Willow took a final look around the bedroom, her heart thumping in her
chest.
They had been in LA for two months now, and had decided that
this was the
weekend to return to Sunnydale. Xander had been ringing her phone
nearly
every day telling her how much he missed her, and Giles was desperate
for her
help with the computer. She had asked him to explain the problem
over the
phone, but after a lot of sighing and references to 'that dread machine'
she
had given in, and agreed to go to Sunnydale.
"You ready?" Angel's voice startled her out of her thoughts.
"I suppose so." Willow went to pick up her bag, but Angel had
already
claimed it.
"You shouldn't worry." Angel could tell that she was from the
speed that her
heart was beating.
"I know. It's just that Buffy hasn't calmed down yet. Xander
said that
she's always asking him if we're coming. Even Giles can't make
her see
sense." Willow moved out of the bedroom.
"What about Riley?" Angel couldn't resist a smile as he remembered
Riley's antics on that fateful night.
"I don't know. Xander doesn't say much about him. Just that
Buffy is still
really mad, and to be careful." Willow turned around and reached
up to
stroke Angel's face. "You will be careful, won't you?"
"I'm always careful," Angel responded, and Willow snorted at this.
"Yeah, and I'm afraid of the computer." Willow rolled her eyes
and headed
for the elevator.
"Okay. I promise to be careful." Angel caught up with her
and took hold of
her hand.
"You better be. If you get dusted, I'll..." Willow trailed
off, unable to
think of a suitable fate for a pile of dust.
"Vaccuum me up?" Angel supplied helpfully.
"Why do I put up with you?" Willow muttered.
"Well, let me think...you love me?"
"Oh yeah. If I didn't love you, I definitely wouldn't be able
to put up with
you." Willow scrunched up her face in thought. "Of course,
it could always
be your sunny disposition."
"About time." An exasperated Cordelia greeted them as they emerged
from the
elevator.
"What are you doing here?" Willow slapped Angel on the arm, and
he realised
how rude that had sounded. "I mean, I gave you the weekend off.
Normally
that means I don't see you for dust."
"There you go with the 'dust' again." Willow rolled her eyes.
"Excuse me?" Cordelia looked from one to the other.
"Sorry, vampire joke." Willow explained with a smile.
"What's funny about pointy teeth, bad clothes and strange hair?"
Cordelia
saw the look Angel was giving her and changed the subject. "Are
we going
then?"
"We?" Angel asked.
"You don't think I'm staying here, do you?" Cordelia shook her
head in
disbelief. "I'm not missing this. It's about time that
somebody showed
Buffy that the world doesn't revolve around her." Cordelia set
off towards
the door. "Oh, Angel, would you get my bag, it's a bit heavy."
Cordelia
gestured over to the desk. Angel found the suitcase and tested
its weight.
"A bit heavy? We're only going for a weekend." Angel groaned
as he
lifted the suitcase.
"You've got to be prepared." Cordelia headed out.
"Prepared for what? A nuclear explosion?" Angel retorted,
coming out of
the apartment afterwards.
"Oh, don't worry! I'll open the door for you." Willow gave him
her most
innocent smile.
"If anybody kills me this weekend, it won't be Buffy." Angel muttered
as he
struggled through the doorway.
