Latest Rumors:

Posted by David Fury on the Bronze Beta on 4-29-02

ErinSpud -- Thanks. AAMOF, I'll be a Consulting Producer on Angel next year, in addition to my BUFFY duties, so I expect to write two or three eps next year.

Posted by Wanda on E!Online on 4-22-02

joymoose asks: Wanda.... here's a song for you ..... Buffy buffy, ya
ya ya, Buffy buffy, cha cha cha... ya... give us buffy!
Wanda replies: Here's a song for you: David and Wanda sitting in a
tree ... Just kidding. Okay, here's the haps: Spoke to Joss Whedon
today, and as usual, he was pretty tight-lipped on spoilage. But, he
did mention that Giles would be back very soon -- before the endof
the season. And, Also, this should appease some of you who've been a
little cranky with the darker bent this season: Joss described next
year's theme as "Back to the Beginning." We'll be returning to the
badass bambina we so adore.

(selected excerpts from Wanda's interview with Joss Whedon)

This season has been fantastic, as usual, but it has had a darker tone. To be honest, some of the episodes depressed the hell out of me. This is where we wanted to go...into the dark of the woods. But next year is going to be very different. We're going back to our original mission statement. Back to the positive view of the joy of female empowerment. This year was about adult life and relationships--and making really, really bad decisions. Next year will still be scary and different and strange, but it will be more of a positive outlook. People will stop abandoning Dawn. Willow won't be a junky anymore. Buffy won't be dead.

Your theme for this year was: "Oh, Grow Up." Do you have one for next
year?
Yes. It's: "Buffy Year One." It's let's get back to the joy of this very simple concept, that this silly woman no one takes seriously is actually the most powerful woman in the world.

How long do you see Buffy lasting? How far have you planned ahead?
We basically plot every year as a natural ending point of the show. I loathe stories that end in the middle, so we wrap it up at the end of the year. Every year. So, next season, we've figured out the whole arc--who the bad guy is, what the general message is. Next year will be the end. And if there's another season, that will be the end, too.

Now, today was the Entertainment Value conference, which meant free dinner and Jane Espenson talk....so here we go with the high-lights and the info (very very vague maybe S7 spoilers):

* SPOILER! They're already planning S7's arc right now: they think the theme is going to be "you never leave high school--it's still hell."
* SPOILER! There will be a change of venue for some of the characters. And exactly TWO scenes filmed in England. This was all the budget they had for that.* semi-spoiler: they are writing this as if it's the last year. Believe that if you want.

jennifromphoenix asks: The only thing that would make
me grab a box of kleenex for the finale of Buffy is if
the scooby member who dies is Willow. Please tell me
it is not so? Your Greatest Fan! :O)
Wanda replies: You just saved yourself $1.49. The Big
Scooby Death is not Willow, and it actually happens
this week.

lynnwallkill asks: Submitted Question: [Wanda] asked
by Lynn from Wallkill, NY What's up with Buffy &
Spike? Does Buffy have real feelings for him? I love
them together!
Wanda replies: HE certainly has real feelings for HER
... I'm hearing that in the finale, we'll find out
that not only does Spike want the chip removed, he
also wants a certain something that'd turn him into
an Angel knockoff. I'll give you a hint: It sounds
Korean.

michelle_hair asks: Bush's War? Terrorist Tara-is-it.
Wanda replies: Ah, yes. Last week's clue to the Big
Scooby Death. Your mama didn't raise no fool, now did
she? You went the extra mile - I was simply referring
to the way he says "Terror."

laof420 asks: I just have to say if the Buffy thing is
false you are just so so cruel
Wanda replies: (Gulp.) Please, forgive me. But it is a
teensy bit close to the truth --- After Willow turns
to the dark side, an old friend DOES return to help
save her. Giles. He and Anya work together
to help drain Big Bad Willow of her thirst for blood.

jimdaniels asks: Can Xander and Anya PLEASE end up
together - PLEASE PLEASE
Wanda replies: I can only tell you this: In the
finale, Anya will confess to Xander that she's once
again a demon.

A little Buffy/Willow dialogue…

Willow: And it is the last, you know...For all your fighting...thinking you're saving the world....
Buffy listens as Dawn stares at her
Dawn: Buf-
Buffy holds up a hand to silence her
Willow (os)--and in the end, I'm the only one that can save it
Buffy--by killing us?????

And later…

Willow: You won't go out without a fight and I really don't have time for one. But you should go out fighting...It was me that took you out of the Earth, well now, the earth wants you back!
Some lines from Anya, in reference to the demoness Willow summons…
Anya: Way up there in the hierarchy of she-demons. Her followers intended to use her effigy to destroy the world. They all died when the temple got swallowed up in the earthquake of '32

And later…

Anya: She's[Willow] going to drain the planet's life force, funnel its energy through Proserpexa's[sp?] effigy and burn the earth to a cinder.
Dawn, presumably trying to talk Buffy out of fighting Willow…
Dawn: You heard what Anya said, what Giles said
Buffy: I heard....and I don't care...I have to try!

I have to stress that this should only be considered speculation until some kind of confirmation arrives. It's entirely possible that this is false spoilage, but since it is being batted around on the boards, I felt obligated to at least mention that I've heard this echoed elsewhere.

"Hey again, got some news for you on the end of the season.
Harmony will be part of Spike's trial, she could be seen as a so-called 'Spirit Guide' in his quest. "Annoyance Is Your Gift"
The final scene of the season is all about Spike and takes place after the Sunnydale storyline is wrapped. Spike is going to go through a change, but it isn't getting his chip out or getting a soul, not in the Angel sense that is. The final scene will be Spike walking out of the cave and into the bright midday African sun - FTB. It's supposed to be just like the final scene with Buffy and Dawn."

From tls20017: Any Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed news? Not too spoilish...
Okay, how about some scoop on where they're headed? Charmed is moving to Sunday nights before Angel. As for Buffy, some of you may have heard that Nicholas Brendon told reporters in Sydney that Buffy will end after next year. Nothing is definite yet, but a source tells me it's looking pretty grim for season eight.

From teriberi: Angel is moving to the same time slot as Alias! Is the WB nuts? How could they do that?
It gets worse, honeychild: Joss Whedon's new show, Firefly, is a shoo-in for the same spot. Stop the insanity!

From cherylabernathy: Could you set up an interview with Joss Whedon in which the fans get to ask the questions? Please?
Absolutely. I'll try to get him here over the hiatus when he's got a little downtime.

From Pierrette: So, your hint from last week on Buffy's finale: Is the Korean word for the clue on Spike soul?
Yep. Give or take an e (Seoul). This Buffy tidbit comes straight from the inner circle--so take it with a heaping grain of salt. (We all know how sneaky Joss can be.) Supposedly, Spike not only wants his chip removed, he ultimately wants to get a soul. Also, Giles and Anya team up to suck the evil out of Willow, Anya confesses to Xander that she's a demon again and Warren visits Rick, who warns him he's not in danger from Buffy but from Big Bad Willow.

Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:

Once again, I apologize for the delay in updating. Real life is crazy here. Plus I'm still pregnant, and still tired all the time.

We are starting to see strong indications that Spike will somehow be transformed in Season 7. Tensai's information suggests Spike will become a human. Wanda's information is that Spike will become ensouled. Perhaps both are correct. Perhaps neither. Still, I tend to believe Tensai's spoiler--more so than he does, I think!

Jennyo's information from Jane Espenson backs up Tensai's information about a location shoot in London, which is intriguing. Which characters would be in London? Certainly Giles and very likely Buffy, but the others are not yet known.

Another intriguing item I'd like to point out is the shooting script for Seeing Red, as posted on Psyche's site: http://www.studiesinwords.de/shooting/seeingred1.html. Note the date on the script: April 3. That episode began shooting on February 22. I have a source with a copy of that script, dated Feb. 22, and the Spike/Clem scene is missing. I have heard of a rumor on MBTV/TWOP, a site I avoid because of my issues with the people who run it, that the Spike/Clem scene from Shooting Red was filmed later, added in after the primary filming of episode 19 was completed. This script info seems to confirm that rumor.

I'm not sure when I'll update again. There is very little spoilage these days. The writers are on vacation, and the season is over in a week. If I get hold of a summary of a media review copy of the final two episodes, which Reddygirl has been able to obtain in the past, I will post and update ASAP.
