This is a place for us to respond to criticisms that have been made of Spike or of Spike and Buffy's relationship, and to some of the myths of Buffy fandom.

Feburary 18 - Section added to site. Note that these are still in preparation; just because there isn't a page against something doesn't mean it's not able to be debunked! :-)

The Myths we debunk:

Angel

• Buffy and Angel had a Romantic Off-screen Meeting
• Buffy is still in love with Angel
• Buffy is using Spike for sex to get back at Angel or to get over Angel

BTVS Mythology

• To kill the Slayer, you have to love her (or "I didn't know that Dru had the hots for Kendra")

Buffy and Spike

• Buffy can't date another vampire. That would be repetitive.
• Spike is a psychopathic stalker and having Buffy show anything but revulsion towards him sends a dangerous message to young women.
• Buffy will never love Spike
• Spike raped Buffy in the Bronze (in Dead Things)
• Buffy tried to say no to Spike many times (from Wrecked through As You Were), but she was too weak and couldn't make him stop.
• Spike encouraged the relationship even though he knew it was bad for both of them
• Buffy was the one who said the relationship was unhealthy. Spike didn't care if she was using him and encouraged her to keep on doing it.
• Spike was always trying to touch her inappropriately in public. She tried to fend him off, even though she ended up giving in most of the time. In public, HE was the one also trying to slip his fingers somewhere.
• When Riley caught them in bed together, Spike rubbed the fact in Riley's face. Buffy's attitude in the same situation was to get business done.
• Spike got rid of Katrina's body. Buffy was ready to face the consequences.

Spike

• Vampires don't know right from wrong
• Spike is stupid, inept, and generally a loser.
• Spike is a sex-crazed abuser, and Buffy is the battered girlfriend. [POSTED 16/1/02]
