I heard from a annoymous souce who claims to be related to someone who knows someone you knows how Buffy will be brought back, maybe. Man I really need to get better sources. Anyways she decided to have a laugh and make us all work for the oh so juicy tid-bit of spoiler-fun. The only hint she gave was, get this:

Nomenclature is a kind of tree.

Now, upon doing a bit of research (going to yahoo and typing "nomenclature tree") I found out that it a kind of family tree no less. I'm in the very spirit of vexation. How does does a family tree bring her back....???

From Joe_Bob: On Buffy, do you think Spike will have a bigger role next season?

For sure. With Giles leaving and the tension between Buffy and Spike building (at the speed of frozen molasses, but nonetheless building), Joss will give him more face time. You can also expect more face time for Xander and Anya.

From Akane: Do you have any more details on how Willow helps get Buffy to live again? And do you know if her memory is intact?

A spell. And for now, I can only tell you that she's freaked out to learn life has gone on in her absence--for about three months.

I just got some new information on episode 4. It is written by Jane Espenson & Doug Petrie and will be directed by James Contner. It starts shooting on 8/10. Right now they are looking to cast a character currently known as "Tucker" for a probable recurring role. He's described as "nerdy but kind of cute".

So, I'm sitting in Molly Malone's bar on Fairfax near the Miracle Mile district at a farewell party for my friend Amy L. and a band takes the stage. Just to be courteous, I glance up at the lead singer. Hey! That guy looks familiar. Why am I so bad at connecting names to faces? Hey!! That's Warren -- Gepetto to BuffyBot's Pinocchio! On the stage was Adam Busch, known to you all as Warren the Sleazy Sexbot-maker, singing with his band, 28 Orange Street. I usually hate bar bands, but I thought 28 Orange Street was pretty rockin' -- so after the set ended, I went backstage to say hey and buy a CD. Adam and I talked for a bit. He's totally sweet, and I am now the proud owner of 28 Orange Street's CD, called COMMON ROTATION, and a nifty 28 Orange Street bumper sticker, currently being brandished by my file cabinet. Anyway, the spoiler part of this, for you newshounds, is that Warren will return in episode 4, and Adam is contracted to appear in 10 episodes in Season 6. I asked if he was going to be in the musical episode, and he didn't even know it was happening, but maybe if Joss hears that Adam is a professional singer that will change. Anyway, if you have a minute, check out 28 Orange Street's website, or check out the group at Molly Malone's (585 N Fairfax Ave., 323-935-1577) on most Tuesday nights.

(for full report, click on link; report excerpted below)

By this time, Shanie and I decided to talk to one of the Security guys and find out what was going on. That was when we found out that SMG wasn't there - although we did see at least two stunt-Buffys (and a stunt-Willow) hanging around. We were not allowed to watch the filming tonight - it was primarily a stunt shoot with motorcycles, and the crew had blocked off an entire street inside the park to do it.

By now it was dark, there were vans driving around, and a production assistant was running back and forth among the trailers. We figured sooner or later the cast members would come out and get into one of the vans to be taken to the shoot, so we settled in to wait. Sure enough, eventually they all came out. Aly-as-Willow was wearing a long purple dress. Amber-as-Tara was wearing a dark colored top of some sort and these light purply pants. I didn't pay attention to what Nick-as-Xander was wearing....

From One Good Day member cat:

A friend of mine has a friend that has given him information on the shooting schedule and locations for BtVS. Last night, August 1, he and some others watched the filming of a scene rom the frist episode of this next season. Upon reaching the filming location, he was instructed by security to remain a certain distance from the filming area (about 100 yrds or so). The entire cast, accept Dawn was at the location.

Buffy(Buffy-Bot?) - wore long skirt with orange jacket.

Tara - wore jeans and pink top

Willow - wore bright orange sweater

Anya - (can't remember)

Giles - blue jeans w/green sweater and white dress shirt underneath.

Spike - black jeans, black shirt, carrying red bag

Xander - blue jeans, blue top, better hair than last season

Buffy is being chased by demons on motorcycles. 2 are in motion and the others are on stand by. Spike and the others are fightng with the demons. Buffy yells to Willow , " Willow, I need your service, help !" Camera focuses to Willow casting a spell. All of this takes place at night with bushes all around.

The person that was directing the motorcycles at one point refered to the demons as aliens (?). Thought it may have been his way of trying to confuse the people watching them film. He did speak to them at one point and confirmed that they would be filming in the same park the next night (8/2), but it would be in different location. At one point, a production staff member came and spoke to the few people that were watching, including my friend. He confirmed that they were filming a scene from the first episode of the season. He assured everyone that Buffy would be back in the first episode and she would be the same old Buffy. He also encouraged people to spread the news that the show will be back this season and it will be the same show we all know and love. He also confrimed that Dawn was the only member not on set that night.

He then told my friend where they would be filming next week, but that it would be a locked set. The information he gave coincided with the information we had already recieved. In all, it appears that the security and production staff were not bothered by the few fans lurking on the outskirts. As long as you didn't break the rules, you were welcome to watch. The production staff member insisted that they were watching Buffy and not the Buffybot, but based on her actions and dialogue, my friend believes it was the Buffybot SMG was portraying.

Season Six SPOILERS!!!

*ahem* neway...I found this at the Faithful mailing list. It's a forwarded message.

from Mystwalker:

NO ONE EVER EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!

There be spoilers below - read at your own risk.

Okay,

So, this guy at a local comic shop I go to had a wonderful conversation with me this morning about Buffy. He gave me everything he's heard - and apparently his source is highly reliable and close to the show. Here it all is:

This 1st hour of the season premier will star the Buffy-bot as Buffy.

Willow will RAISE BUFFY FROM THE DEAD. How, you ask? Well, it's explained like this: Joyce died a NATURAL death - it was her time to go. Bufy died a SUPERNATURAL death - so she can be raised with no problem.

Buffy was happy being dead - which means all through the season she's going to be suicidal.

Giles is becomming a recurring character, which means they're going to bring someone new in (no one knows who or what that new thin will be, but with Joyce dead and Giles only on every now and then the show needs an older, wiser character).

Angel won't know that Buffy's back from the dead.

A new slayer WILL NOT BE CALLED - the Slayerness has already jumped to Faith - Buffy is, indeed, the anomaly (*does her dance of "I was right!"ness*).

Willow is being setup to become a Villain (although it may not happen unless Allison decides to leave the show). Why? Because Giles has been warning her about the dangers of Magic - she's been dabling in things that are drawing her closer to darkness (remember the black eyes thing?).

Spike's chip hasn't been active since the Initiative went down - the pain caused by hurting humans is his CONSCIENCE. He's good because deep down, he wants to be.

If Faith comes back (a definate possibility), she'll come back on Angel.

That's it, and as always they're not definate. Take them with a healthy dose of skeptisism (SP?).

-MystWalker

I don't know how accurate this is but some of it seems to make sense. Too bad Faith won't be back on Buffy though. I miss that girl and I wanna her and Buffy to make up!

Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:

This week we have casting news and location shoot reports!

First, James Marsters confirmed that he had filmed a scene described to me by Hercules for my July 30 column:

"God knows if they'll film it, but there's a really cool scene in the script where Spike acquires a motorcycle from a speeding demon who tries to run Spike over."

Wanda adds the usual vague promises regarding the premiere and the potential of a Buffy/Spike relationship. She is not currently reliable, but it's nice to read someone talking about a slow buildup between these characters.

In casting news, jengod from Buffy News Wire reports that Warren (creator of the BuffyBot) has been signed to a multi-episode contract, and AutumnT reports that BtVS is casting a "nerdy but cute" male named Tucker to appear in Episode 4. Since Herc reported that there would be a troika of twenty-somethings that would first appear in Episode 4, it seems reasonable to believe that Warren and Tucker will be the other two members of the troika (along with the previously mentioned Jonathan).

There is some speculation that Tucker will be a potential love interest for, well, just about every female character on the show. The "nerdy but cute" tag seems to earmark him as love interest material.

On to location shoot news: BBOvenGuy (aka Bob) from the Kitten Board, along with Shanie from the Kitten Board, went to Griffith Park last week to check out the location shooting. He confirmed that there are demon bikers, and he noted that Alyson Hannigan, Amber Benson, and Nick Brendan were present, and SMG wasn't. One Good Day member Cat has a different story; according to her friend, all cast members except Dawn were there. In fact, Bob's and Cat's accounts differ in another way: they report Alyson and Amber as wearing different clothing. Bob has been a location shooting correspondent for the Kitten Board since last year, at least, and I have no reason to think his account isn't true. Perhaps there is some other reason for the discrepancies.

The Comic Book Guy who as chatty with Faithful list member Mystwalker repeats much of the info we already know. New items:

Suicidal Buffy
Clueless Angel
Chipless Spike
I'm skeptical that after the angst of S5, ME would treat us to Suicidal Buffy all season. Clueless Angel may be necessary for logistical reasons, but it still seems unlikely (and is not consistent with Hercules' spoilers). And Jane E already denied the rumors that Spike's chip was already out and he didn't know it.

Lastly, I'd like to speculate on the "nomenclature" issue. This is probably way out there, but I found out the following:

I ran "nomenclature" and "Osiris" through Google and found reference to Thoth: "With the assistance of Thoth, who invented science, nomenclature, and the arts, Osiris ruled as the benevolent and kind king of Egypt." http://ablemedia.com/ctcweb/consortium/ancientegyptiangodsthoth.html

"Thoth is the wise god who was often depicted holding scrolls and a pen with which he recorded all things. He was depicted as a man with the head of an ibis or baboon, though some times he was the dog-headed ape. He was most often depicted as a dog-headed ape when attending the judgment of a soul."

This got me remembering some of Steve DeKnight's posts on the old Bronze:

http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~hsiao/media/tv/buffy/bronze/20010615.html

"Rikki: We've already starting writing for season 6. Yeah, I'd love to do something lighter than Blood Ties or Spiral, or something really, really creepy. Like a gorilla with a dog's brain." This particular day's set of posts is riddled with his "gorilla with a dog's brain" comments.

Coincidence?
