Yep, there's every chance that sooner or later something similar would have happened, but Willow's main incentive is that she doesn't want to feel like everyone thinks she's to blame. She might tell herself that it's to save Dawn, but it probably has more to do with the disappointed look in Tara's eye, or the accusing looks Dawn would treat her to once she found out the whole story. |

Willow really thinks that if she pulls this off, she can get off free... And while she missed Tara when they were separated, she really takes her for granted as soon as their being together begins to feel 'normal'.
As for her and Xander, I sometimes wish that back in S3 they had stayed together instead of Willow getting back with Oz. They so deserve each other. |
