DISCLAIMER: None of the people you recgonize are mine.Though if some of
them want me to own them, I probably wouldn't say no.
FEEDBACK: Redundant question. Of course I do.
SUMMARY: A short little story taking place in my bliss series (others
found at ). Buffy and
Cordelia are casting for the movie.
DISTRIBUTION: Want, take, have. As long as you ask first.
NOTE: In Soulmate, Buffy and Angel's characters are Janna and David.
Willow and Oz are Hannah and Jason, Xander and Cordelia are Sean and
Charisma, Giles is Ethan James, and Doyle, Anya, and Joyce, and Faith
have bit parts, so they won't be mentioned in the casting.
"Ms. Chase, table for two?" asked the maitre 'd of the casual chic café across the street from the DreamWorks Studio offices.
Cordy and Buffy nodded, then followed the man to the corner table by the windows. They both ordered bottled water and kobb salads, dressing on the side of course before getting into an in depth conversation.
"I didn't think casting would be such a challenge."
Cordy grinned at her friend. "It's not the casting that is so much the problem, it's the fact that we lived this life, and we're trying to match the actors to the real live people. I think we've done all right so far."
Buffy agreed, playing with one of the breadsticks from the basket on the table. "Janna's part was the easiest."
"Darn tootin," smiled Cordelia, who at Buffy's insistence had taken the part. "And Natalie Portman and Elijah Wood have already signed on as Hannah and Jason. Michael Caine is reviewing the contract as we speak for the part as Ethan."
"Didn't you mention something about asking Ben to review the script?"
"I had it delivered this morning. He'll get back to us in a few days."
Buffy was quiet as the waiter brought their food and as soon as he left, she spoke again. "So provided Ben likes it, we'll have him read with you to see if he fits the part of David. All we need then is a Sean and Charisma, and the other small parts."
"We have the readings for them later remember," added Cordelia. "The casting agent we have is one of the best. Most of the people will be relative unknowns, but everyone starts out like that. And I heard that Joshua Jackson had been called in to do a reading for Sean. We still have a week until the movie starts production."
Buffy nodded, knowing that her long time friend was right, and knowing that she would see less of Angel with being on the set more often. "Does this seem fast to you? Its almost unreal. Mr. White only came up to me about a month ago."
Cordelia shrugged, swallowing a sip of water. "But didn't you say that he had approached your editor weeks before hand? Its not that inconcievable; and anyway, the studio seems to really have a lot of faith in this picture. Plus its luck, none of the actors are tied up in other projects. Enjoy it." The dark haired actress suddenly got a wicked grin, and leaned closer across the table. "So. Dish. What's going on with Angel? How is he taking this whole movie thing?"
"Extremely well. He's being so supportive about the entire deal. He's very proud of what's been happening."
"That's a given. Angel worships you." Cordelia lowered her voice a bit. "I'm talking about how he feels about having his life going to be up on the silver screen."
"It isn't his life, Cordy. It's just a romance that I wrote."
"That is based heavily on your own tortured romance."
"I wouldn't be allowing this to happen without his support, Cordy. We're not hiding anything from each other again."
Cordelia changed the subject then, and Buffy went with it flawlessly, years of knowing Cordy Chase tempering her to it. "Doyle mentioned that Angel had said something about you two trying to have kids?"
Buffy's smile dimmed slightly as she nodded. "We're not pressuring ourselves for it, but we both want one. But meanwhile, the practicing is pretty damn good."
Cordelia laughed. "It'll happen. Give it time. You both are pretty busy now a days aren't you anyway?"
"Yea, between the movie getting going and him helping Mom at the gallery and doing some of his own work, it's been pretty hectic."
"I saw that oil he did of you sitting on the swing on your porch. It was beautiful. Did it take him long?"
"I don't know actually. He did it from memory. I never posed for it."
"D-aamn." Cordelia stretched the word out, her mouth forming a surprised 'O'. "I knew he was good, but he did that from memory?"
Buffy beamed with pride for her husband. "Most of his stuff is. I keep telling him that he should sell some of it, instead of just displaying them at the gallery, but he's happy doing it his way." She paused. "Are you and Doyle planning on kids?"
"Of course. I don't know how good of a mother I'll be, but I'll be better than my mom was. And Doyle is great with kids. We're just letting it come as it may; we're not even thirty yet."
"You'll be a good mom, Cordy, I know you will." Buffy took the final sip of her water, looking at her watch. "We should probably head back. The auditions start soon, and I want to call Angel before hand."
I know, short..I was going to do a scene from the movie, but I couldn't figure anything out.
