Now Shooting: Episode 22

Attention!

This coming Monday is April Fool's Day. It's a time of year when people like to play tricks, especially online. Therefore, do not be surprised if lots of new spoilers are posted by anonymous sources on various boards on Monday. Also, I will be out of town on a job-related trip Sunday night until Monday night. I will not be available to update or post in any of my usual posting places. Do not assume my silence means anything other than that I am travelling and/or working on something that has nothing to do with Buffy or Spike.

Re: Whether Anya knows about B/S when she and Spike hook up...
Anya finds out after her thing with Spike, at the same time as Xander.

Is Tara shot with a regular gun and where does it take place?
Yes, Tara is shot with a regular gun. She is inside Willow's bedroom when it happens.

In response to comments about Anya granting wishes...
I have no idea where the Anya granting Warren's wish thing comes from. Certainly wasn't from me. As far as my info is concerned, Anya does absolutely no wish granting in 18-20. She returns to Sunnydale a demon again and doesn't waste too much time in seeking her own vengeance. There's an abundance of opportunity and attempts in 18, but no wish granting and most certainly, no involvement of Warren or any of the Troika with Anya. There's a *very* minor possiblity that it happens in 19, but it really makes no sense with the rest of the events. Warren tries to get his vengeance on his own and seeks methods other than a vengeance demon to *try* and save himself when his plans don't go right.

Re: BBOvenGuy's location shoot report...Willow's new darker look...
The Black hair and eyes and stuff is a visual representation of her consumption of magic. When she sucks it all in, literally, the words of the books come off the pages and soak into her skin, dying her eyes and hair pitch black for that special "bad" look.

Clarification on the wording of the Spike/Africa spoiler...specifically, the "demon" element...
I did *not* put the exact quote from the episode in the spoilers. I wouldn't have done that, especially not without quote marks and there were no quote marks. It was my wording and my wording only. As I said in the spoiler's explaination, I don't know what Spike's intentions were or what he was really specifically asking for or whether he even gets it...that was the reason for editing the spoiler's wording. Not trying to stop anyone from speculating, just trying to make sure it's clear the wording of the spoiler isn't pointing at some hidden story or something.
As to the "demon" portion of "...the demon he was before the chip," it was just a word. The point was clearing up any potential for confusion, but apparently I suck at that. I was *trying* not to use Spike's name over and over again or include confusing pronouns in the spoiler involving Spike and another demon. Spike's a vampire, therefore demon. Chip, no chip, evil, good, doesn't matter...still demon. Doesn't mean anything.

When Spike returns from Africa without his chip Buffy is forced into making a heart wrenching decision.

Other then the Buffy/Spike spoilers I don’t have much info about Willow in episode 21 and 22. What I did find was that they are spending a fortune on those two episodes. Presumably, much of it will be spent on special effects. Meaning that it is fairly safe to say that Willow will be conjuring up some powerful magic in those two episodes. I will have some real information pertaining to Willow and hopefully more info on Buffy and Spike to share in about a week.

Let's start with the episode that really riled up the fans: Did Buffy's trip to the mental hospital mean the entire show is just a hallucination?

Noxon: We never meant for it to be a statement of the show. If so, it would have been the very last episode of Buffy. We just wanted to have a little fun and say: "Could it have all been her hallucination?" It was a brain teaser. We believe in the world of Buffy. Wholeheartedly.

We didn't want to invalidate her whole journey. It was just kind of a what-if, not a thesis statement, and we're not going to have asylum shows from now on.

Will the show lighten up?

Because of Buffy's mom dying and her dying, this season was darker, since she had to fight back from that. She'll always have travails, but we are looking to bring her back into a heroic stance. We're going to throw Buffy a bone or two. And I think, ultimately, people will be happy with the balance. There's so much cool stuff about to happen--in a way people are not expecting.

Fans have been pretty vocal in their criticism of this season. Does it have an effect?

We do listen, but we wouldn't let fan opinion change us dramatically. Sometimes, the fans are going "no, no, no!" and we know we are heading somewhere they will like.

What about the folks who still want Buffy and Angel together?

They call themselves the shippers. These are the people who still have their high school sweetheart's picture in a frame on the wall. They can't seem to let things go. I think Buffy and Angel's relationship was idealized. It was like a fairy tale, in the way young girls dream about--to have this perfect, unattainable man.

But you have to throw curve balls. We gave Buffy and Angel a barrier they couldn't surmount. This locks it into a romantic ideal, because they never fought over who has to do the laundry. They were stuck in the first beautifully passionate stage of love, and that's where it will be forever.

Some of the fans want Buffy and Spike together. Does that surprise you?

Sometimes, things don't go the way we intend. It seemed very obvious to us that the Buffy-Spike relationship couldn't work in the long run, so now we need to reiterate why. We need to get in there and show people the difference between loving someone who is good to be around and loving someone who is good.

I think people have forgotten the Spike of two seasons ago. I mean, he tried to kill Willow! Can you really see Spike and Buffy in a condo deciding what they should watch on TV that night? That's not our thesis. What we want to show is an independent heroine who is not defined by her relationships.

How much is Joss Whedon involved in the show now?

Very. He works out the storylines, but we do have a little more freedom with the production. Right now, he's working on Firefly and the BBC show--plus Buffy and Angel. So, Joss is very busy, and he loves it. He's like a pig in poo.

Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:

There is not much new this week. There's a major crackdown on spoiler leaks at ME as the filming of the finale gets underway.

I am predisposed to consider Mr. Video's info credible. He has a source via UPN, and it is about time for UPN to be notifying their affiliates of sweeps programming. I'm not thrilled we have to wait another week for a new episode, but I'm sure my husband and daughter appreciate that I have one extra Tuesday night free.

I am also predisposed to give Caesar some credibility based on some of his information about where he obtains his spoilers. He bears watching. I'd also love to chat with him, but he doesn't answer his email.

What can be said about Marti's interview with Wanda? I do think she could be lying. Last summer, Joss said to trust the tale, not the teller. Also, we have to keep in mind that Marti has lied in the past about story-related issues. I'm sorry if her lying is motivated by the desire to keep spoiler whores on our toes. I'm disappointed if she considers this some kind of war. I don't want her to change the story she is telling; I just want to know about it in advance so I can prepare. I'm still surprised the first time I hear about a major plot development. I don't know why the writers want to begrudge those of us who need to be prepared about bad things happening to characters we care about.

Spoiler season will be winding down soon. Can you believe we've been doing this for 10 months?
