The sound of Buffy's foot colliding with flesh echoed through the cemetery. "C'mon Giles. It's not like I don't know how to drive!" Buffy reasoned pleadingly through grunts while she knocked the crap out of a newly risen vampire.
"Buffy...," Giles was staring at Buffy who now had her hands on her hips. But she was paying more attention to Giles than the vampire sneaking up on her. "LOOK OUT!" He screamed. But no faster had he screamed, Buffy had brought the stake up and staked the vampire behind her without even the slightest glance. The stake was true to it's aim. The vampire blewup into dust. "I really wish you would pay more attention to your slaying then pursuing a helpless cause." Giles stated helplessly in his formal English tone. "God, I've been back in Sunnydale for less than a week and you're already making demands of me!" He said in a joking tone.
"First of all, I was paying attention. Second of all you've been back for a whopping 10 days. And third of all... I wanna I wanna I wanna!" Buffy finished her sentence with a whine.
"I'm sorry. I just cannot permit that! You have failed you drivers test three times! I cannot just hand over my car, a new car might I add, so you can go parading all around a city." He said giving Buffy the I-said-no- and-mean-it glance.
"Ok. So I failed three times! But seriously, it wasn't my fault. Did I have time to study for those tests? No. I was too busy saving the world. And it is so not a new car. You have had it for over a year. And I won't be parading around a city. I will be responsibly driving to LA to talk to Angel. There will be not pit stops at an inner city, gang ridden, demon ran gas station. Just a straight line of driving from Sunnydale to LA, and back. I promise. Why don't you trust me?... I know! You can test me! Let's see how can you test me... Ohhhh you can make me jump through a portal to save the world, not to mention my family and friends, and then you can see how trust worthy I am. No wait.... I can't to that. It's already been done." Buffy stated sarcastically.
"All right. I guess you do have a point. I am being over protective of you. Well and my car. But... I do indeed trust you. You have proven to me time and time again you are trust worthy" Giles sighed. "Here are the keys. If you can drive us to my home without killing us both, you have my permission to take it to LA." Giles said as he tossed Buffy the keys.
"What if only one of us dies? Do I still have permission?" Buffy joked.

"Asshole!" Buffy screamed at the top of her lungs as the palm of her hand met with the horn of her car. *I can't believe that old lady just passed me again!* The trip to LA had taken what had seemed eternities for Buffy. *Maybe listening to the radio will keep me calm.* She leaned over to turn on the radio. Classical music blasted through the speakers. "Hell no." She screamed as she quickly turned the dial. Blink 182 erupted through the speakers. "Oh yeah! Much better." She sighed as she sat back up and let her ears bathe in the music. Her hair in the wind and sun beating down on her, she started singing alone to the song. She let her fears of seeing Angel again flow out of her and into the wind.

It was starting to get dark out when Buffy arrived at Angel Investigations. The sun was just a diminutive slit off in the distance when she pulled up. Buffy took a deep breath as she got out of the car. This is what she had tried effortlessly to put out of her mind all day. But now she was being forced to live this moment now. She was scared and yet excited too. She closed her eyes tightly and strode through the elaborate glass doors that lead to the main lobby of Angel Investigations. "Oh, dear." Came a wonderfully familiar English voice. Buffy quickly popped her eyes open. It had been Wesley. "We thought you were.. aren't you supposed to be... didn't you..." stuttered the shrewd Englishman.
"I think what he's trying to say was, aren't you dead? Well obviously not. Or you wouldn't be here. Or would you? Oh my God you're a zombie aren't you? Or even worse a vampire? Oh God! Wesley toss me the stake!" Cordelia ordered. Wesley tossed the cross over to her as Buffy put up a feeble hand in protest.
"No no no no. It's so not what you think! Don't do anything drastic let me ex-" Buffy was cut off by the holy water that showered her entire body. "Explain." Buffy finished lamely as she wiped the water off of her face with her dry hand.
"Oh God. We are so sorry. We didn't know." Wesley uttered apologetically as he pulled a hankey out of his pocket and handed it to her.
"Well if you had given me a minute, and didn't jump to any, I don't know... rash, conclusions, you wouldn't have to be apologizing right now." She explained as she wiped her face of the holy water.
"Well you don't have to be all bitchy about it." Cordelia sneered.
"Bitchy. I walk in a door and get an unexpected bath. Cordelia, believe me, you would be a tad bitchy too." She said sarcastically.
"Hey guys what's happen-.. Ummm aren't you dead? Wait if you were dead you wouldn't be standing here. Or would you. Oh my God you're a-" Stated a tall man with a deep voice who Buffy had never seen before.
"I'm not any form of an evil plague. If you don't believe that's your own fault. But I am so going to personally kick your ass if I get another bath!" Buffy said defensively as she got into her fighting stance.
"Oh. I'm not going to do anything." he stated lamely.
"Look. I have no idea who the hell you are." She said letting down her guard.
"Well, everyone calls me Gunn. I work with Cordelia, Wes, and Angel. And judging by how hot and strong you look, I'm guessing you're Buffy. The Vampire Slayer." Gunn said matter-of-factly.
"Ohhh. Ummm thanks. I think." Buffy replied.
"Hey what do you say to some nice dry clothes?" Cordelia asked.
"Well I would love some but I didn't plan on staying long so I didn't bring any." Buffy said sadly.
"Well, we're about the same size. Well, not really but that's ok. You can borrow some of my dry clothes." Cordelia offered. "You can stay here with Wes, Gunn and Fred while I run to my apartment and get you some clothes." Cordelia shouted as she rushed out the door.
"Fred?" Buffy looked at Wesley quizzically for an answer. But it wasn't Wesley who answered her question. It was a voice from behind the front desk in a corner, where each shadow overlapped one another.
"I'm Fred." Came a voice from a meek looking petite brunette. "I am also a friend of Angel's." She said as she extended her had out to Buffy. Buffy took it and shook it.
"Nice to meet you. Ummm... sorry if I'm being way too Miss. Get To The Point, but where's Angel? I've got to give him this letter. But I guess it'll be easier to have one of you guys give it to him." Buffy asked slowly as if the words she spoke were daggers. As she asked this Wesley and Gunn visibly flinched. Even as she opened her bag and got the letter she could feel the tension the question had brought.
"Well, every night since you died, he has gone out early and come back right before dawn. He hasn't said a word to any of us. He just comes and goes." Fred stated weakly.
"Yeah. And when he isn't so busy coming and going, he's locked up in his room brooding all day. And he won't come out." Gunn said pissily.
"Buffy, I think it would be for the best if you stayed here for a while. At least until Angel comes back. That way maybe you'll knock him out of his trance." Wesley asked more then anything else.
"Well if things are as bad as what you say they are, then.. yeah I'll have to stay. But where?" Buffy asked half-heartedly because all that was running through her mind now was Angel.
"I'll call Cordelia. She should be home getting your clothes right now. You can stay with her." As he said this Gunn picked up the phone. "We'll bring you there now and when Angel comes in later, we'll have him go up to Cordellia's to see you." Wesley looked at Gunn for the affirmation. Gunn nodded as he continued to talk to who seemed to be Cordelia.
"There's one more thing. Aren't you guys the least bit curious to how I'm alive right now?" Buffy asked.
"Oh. How on bloody earth did we forget that one?" Wesley asked. " Well you can tell us on the ride to Cordelia's." He said as he picked up the car keys and nodded to Gunn and Fred that he was leaving.

"Whoa! Cordy, you live here?" Buffy stated genuinely shocked, as she came out from changing in the bathroom.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Cordelia laughed.
"Nothing it's just... well it looks like Bill Gates would have a hard time paying for this." Buffy laughed.
"Ummmm.. thanks I think." Cordy laughed
"Well now that you two are settled I'm going to go back the office to do some more research." Wesley said as he headed for the door.
"Well, you can have the bed since you're the guest and all." Cordy offered. Buffy was shocked by how much Cordelia chase had changed since high School. It was like she had become a different person. What would the Scooby Gang say if they heard Cordelia Chase offered Buffy her bed?
"Well, Cordy, that's really, really, nice of you, but if you don't mind I'll just take the couch." Buffy said as she sat down on it.
"Are you sure?" Cordy asked with genuine concern.
"Yeah. Thanks though." Buffy smiled at this. "What do you do around here for fun?" She asked looking for something to do.
"Well besides talk to Denis, I watch movies and TV." Cordy stated happily.
"Umm.. and Denise would be?.." Buffy trailed off.
"Ohh it's a long story. But basically he's a really nice ghost who haunts the apartment." She stated like it wasn't a big deal.
"Oh. Well we so need to talk. We have so much catching up to do." Buffy sighed as she tapped a space on the couch next to her. So they spent the remainder of the night reminiscing.

"Hey, Cord, do you mind if I take a shower?" Buffy asked.
"Sure the towels are in the closet in the bathroom top shelf." Cordy stated not taking her eyes off of the television screen. Buffy got up and shuffled towards the bathroom quickly glancing at the clock in the kitchen on the way. * 2: 26 am! If Angel doesn't hurry up, I won't be able to talk to him tonight. Buffy thought to herself as she turned the shower on and hopped in. The warm water felt soothing and invigorating at the same time. Buffy started to hum.

There was a knock at Cordy's door. "Who is it?" She shouted from the couch.
"Who do you think it would be at 2:30 in the morning Cordelia?!" Shouted the deep hypnotizing voice.
"Coming. Just hold on." As Cordy opened the door, the tall, dark, and handsome man she knew all too well brushed by her. Followed by Gunn, and Wesley. Cordelia grabbed Gunn by the arm as he walked by and kissed him quickly. When they finally pulled away, Cordilla spoke. "Where's Fred?"
"She's asleep at the office." Gunn stated as he went in for another kiss. But they were quickly interrupted by Angel.
"Where is she? I thought you said she was alive and here with Cordy? Where is she? Is she ok?" He looked at Cordy, panic shining in his eyes.
"Breathe Loverboy. She's in the bathroom taking a shower. Or rather just stop panicking seeing how you can't-" But before Cordy could finish Angel was out of sight.

There was a light rapping at the door. "Yep it's cool. You can come in Cordy." Buffy spoke loudly through the curtain. The door swung open and closed lightly.
"It's not Cordy." Said the familiar voice of her one and only Angel. *My guardian Angel .* Buffy thought as she turned off the water. She reached out for the towel as she carefully kept her bed and face hidden by the curtain. But Angel had reached out and grabbed the towel to place in her hand.
"Thanks." Buffy replied as she took the towel and wrapped it around herself behind the curtain. Once she had done this, she pulled back the shower curtain, to see Angel staring at her with interest. He grabbed her arm while she got out for balance. Then he pulled her close to him in a passionate and needy kiss. Their kiss was filled with a deep longing. It was Buffy who pulled away.
"It's true, you are alive." Angel said as he pulled in for another kiss. But then something happened. He fell to the bathroom floor doubling over in pain. He looked up at Buffy with glowing white eyes. He let out a moan of pain. Buffy dropped to her knees on the floor and held him. Tears fell down his face as the contented to moan in pain. Then as soon as it had started it had ceased. Angel stopped crying out in pain and the tears that were once streaming down his face stopped too.
"What's wrong Angel?" Buffy asked filled with concern as she looked into his eyes. But his eyes were missing something. *Oh God no!*
"Nothing." Angel stated as he pulled her down further for a kiss. But this kiss was different. It was filled with desire and *Hate? * But Buffy couldn't pull away.
