This is absolutely beautifully written:“Without his soul, Angel has no humanity in him. His demon has destroyed it all. The soul brings with it a semblance of humanity, sort of like a residual echo, but that’s lost when the soul is.” Angel was always a facade of a person ..just to gloss over the evil. Spike's humanity shines past the demon.

I think it's obvious why Giles allowed Buffy to be persuaded by Angel that soulless vampires can't love. Spike already pointed out that Giles had held Buffy responsible for Jenny's death. It was a way to make sure she didn't endanger them all again, since he felt she wasn't capable of making the right decision on her own. The whole group never completely trusted her decising making capabilities after the Angelus incident, even though there was no way she could have known the soul wasn't anchored.
It was also obvious that Giles didn't really hold that belief in himself. He trusted the demon that faked removing Angel's soul in S3 - Giles had introduced the demon to his wife. Giles also made the suggestion to Spike of using the chip as the impetus for redeeming himself. He never would have brought it up if he didn't already think that Spike had the capability for both change, and compassion towards his former food source. Spike had kept Giles safe from Dru and Angelus when they were trying to get info on Acathla.
It was Buffy who wasn't trusted. And obviously, with a fair amount of reason, since she never bothered to figure out for herself the true ways of life. Yes, the girl could face demons to the death every night, but she had no backbone. No will power in the face of peer pressure. |

| LOL... I loved Spike's description of Angel's singing. With the Clear Sight spell in effect it should be an interesting twenty-four hours. I can't wait to find out how dim Angel's humanity light is. Great chapter! |

Weeeelllll, now. Looks like things are about to get *very* interesting. A spell to show humanity. Hmmm...methinks our self-proclaimed 'Champion of the PTBs' is going to be a bit, what's that word...lacking? And all while our resident 'evil, souless thing with only a chip in his head to prevent the total slaughter of all things Slayer and Scoobies' has humanity coming out of the ears.

Huh, well that spell would be useful in slaying. It reminds me of The Merchant of Sunnydale by Sersi & Cylla.

| Jenny just came up with two very great spells, I love the idea of a disinvite spell mixed with a protection spell. And Buffy to actually suggest the disinvite for Angel, she really is changing. It is interesting seeing how different Giles is before he went through the time with Angelus. Although he was a bit fatalistic in some things, in others he was much more open. The time with Angelus and the lies Angel told about vampires really did a number on all those involved, and you are capturing the differences beautifully. I am looking forward to the results of the spell of Clear Sight, it should prove interesting. And I love that Joyce called Spike on how he played her. Thanks for the great update. |

| Oooo, I love this! Excellent ideas. I love that Buffy's assumptions are being torn apart. And that's what they were. She never bothered to think for herself. She just took what others told her as gospel. Perfect candidate for brain washing. (Pathetic, really) Thank goodness everyone else hasn't been blinded in regards to Angel, or nothing would ever get set right. |

Well that was a simple spell, not even Willow should botch one like that, well ofcourse she'd probably mange for the spell to last 24 hours instead of 24 seconds....he'd be like a flashlight for the world to see...quite a useful spell during a blackout...lol
Ofcourse Angelus doesn't have any humanity left in him, he never had much of it in the first place, where William was a scholar, a poet ablete a bad one but still it says allot about his charactor and level of humanity, Liam was a liar a cheat, a theif and scoundrel, not much humanity in him to begin with. So really Angel has to make up for all the evil he did with and without a soul, maybe he was cursed with a priests soul...lol.
We gonna see a dumping of the Forehead soon right? Really public and humiliating dumping with a few blows to the head for good measure right, cos that would be cool...lol
About bloody time, the past and the future collides and fights over the past and future Spike conbined in one. Cannot wait for that.

The spell is meant to last for 24 hrs...I think Willow would have tried to tweek it a little...thats where the problems arise.
