THE APARTMENT (3 MONTHS AFTER KEEPING SECRETS)

Angel laid in bed and watched his wife sleep, he was amazed by all the changes taking place with Buffy's body because of her pregnancy. Angel gently placed his hand over Buffy's swollen abdomen hoping to feel the baby kick, unfortunately this caused Buffy to stir.

"Good morning" she whispered.

"Morning" he replied, replacing his hand with his head.

"Aren't you tired of doing that, yet?" she asked, unable to move.

"Nope" Angel said, truthfully. He actually couldn't imagine anything better than hearing the heartbeat and feeling the movement of their child within her.

The phone rang cutting off Buffy's reply, she reached over and picked up the phone. "Hello?" she said.

"Buffy?"

"Hey Giles. Why are you calling so late?" Buffy asked.

"Well I thought you might want to know about the newest member of the Scooby gang" Giles replied.

"Anya had the baby?"

"Yes".

"Well..." Buffy demanded.

"Alexander Rupert Harris, arrived 15 minutes ago, weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces" Giles said proudly.

"That's great. Tell Xan and Anya, congratulations from Angel and me".

"I will. I have to go, so we'll see you soon".

"Bye Giles".

"Bye Buffy".

Buffy put the phone down and found that Angel was staring at her. "What?" she asked.

"Boy or girl?"

"Sorry. They had a boy, Alexander Rupert".

"Poor kid" Angel said.

"Why?"

"Because his role models are a moron and a ex-demon who still believes in and wants to eviscerate men" Angel replied, logically.

"I agree about the Anya part, but Xan isn't a moron" Buffy told him.

"Then why is it everytime I see him he acts like one" Angel asked, still convinced that Xander was an idiotic moron.

"Well sweetie, he never really liked you" Buffy said, soothingly.

"The feeling is totally mutual" he mumbled, then he asked her, "Want to go to Sunnydale to see the kid?"

"Totally" Buffy replied.

"Ok, we'll give them a few days to settle down and we'll go".

"Thankyou" Buffy said, giving Angel a quick kiss.

Angel began to deepen the kiss when Cordy walked in. "My God, even with Buffy in her condition, you two still..."

"Cordy, if you value both your job and our friendship, you'll shut up" Angel threatened.

"Ok, ok. I just came on down to check whether you were coming to work anytime soon" Cordy replied.

"Yeah, Buffy and I will be up soon" Angel told her, feeling uncomfortable that Cordy was in the bedroom and he was wearing only a sheet.

"Well hurry up, before I have to kill Doyle and Wes" Cordy said, getting ready to leave. After all there was only so much fun in making your boss feel uncomfortable.

"What are they up to now?" Angel asked, totally uninterested.

"They're arguing over who is the supreme race. The English or the Irish?" Cordy said, exiting the room.

Angel waited until he was sure she'd gone and quickly climbed out of bed, this caused Buffy to ask "What are you up too?"

"I'm going to help Doyle gang up on Wes" Angel said, as he hurried to get dressed.

Buffy burst out laughing as she watched Angel run out of the apartment to go join his friends. After a few minutes she slowly got up and attempted to get ready for work.

ANGEL INVESTIGATIONS

Kate Lockley stood outside the door to Angel Investigations, she was nervous about going inside. The truth was she was still in love with Angel and hoped that the last few months apart had given Angel the clarity to realise that he belonged with her and not that Buffy-bimbo. Kate was highly optimistic that Buffy was no longer even around, which would mean Angel felt the same way as she did. She opened the door and walked inside to find Cordy sitting at her desk, while there was a lot of shouting coming from Angel's office.

Cordy heard the door open and started in on her customer spiel, "Welcome to Angel Investigations..." She then looked up and saw it was Kate or as Cordy called her Magoo, "Oh it's you. He's busy".

"I'm in no hurry, I'll wait" Kate said, taking a seat.

Cordy was about to tell her where to shove that seat, when she remembered that Kate didn't know about Buffy's condition and Buffy should be up soon. "Sure" Cordy said, cheerfully, "I'm sure he won't be too long". Cordy sat there anxiously awaiting Buffy's arrival and wondering if she had enough film in her camera.

Buffy stepped into the lift and pressed the up button, she was eternally grateful that Angel had that lift because otherwise she feared she'd be stuck in the apartment forever. When she finally arrived upstairs, she found Kate the cow sitting in the office. She was about to turn and go back downstairs when she realised it was her best opportunity to drive the cow insane. "Morning Cordy" Buffy called out, as she waddled towards the desk.

Kate froze when she heard that voice, it was Buffy's.

"Good morning Co...I mean Kate" Buffy said.

Kate thought when she saw Buffy. "Hi" Kate replied, in shock.

"Oh Kate" Cordy said. "You do remember Buffy, don't you? You know Angel's wife?"

"WIFE?" Kate yelled.

Cordy quickly took a picture while Magoo was distracted. "Calm down, Monkey Butt" Cordy told her, "Angel and Buffy were married three months ago".

"But she's...And vampires can't..." Kate spluttered.

"It's a long story involving a demon" Buffy told her, patronisingly.

"Congratulations" Kate mumbled, getting up and quickly leaving.

"Wow" Cordy said, "We destroyed her".

"Totally" Buffy agreed.

About ten minutes later the guys appeared. "We need to ask ya a question" Doyle said.

"Shoot" Cordy replied.

"Who are the worse drunks. Englishmen or Irishmen?"

"No idea" Cordy said.

"No offence Wes, but I'd have to say Englishmen" Buffy replied.

"How do you know?" Wes asked.

"Well, I've seen Spike, Giles and Doyle tanked and the truth is both Giles and Spike were much worse" Buffy answered.

"Wait a sec, Mr Tweed got tanked? When?" Cordy asked, curiously.

"Freshman year, Spike was causing trouble. He told Giles he was unnecessary and Giles decided to drown his sorrows" Buffy said.

"Wow" Cordy said, wondering what else normal Giles could do.

The guys seemingly satisfied with the answer went back in the office to continue their debate.

When she was sure the guys were busy, Buffy said to Cordy, "Want to hear the latest from Sunnyhell?"

"You know I do" Cordy replied.

"Xander and Anya had a baby boy".

"Oh My God, another fashion victim has been unleashed upon the world" Cordy said, and before Buffy could say anything Cordy continued, "Please, like you've never thought that?"

Buffy would have said something but the phone rang and work prevailed.

THE APARTMENT (LATER)

Angel entered the apartment to find Buffy asleep in bed. He got undressed and climbed in beside her, when she didn't stir he pulled her close and held her. As sleep was elusive, he laid there thinking about how lucky he'd been the past year, not only was the clause gone, but he was married to the love of his un-life and in a few months they'd be parents. He'd never even begun to imagine any of this was possible and yet here it was, a miracle. Angel sent a silent prayer to the Power's That Be and fell asleep.
