work, nothing too intense.
Harm's ready
Cordy tells her this is the opportunity she needs. Harmony still isn't sure, but she finally gets excited about the possibilities. She morphs into vamp face and heads across the street to the theater. Cordelia calls after her that they'll meet her in back.

Harmony is escorted into the theater by a vamp in a yellow robe who gives her a copy of "Selective Slaughter" authored by their leader, Doug Sanders. Doug is doing his motivational routine for the crowd. Harmony takes a seat in the audience and listens attentively. Doug promotes one of his followers onstage, then offers him his choice of snacks from the humans in the cage.

The gang reach the back of the building, Harmony isn't there. Cordelia suggests they give her more time. Wes figures it was a bad idea depending on her. Angel says if she's in trouble, they'll get her out of it. Gunn isn't liking the notion of rescuing a vampire from vampires.

Harmony joins them, tells them there's 100 or so inside and a cage full of people. She says she left the back door open and urges them to follow her in.

Ready for battle
Harmony leads them in, the place seems deserted. Harm babbles on, thanking them for helping her find her destiny. She never felt like she belonged anywhere before, now she does. Wes asks where the vampires are. Harmony informs him they're behind them. Everybody turns and finds themselves surrounded. Harmony has found where she belongs, with the vamps.

Doug arrives, impressed with Harmony's efforts considering she's only been a member for 20 minutes. She's already delivered two to turn, one for food and Angel, who he recognizes. He offers Harmony promotion to "blue robe status". As she happily dons her robe, Cordelia has a few words for her. Harmony tells her she shuts out "mental roadblocks" and ignores her.

Doug tells Wes and the others to put down their weapons. He doesn't figure Angel wants all of his friends to die horribly. Angel says he doesn't, then calls to Wes who shouts to the others to kill them all. A melee ensues. Most of the vamps head for the exits.

Cordelia and Harmony whale on each other. Gunn, Angel and Wes are all occupied fighting other members of the group. Angel saves Wes from a bad situation by getting the vamp who's attacking Wes off of him. He helps Wes up, asks if he's okay then instructs him to get the cage open and set the people inside free.

Doug grabs a fire ax from the wall and goes after Angel with it. As they continue to fight, Cordy and Harmony are also still going at each other as Gunn is fighting with other vamps.

Harmony throws Cordelia across the floor. She walks over to her, turns her face up and finds herself faced with a crossbow pointed at her throat. She laughs, pointing out that Cordelia isn't very bright, that won't kill her. Cordy knows that, but she figures it will hurt like hell. She aims a crossbow in the other hand at Harmony's heart, assuring her that one will kill her.

Wes and Gunn finish off the remaining vamps and open the door to the cage, freeing those inside.

Harmony backs away from Cordelia who still has the crossbow pointed at her chest. She assures her it wasn't personal, it's just that she's "evil".

Angel gets the ax away from Doug and decapitates him with it.
Cordelia watches Harm depart
Cordelia lowers the crossbow. Harmony wants to know that they're still friends. Cordelia assures her they are not. She wants Harmony out of town and away from her as soon as possible. Harm starts to mention that she left some stuff at Cordelia's place. Cordy responds by raising the crossbow. Harmony takes off. Cordelia watches her go. Angel approaches. Cordelia tells him not to say anything. She walks off.

Wes
The next day, Angel enters the office, his presence having been requested by Wesley. Wes motions for him to sit down. He wants to talk about the situation between Angel and Cordelia. He knows things are strained and he's concerned it may be difficult for the two of them working in close quarters. Angel says it's okay, he's willing to give Cordelia the space she needs. Wes seems surprised it was that simple. He tells Angel that's a good attitude. Time and space are what's needed and as long as that's understood --- He's interrupted by the sound of Cordelia joyfully squealing from the outer office.
Cordelia, Angel
She opens the door, her arms laden with new clothes. The desk outside the office is piled with her new wardrobe, boxes and shopping bags. Cordelia is beside herself. Angel smiles. She gushes over her new wardrobe, giving Angel a hug, tells him he has great taste, a "gay man's taste." She loves everything. She's thrilled. Wes is looking on, perplexed. Cordelia thanks Angel repeatedly then heads out to try on her new things. Angel leaves, happy with the results of his efforts. Wesley simply looks irritated.
