| Very good story. Unfortunately, a woman doesn't have any choice to be raped or not. So she can't allow herself to be raped. Rape is force, not a choice. |
But that is in your cultural beliefs...there are some cultures that say the woman is to be blamed and let it happen because she was too immodest and asked for it, thereby shaming her family. I may not believe that but unfortunaly some culture still do.

| This is one of the most concise and well thought out explanation I have ever heard on the different types of vampires. It is very similar to what I have always thought, but unlike my thoughts which tend to be muddled, yours are very clear. It also clearly explains the different types of vampires that we met in Joss’s world. Harm was the perfect example of this. And your characterization of Liam-Angelus-Angel was so correct, with a big yuck when you really think about that last line. I so look forward to the updates of this story, and how sad it is that I am a bit jealous of Penny who gets to do what I have always wanted to do to the characters of BtVS. |

I think your analysis on vampiric nature in general is quite on the money. Your character assessment of Liam/Angelus/Angel is also spot on.
I have always seen the great "road to redemption" of Angel as non existant. He spent all those years after the curse doing only two things (aside from brooding and the guilt the curse ensured)he stopped killing humans for food and he avoided humans as much as possible (because he WANTED to kill them for food and sport, as shown on the show Angel). He had no desire to lift a finger to help humans and regretted the few times he did try. It was the sight of Buffy, dressed like a little girl and sucking on a LOLLIPOP that made him rush to "help"... That help consisted of stalking her, making vague warnings and watching her fight!
Okay, off my soapbox for now. You said it well in this chapter.

| Some events in canon (Spike's getting a soul and his mother's turning) would be difficult to explain in this framework. Or any framework for that matter, since the show isn't self-consistent. I hope you don't worry about them too much. |

| You really put a lot of valid points into this chapter! I am enjoying reading this. Penny is wonderful with her explanations of vampire and human customs. I think she is enjoying knocking Angel off the pedestal Buffy has him on, rightly so. |

Ah, yes...and now we get to the part of hoboAngel being enraptured with a little blonde cheerleader. From the time he left the people in the hotel to die from that demon, Angel was on the road to the gutter, finally deciding to live as a bum feeding off rats after he fed off the dying man in the diner in the '70s. He spent over 20 years like that until Whistler enticed him to help by showing him Buffy.
And there is good in Angel, if he's nurtured properly in that direction. He showed it in Season 1 of AtS with Cordy, Doyle, and Wes - the first real friends he'd ever had. He lost the point of the mission once the Shanshu Prophecy was discovered, though. Then losing Cordy as his compass - well, we all know how that ended up.
Poor Spike doesn't get to keep all his secrets here, but it's for the greater good, since they might start looking at him like an equal, finally. Shame it had to be pointed out like this, though.
Just waiting for Buffy to speak up about what she's hearing about Angel. You know her mind has to be going a mile a minute on where Penny might be going with this. The truth will set you free, sweetie, if you can bear to accept it. |

| wow.. they way you have written this has changed everything.. angelus is a bastard and he only wanted to "be good" cause of his adult lust to a attractive *young* and probably virgin child!! thats amazing how you potray the events of angels path to redemption and the fact that you have explained everything so indepth and with great knowledge, truly makes this story magnificent!! keep up the GREAT work!!! |
