| Wow, you did great with this summation of Angel's and Buffy's relationship. I love how she finally realized that he treats her like a child and the way she was phrased it. I thought it so funny when he threw her journal calling it a book of lies. The best was when she admitted that Spike loved her more then Angel ever could. Thank you for this fantastic chapter. I hope you continue to do better. |

Oh oh oh have you NAILED Bangel!!!! When writing my season 1 story I was struck by how that "relationship" really was fact by fact and incident by incident and you have encapsulated it perfectly!!! He did NOTHING, nothing to help her save veiled warnings and watching!!!! The "great epic love" was a crock from start to finish. I excuse Buffy totally as she was so very young but he was far from that.
You have him perfectly depicted in all his denials and arrogance as he sees her words condemn him properly. He was ever this way acting as though he were the "chosen of the Powers" instead of just a convenient powerful being with a forced soul they picked to use.
LOVE this story and well worth the wait. In fact this chapter is powerful enough to nearly be stand alone! (or be put out as Meta on the analysis of the Bangel relationship!).
So sorry you've had the RL demons at your heels (me too)......so glad you have slain them for now!

Right now I just want to hit Angel with a wrecking ball right to the face.
Reading her journal entry about Giles was heartbreaking. It reminded me of how many times she had been betrayed by him, the one person who should have understood what she was going through, and helped her with it. I am looking forward to Angel's entry, in particular after what she said to Wes about it, and for Buffy's visit to LA. Thanks for the great update. |

Good Lord I hate him sometimes. I really think you have a very good grasp on what they SHOULD have put in the show. They made it seem like Buffy was immature, irrisponsible, and whiney. Yes, she rally could be, but I feel like they made us overlook all of what had happened to her in the few years she was a slayer. You were right in adding that she had thought about suicide, any normal person would have!

Can you tell I love the chapter?
Her take on Giles was far too kind IMHO. At least from what Buffy had as evidence she is being too nice. I've always wondered if Giles felt he'd been too unconventional a watcher and it had led to Buffy dying and that was why he went to London and had Quentin Travers personality transplanted into him.......Oooo ooooo....the council did that bodyswitch thing with Giles and Travers!!!! Yes, that's it!!!! (another plot bunny is born!).

First thought: Angel is a complete and utter ass! How could anyone read that and think the things that he did. *throws hands up in frustration* Of course he's not supposed to be reading it, but that's a whole other rant, which I'll save you from.
I love this introspective Buffy and considering the time when she wrote this entry...I can see how this affected her decisions regarding Spike and Giles there at the end.

| This was so good, and being reminded of Spike's reaction to receiving the picture of 'his girls' had me tearing up again. I love that Wes decided to do the right thing and tell Buffy everything, she certainly had a right to know. I love her plans for both Angel and Spike, and I loved Wes's wish that Angel's pain be as severe as Spike's. I am really looking forward to what Buffy had to say about Angel in her journal, particularly after her smugness when she said he won't like it. Thanks for the great update. |

Go Rae!!! Oh yeah! That was an excellent way for Buffy to find out. It avoids more of the angsty that happened the longer Spike went without finding her. Since he was just recorporalized it works out great. I so love this story. I can see Angel reading the journal, completely in character (and telling himself and everyone else that he was only reading it in her best interests, so he could "help" her better by knowing the things he'd missed by being in LA...) He's the king of rationalizations!

| Sorry hun, but there really won't be any angst except for the not so nice things that Buffy continues to speak about all of them in her journal. It's more of a happy reunion type thing after discovering that she was trying to work things out for herself and everyone around her in her journal. | What I am trying to do with teh journal entries is take the things that actually happened in the show so others might see how scarily flawed they all were. I loved all the characters, but I also saw them as tearing others down for doing some of the same things they did. Which makes them human and more believable for me. |

| I love how you have Buffy coming to terms and really identifying the truth behind Willow & Xander. Recognizing them for their flaws and seeing how much she had allowed them to dictate what she did in her personal life. Angel-on the other hand-infuriates the hell out of me. I love how in one thought he's offended by the thought of her friends ruling Buffy's life, but then thinking he needed to tell her what to do. Hypocrit, thy name is Angel. |

| God, Angel is thick as a brick wall! I loved this chapter. My favorite one so far because it's all so true. It feels good that Buffy finally sees the light. Every single thing that bugs me about Xander and Willow is right there in Buffy's journal. I wish she would have mentioned the "lets throw Buffy out of her own house" episode. Wonder how she felt about that one. |
| This part of the journal was written before that happened. In my little world here she started looking at them when she found out Spike had a soul. That is why there is not going to be any real mention of what goes on in season 7 in the journal. Thanks for the great review. |

| I gotta be honest... not a big fan of the friend-hating. I loved the show mainly for the people around Buffy, so having her say how horrible they were didn't sit too well with me. Still, I think this chapter is well-written and that the story as a whole is great. I'm not giving up on it! |
| I'm going to be perfectly honest with you. This fic is about all of their flaws. There will be more entries on Giles, Angel, Buffy and Spike all done in the same manner. In this chapter there was only one thing that I put in it that wasn't on the show. Everything else is exactly what did happen on the show and that is what I will be doing with all of them. I am letting Buffy see that none of them not even herself was perfect and that you must accept this part of yourself and the ppl around you before you can truly forgive yourself and others and be happy. |

I guess I didn't make it as clear as I thought in the first part of the fic. She wrote this journal throughout S7 because she went back and read all of her other diaries since she'd moved to Sunnydale and wasn't liking the person she'd become. This is her way of working through her issues and is personal and has nothing to do with what happened in S7, just with finding herself and her emotions. I'm sorry I didn't make it clear enough I hope that helps.

Everything in this entry ijs stuffy that shoiuld've been said out loud in canon. That delusting spell was the first clear indication of Willow overriding someone elses free will. It would've been different if she had told him she had an idea, explained the spell and gotten his permission but she didn't do any of that.
And Angel really is clueless isn't he? He doesn't get the irony in his own thoughts? |

| I had to laugh at Angel’s reaction to Buffy’s words about Xander and Willow. His very response to it was to try and control her the same as they did. You did such an excellent job of defining a major theme through the whole series in this chapter. Most of the people in her life expected her to save the world and lead everyone in the fight for good, but they all treated her as if she was too young, dumb, or immature to make any decisions in the other parts of her life. Thanks for another great update. |

Glad to see your Wes realizing, sooner than on the show, that Angel thinks whatever he does must be sanctioned by the Powers because he's their "Champion".
