Part 3: Come Forth Angel
Faith's POV:
Faith could honestly say as she walked
toward the library that
she was now a friend with two of the world's most feared vampires in
history. They were very different than she thought they would be.
Maggie had a sarscasict streak in her a mile wide but it was all in
good nature. Johnthan had an odd sense of humor but easy to grasp.
Willow and her stayed at the vampires home until dark when it was
decided that they must go. She had enjoyed her time getting to know
the pair. Faith surprised both vampires with her knowledge of both
of
them. It was apparent that both did not believe the Watcher's council
had any important information about them. They were mistaken. The
Watcher's council had a great deal of information about them. It was
said in one book that they believed that if any slayer were ever to
run into either vampire that the slayer's death would be shortly
coming. And here she was walking to her base of operations with both
of them.
"Giles! We're here!" Willow yelled as
they walked into the
library. Willow seemed to be glowing in excitement. Her happiness was
very evident. Xander and Cordelia were sitting at the table and looked
up as the four entered. Giles came out of his office and looked at
the
two new comers.
Giles' POV:
"Giles I would like you to meet Johnthan
and Maggie, they'll
be helping us. Guys, this is Giles, but you all ready knew that
right?" Willow explained then took her usual seat by the computer.
"Yes well it is nice to meet you. I'm
glad you could help us."
Giles said and shook Johnthan's hand. He looked oddly at Willow and
saw her nod. He swallowed and looked back at the vampire that he was
holding hands with. Then he turned to Maggie who he noticed was
extremely
pale as well. Giles could not believe he was shaking hands with two
vampires and his slayer wasn't the least bite concerned. He kept quiet
not sure what exactly to do in his present situation. He was going
to
have to talk to Willow about her choice in friends and Faith in her
ability to let them so near them all.
"Well when do we start G-man? I'm ready
for a hamburger and
dancing." Xander asked glaring at Johnthan all the while. The vampire
didn't seem to even notice. Cordelia on the other hand was practical
drool over the sight of the red haired male.
"I suggest we get started. Which of
you will be the warrior
and which the spell caster?" Giles asked. Cordelia snorted rather
unlady like.
"Well that's obvious isn't Giles. The
guy, how on earth would
that little girl fight demons from hell? Really Giles you should know
better."
"That's our Cordelia, always so tactful.
But really Giles,
she's right." Xander said looking at the very attractive redhead.
"Actually Maggie's the warrior and Johnthan
the spell caster.
He's better at magic than Maggie is. Right guys." Faith commented
loving the looks on Xander and Cordelia's faces. Maggie smiled behind
her hand as she took the sword that Johnthan handed her.
"Right then I suggest we get started."
Giles said trying to
relive some of the tension in the room.
Once the circle was drawn, Giles began
to explain while he and
Willow made minor adjustments before they began.
"Right then, Johnthan, you and Willow
will help me perform the
spell while Xander, you, Cordelia, and Faith will guard the door and
keep anyone out. We don't need anyone in here while doing this. It
could prove very dangerous. Maggie, you will need to stay in the
center of the circle and wait for the portal to open. You will only
have to fight one demon if everything goes according to plan. Willow
will call Angel from hell and hopefully, you will only have to fight
to distract the demon. Is everyone clear on their jobs?" He waited
for
the series of nods before continuing. "Right then, shall we begin."
It
wasn't really a question but a statement.
Willow's POV:
With everyone going to they're respective
places, Willow
watched with curious eyes as Johnthan and Maggie began to speak
quietly. Willow was never exactly sure what type of relationship they
had. Sometimes they were friends and others they seemed to have
something more buried just beneath the surface.
Johnthan's POV:
Johnthan could honestly say he was scared
for his mate. He
didn't really show those things to anyone but Maggie. She had always
had that ability on him. He loved Maggie as both a demon and person.
It was this type of love that his knees shaking. He pressed his hand
to her cheek, loving the feeling of her smooth, cool skin against his
own.
"You will be careful, and don't do anything
foolish." He
leaned his forehead to her own and whispered to where not even the
slayer could hear. "I need you Maggie the Mad, don't leave me over
a
fallen angel even if it's for Willow." And with those words he quickly
kissed her on the lips and went to his spot on the hardwood floor
between Giles and Willow.
Maggie's POV:
Maggie watched him seat himself on the floor. She couldn't help but
smile at him. There were things about Johnthan that only she knew,
only she would ever know. She had held him when they're world had
fallen apart and after all the hardships they had endured he still
fancied himself her protector. When she was the older of the two of
them. She loved him more than reason would allow and she often thought
that was the reason they had survived when they began experiencing
guilt. Maggie stood in the center of the circle drawn of chalk and
prayed to whomever was listening to her that they would protect her
friends.
Thus began the hardest night of the
mortals' lives and of the
immortals.
The portal itself wasn't overly big
but enough so that the
vampire in question would be able to get threw. Maggie felt the energy
and power around her and stopped in awe of the feelings it carried.
It
carried its spellcaster's feelings. Worry, was the major feeling she
felt.
Giles' POV:
He watched the two vampires speak to
each other and sat in
almost awe at there obvious love for one another. It was something
he
had never witness in creatures of darkness and rarely in humans. It
was the looks, the touches, the words that he could not hear that made
him believe that these creatures were not lying in their ability to
care for Willow and what she seemed so desperate to need. Giles had
known for a time now that Willow and Angel where friends. They seemed
to understand each other's pain better than anyone else does.
Now
that Angel was gone, Willow had no one to understand her the way he
did. Now she was going to open hell to get her friend and
understanding back. He believed that Willow would be the truest friend
they would ever have. Any of them.
Giles watched in horror as the most
gruesome thing he had ever
seen stepped out of the portal. It looked at its surroundings before
lunging at Johnthan only to find a barrier protecting him. Maggie took
that opportunity to stab the demon in the side with her sword. When
she pulled it out of the now roaring demon's side her sword was
covered in a green thick blood that was also oozing from its side.
Willow's POV:
I watched one of my best friends begin
a fight for a man (or
vampire) she had never meet for me. I felt pride in knowing that this
person was my friend. I saw her make her first move and I began my
second spell.
"I call thee, come forth my friend.
I call forth an angel, my angel.
Bring him to be brought to this plane.
This I command.
Do my bidding,
In the Goddess' name
I command."
I watched the portal for any sign of
him. I would continual
look to the fight that Maggie was waging against the huge beast. I
noticed that she was beginning to tier. 'Please! Come I've come this
far, you can come the rest of it. Come on, Angel' And as if he had
heard me I saw his torn beaten body walking on very shaky legs toward
us.
Maggie's POV:
I was beginning to think I was really
going to die in that
circle. I could not believe how powerful the demon was. It wasn't
using a weapon, just its claws and teeth, which had taken a nice size,
bite out of me already. Then I looked to the portal to see if the
vampire was there yet and to my surprise and joy he was coming. I was
going to make it, but I made a very grave mistake. I took my
eyes off
my opponent. When I turned my eyes back it was to late. I screamed
as
razor sharp teeth prieced my skin. He had me by the other shoulder,
and its slimy hands were wrapped around my body so I could not counter
attack. I felt the blood leaving my body and entering his. I was going
to die. I said the one thing my mind could think of before succumbing
to the darkness.
"Johnthan"
Angel's POV:
I could see the opening, the light,
I saw Willow. I stumbled
toward the opening and prayed it was not an illusion. I came out of
the portal and saw her, another redheaded girl, but she was dangling.
The demon that had for so long tormented me with visions of my friend
now stood holding someone else. I looked beyond her to see a short
redhead, male this time. He was vamped out and banging against an
invisible barrier. He looked so helpless as Willow tried to calm
him.
But it was futile, he was to wrapped around trying to save the girl
that my demon now held captive.
I would save her.
Johnthan's POV:
I could feel her dying. I could feel myself losing control of
everything. I couldn't help her. No, was all I could think. I had
Maggie with me for 823 years and I could not imagine life without my
lover.
"Maggie!" I screamed the name that I would yell to in my nightmares
of the past. I would call the same name when we made love. I could
feel myself loosing everything all at once. I could feel the
overbearing weight of loss setting on my soul. Something I didn't have
anymore. I had lost it. My everything was going and I could do
nothing.
Angel's POV:
I watched the demon turn to face me
with the girl sill
dangling from his mouth. He looked at me and pointed to outside the
barrier. He wanted out. He wanted the one thing I never wanted.
He
wanted to come back with me. He wanted to become part of my body
again. I had a choice. I could wait for the girl to die and get out
of
the barrier or I could let him back in and save this girl who had
risked fighting him to get me out. My decision was made before
I even
finished the equation. I nodded and watched him drop the body to the
floor and closed my eyes. I felt the sheering pain that was the demon
entering my body. I fell into darkness.
