And I understand that you didn't follow whatever your readers wanted, but instead had a plot that was developed before the Kill Nancy rallies began. I just thought that it'd be interesting to see her alive, just as bitchy as ever, only kicked around by the full knowledge that everything she'd done was miserably wrong. And when I asked about Angel, I didn't mean 'why isn't he helping them?' I meant, what actions will he take once he finds out that Nancy is lying dead somewhere--especially when he never trusted Spike in the first place. I have a habit of picking too much. It was good to see Buffy finally confront Travers at her best; the tension's just nail-biting right now. (Skipping back a little bit, I was sort of disappointed by how Nancy's character was dealt with, even though it seemed to be the popular route to go. I think it would have made a better read if she were kept alive and forced to face everything she'd done to the others. Also, what about Angel?) Nancy's death had nothing to do with what was "popular." I'd already decided to go that route a while back, and it was for reasons that are important to this story, one of which being this story is not about Nancy's redemption. It would've added unecessay drag to the end of the story to have Nancy go all "I learned a valuable lesson," plus I felt it gave the story too much of an "after school special feel." She played with fire, she got burnt--end of story. It's not my style to have Nancy learn her lesson and have everyone end the fic with a big group hug. I'm sorry. As for Angel, I'm not ignoring him, but I didn't think it made any sense for them to run and get him to help them rescue Buffy. Real life grief is like that - a big fat tangle of emotions, and you portrayed it perfectly. Willow is rocking as usual too. I have to admit as horrible as I think Nancy is I do feel sorry for her, to not even be knocked unconscious but just incapacitated before being left as vampire fodder so that she knows exactly what is happening to her. Just now, though, I saw that you didn't have *one single review* for the new chapter, and I just had to... It's been a wild ride, hon, and though I can't say that I loved every second of it, I stuck with it (not hard to do) and I'm glad. Wasn't keen on Buffy not being the Slayer, at first, but I see it's turned out great. Nancy makes a much more believeable antagonist than a non-Slayer would, and a much more dangerous one, too. Is she a static char, or will there be change with her? It would be wonderful to see Nancy get hit full in the face with the truth, and realize how bad she screwed up (after shye'd almost ruined everything, of course). She's not a bad char, either, I like Nancy despite her faults. In fact, it's very refreshing to see a flawed char that's not either completely OOC or just plain spineless. Doing good, hon- keep it up! Can't applaud you enough, really, and I hope that this somewhat makes up for never reviewing prior to now. As a writer, I know how great reviews are, too. I was more questioning why Nancy hadn't been terminated, I mean with dating Angel she is hardly toting the company line here. I think that she should at least be concerned that a slayers life is cheap in the eyes of the watchers. I mean if it was me hearing that some one that you think is your ally in this has no problem with killing off slayers if they feel they are wrong for the job would make me weary to say the least. I understood that. I actually wasn't referring to your review, so don't worry about that. The careful, patient way in which Spike takes care of Buffy is so heartwrenchingly touching—such a tender moment between the two of them. Paying attention to details like her hair—gah! If that girl doesn’t wake up and realize he’s worthy of her love soon, Imma bitch-slap her! ;) At the same time, wow, poor Buf. So much betrayal, her whole world turned upside down. At least she has Spike to rely on—and let’s stop and marvel at the beauty/irony of that! And it seems like her realization that humans can be just as evil as demons might be a good thing in terms of how much she thinks of Spike as a “monster” and how much she allows herself to feel for him… (but wait don’t tell me!! ) This all seems like a wonderful breakthrough for the two of them, in the midst of all her pain. Can’t wait to see if/how it pans out! I’m also VERY excited that Giles will be back in the picture—can’t wait to see his reaction to what the Council did to his love. It looks like "the game´s afoot" and things are starting to move. The preceding chapters with B&S "working out their issues" have been very interesting although I have sometimes wished for an intermission of some kind like : "Meanwhile Back In Sunnydale..." or "Meanwhile At The Watchers Council..." or something like that. Anyway, their situation has been fascinating enough to keep it exciting. I just hope that from now on the whole thing becomes a bit more "Mixy", meaning that Character development/Relationship development/Plot&Adventure development becomes more mixed together. I'm also really enjoying the exploration of the effects of the claim between two people who don't like each other very much - at least, not right away.
