Holy CATS.

Q: Good episode, Dori?
OH, yeah. Wow.

Well. It's definitely Spike doing the killing.

And some people are going to be VERY happy with a certain Xander-Spike scene.
Spike's fist and Xander's fac.

The music definitely was the trigger, I think. It sets him off, switches off the memory--and apparently, the chip. Because he doesn't pay any attention to the chip pain when he's hearing the music.

Q: Was Buffy nice to Spike?
She was, by God.

OK. Spikefeed.

Spike is burying the body of the girl from last week in the basement of some house. He's humming the song--"Oh, don't deceive me, oh, never leave me, how could you use a poor maiden so?"

But when he gets back to Xander's, and Buffy is there freaking about what Holden told her,he doesn't remember anything. Doesn't remember killing. Doesn't remember burying anybody. Remembers talking to some girls.

So they get Anya to watch him, and she sneaks into the room to look for clues. And he wakes up and wants to know what she's doing. She says, "Sex." And then she 's all over him. <G> I think she talked herself into it. <G>

But when she tries to kiss him, he turns away. Very obviously NOT interested. And he apologizes to her for hurting her feelings.

So he goes out, Anya calls Buffy, and Buffy follows him. He's out amongst a huge crowd of people, and he walks by an old man, playing a harmonica.

The old guy starts playing The Song, and Spike's whole attitude changes. He picks up this girl, takes her into the alley, is about to bite her when Buffy comes up. He stops. And Buffy says, "You know you want it. You know I want you to."

So he bites the girl.

And yes, the same music he was humming before.

When the girl sags, Spike seems to come to himself, and he's not happy. He looks--horrified. And he runs away. Then Buffy morphs into Spike.

Buffy, being short, lost him in the crowd, apparently, and comes to Xander's. She bursts into Spike's room and asks him if he killed the girl. He's confused, doesn't know what she's talking about. They have a conversation about what Holden told her and what she saw at the Promenade.

He denies killing anybody, says that he could never do that now, he's barely able to live with what he did, does she think he's going to add to that? He means it. He looks sick just at the thought.

He says he goes out, talks to girls because he can't talk to Buffy. It's just passing the time.

Q: Dori, it's very clear that Spike is the victim in this episode isn't it. At least, it sounds so from what we're hearing
Yes, it's VERY clear.

He's mostly together, but on the edge, holding on by his fingernails.

He thinks Buffy's jealous because he's talking to other girls, tells her it's still all about her and she's crazy to think that any other girl would mean anything to him.

That whole scene is beautifully done. Wow. He's so confused, and a little hurt that she could even think that of him...

When she leaves, he gets ready to go out, and finds a box of cigarettes in his jacket pocket. He flashes on the girl at the Bronze, putting them on the bar. He goes to the Bronze, or wherever--maybe a new place--and starts asking questions, trying to find out what's going on.

Oh, but wait. I forgot the best part. <EG>

As he's going out, Xander gets between him and the door. He tells Spike that Buffy wants him to stay there. And then Spike punches Xander in the face, knocks him out. And immediately howls as the chip fires.

<G> Thought that would get a woo hoo...

Okay, so he's looking for info. Not coming up with much. But he's starting to remember things... He calls Buffy on her cell phone, tells her he's remembering, thinks he's done some very bad things.

She's out looking for him. He tells her about a house, and she says she'll meet him there.

In the basement of the house, Morphy!Spike tells him he was bad to do it, but they can make it work.

He tells it, "You're NOT HERE." BUffy comes down the steps. He tells her he thinks he killed people, buried them in the basement.

Q: Is this ep as creepy/scary as it sounds, Dori? I'm finding Morphy really quite frightening
Yes, VERY creepy.

Q: Dori, good?
YES.

Morphy!Spike starts singing the tune.

It tells Spike, "You know what I want you to do."

I'm a little fuzzy on the exact sequence, because... well, you'll see why in a minute. <G>

Buffy and Spike fight, and during it, he picks up a piece of broken glass and slashes her shoulder. And then, all the dead people start rising. They've all been vamped.

The new vamps surround Buffy, grab for her. Morphy tells Spike to taste her, make her weak. THe vamps are holding her still, and Spike comes up to her, vamped out. He leans in on her right--where the old scars are--makes as if to bite, pulls back, moves to the other side.

She's not afraid, really, more upset that it's come to this.

He nuzzles at her neck, then moves down her shoulder to the open wound from the glass. And he puts his mouth to the cut. Licks at the blood. He's enjoying the taste of it. And I must remember to look at her face next time I watch it...

Q: Is this sexy, scary or both? Because it sounds sexy to me <blush>
it was. <G> Both.

And when he gets the taste of her in his mouth...he remembers.

All the biting, all the killing, all the burying.

And it's devastating. He flings himself away from her.

Pulls into a little ball, rocking.

Morphy leans down, tells him, "You failed. And now she's going to kill you."

Buffy dusts all of the vamps, boom-boom-boom-boom, and then comes over to where Spike is cowering in the corner. She stands in front of him, looking down. He looks up. Looks at her, looks at the stake in her hand. THen he straightens up, moves out of the corner, pulls back his jacket. He's looking up at her, and oh, man, the expression on his face...!

Q: Dori -- do you think that throughout this, he comes across sympathetically even to those predisposed to hate him and/or this storyline?
I would say yes, he does.

Q: Dori did you watch this bit through your hands? Cos I'm watching through my hands here!
<G> No, I was on the edge of my seat.

Q: describe the expression on his face. noble? pathetic? loving? fearful?
He's ready. He wants her to do it. And he's sorry to put her through this.

And she looks at him, ready to let her do what she has to do, and she drops the stake.

He's broken. "No," he says. "Do it. He said you'd do it!"

Q: As good as the Church scene?
aaaaaaalmost as good. <G>

She tells him there's something playing them all. He wants to know why it's doing this to him.

And he asks her to help him. "Can you help me?"

Okay, gotta wake kids, BRB.

<cue a resounding chorus of "Dori you are evil">

She takes him to her house. He's wrapped in a blanket, staring out at nothing. The rest of them are there, too, trying to figure out what to do.

They're not sure what's going on. But Buffy says that the Big Bad was using him, making him kill.

<cue A chorus of "We love you Dori">

Buffy says that Spike has been closer than anyone to the BB, and that she's going to have to get close to Spike.

<cue smutty humour. What? It's late in Australia and early in the US...>

She's very gentle with him in the basement, too, after she tosses away the stake.

Quick impressions

dori, what was shippy/positive about the ep for you?

Pretty much everything.

The way she didn't want to believe that he was doing it.

The way she was jealous of the girl she saw him with. Definitely a jealousy vibe there. <G>

The way she threw down the stake when he bared his chest to her.

THe way he said it was still all about her...

Dori, mark out of 10 and favourite scene?

10 out of ten, and baring his chest for the stake.

Spikefeed will prolly be late this afternoon, or even tonight.
