In the Oct. 2 "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" season premiere, Spike, in a highly dramatic and entertaining fashion, will impulsively acquire a motorcycle from a demon biker who has just invaded a slayerless Sunnydale with his gang. It’s now clear that Spike will come to like the bike enough to use it throughout season six as his new regular mode of transport.

Spike’s Other New Ride

When Coax revealed back on July 4 that Spike and Buffy would become more than friends by Thanksgiving, some claiming to be insiders insisted the pair would kiss only twice this season. We now understandthat Spike and Buffy will kiss more than twice, and — to the rest of the Scooby Gang’s horror — go way way way beyond tongue wrestling.

Absolutely no pictures to share however, "closed set" were the 2 words of the day although I did find out a few items of interest. Saw the "little bad" film a few of their scenes, Jonathan, Warren, and the other guy (the one who's going to be the main evil one). Jane Espenson wrote the episode I was watching them film, and that comes from Danny himself. Happened to have my trading cards with me and got Danny to sign the "strange sightings" card with him in his bathin suit. He asked me my favorite episode and he said, "Superstar... why thank you!" That's when I asked him if Jane wrote him some good stuff again this season and he said she wrote this ep we are working on right now. Told him I love Jane's work, etc.

I took the Osborne street exit off the 210 Freeway and immediately saw the familiar yellow and black "V" sign pointing the way I had gone when I scouted the site on Saturday. When I got to the intersection of Foothill and Osborne, though, the "V" signs were pointing down Osborne instead of along Foothill as I'd expected them to. Curious, I followed the signs into the Hansen Dam recreational area, where they ended in an empty parking lot with a Security Guard sitting here guarding nothing. What the heck was going on? I never did figure that one out. Perhaps that had been their base camp, or perhaps they had filmed a scene or two earlier. We may never know.

I wasn't going to pack it in yet, though. I turned my car back onto Foothill and went to the construction site I had seen on Saturday. Sure enough, there they were! Trucks and equipment and crewmembers were everywhere, focusing in on a spot right at the curb along Foothill Boulevard. I parked my car and went to go look. By coincidence, I ended up standing next to and talking with the same Security Guard I had seen at Griffith Park. I don't think he recognized me, though.

As I watched, the crew was busy with a black van that was parked at the curb. Inside, Danny Strong (aka Jonathan) was at the wheel, while Adam Busch (aka Warren) was in the passenger seat. There was a third guy, with scruffy blonde hair and a green t-shirt, who kept climbing into the van with them, but I couldn't tell whether he was supposed to be the rumored third member of their troupe or he was just a member of the tech crew trying to fix something.

The scene they were shooting involved Warren looking through these comically large binoculars out from the van into the construction site. The Security Guard told me they had been shooting in the construction site earlier.

Later on a couple of other fans showed up. They had been watching the filming in the construction site, and they described one of the scenes to me - Xander and Buffy were talking to someone, presumably a supervisor. After they did that, Xander went into the building for a moment while Buffy went the other direction. Buffy then came back into the shot carrying a huge beam all by herself.

Anyway, back to the scene at hand - they wouldn't let us get close enough to hear any dialogue, and as the sun moved they kept moving more lights, reflectors and filters into place to keep the van lit properly. At one point Danny Strong got out for a break and went running back down into the construction site (where the trailers were), holding his hands up in the air as he ran, kind of like a little kid. Eventually the equpiment blocked our view completely and so I called it a day.

A word to those who were thinking of going out tomorrow - at the site they were saying they had gotten all the shots they wanted today, and so tomorrow's shoot was cancelled. There were rumblings about a shoot in Torrance on Friday, but nothing was confirmed and since we still haven't found a Torrance shooting schedule online there's no way to know for sure. If I get far enough ahead on my writing I may go down there anyway.

All in all, not the greatest of shoots, but we did see something. And now we know for certain that the rumored Jonathan-Warren alliance is true.
