~~Part Six~~

"Willow, do you think we could hold the slumber party at your parents' house?"  Buffy asked, once Willow, Spike and Angel had arrived at the Bronze, gotten their drinks, and took a seat.

"They're gonna be in town.  Sorry."

"My mom's gonna be here too.  We can't have it at Xander's either. His parents are weird.  Giles said he won't be able to make it because Olivia will be in town, which cancels out his place. Is there anyone else we can ask?"

Willow sat thinking for a few minutes, then blurted, "Spike!  We could have it at Spike's!"

"Do you think he'd agree?"

"I'll ask."  Willow turned, and tapped Angel on the shoulder.  Angel turned and looked at the witch.  "Angel, could you ask Spike if he would mind having our slumber party at his place?"

"Sure."  Angel turned and asked Spike.  "Spike, would you have the slumber party for the Scoobies at your place?"

"Hell NO!!"  Almost everyone in the club heard him.  Angel turned back to Willow.  "He says that he'll need a little time to think about it."

"Angel, I heard him."

"I know, but I was hoping you didn't."

"I think half of Sunnydale heard him."  Willow thought for a moment.  Then said, "Pretty please?  With a cherry on top?  Say that, and you have to give him the puppy dog eyes too."

"Willow, I haven't done that in decades."

"I didn't want to know that you ever actually gave him puppy dog eyes.  Just ask.  Don't give me any details."

Angel turned back to Spike.  Putting on his best puppy dog eyes, he looked into Spike's eyes, and asked, "Pretty please, with a cherry on top?"

"On top of you or Willow?"

"Which would you rather?"  Angel asked.

"Both if possible."

"That could be arranged.  Is that a yes?"

"Yes, that's a yes."

Angel turned back to Willow.  "Yes."

"Thank you, Angel."  Willow gave Angel a quick peck on the cheek, then turned back to Buffy.

"What was that?"

"What was what?"

"That."  Buffy pointed at Angel.  "With Angel.  What was that?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Kissing him."

"I just pecked him on the cheek.  He is my friend.  Anyway, Spike said yes."

"You've been spending a lot of time with Angel. Is something going on between you and him?"

"No, Buffy, we're just friends."

"Sure."

Willow looked at her best friend.  Then nugged Angel.  He turned quickly and looked at her.  He could see that she was annoyed.  "Spike, move."

"Do what?"  Spike asked, not seeing Willow.

"Move."  Angel growled.

Spike saw Willow, and jumped out of his seat.

Willow stormed out of the Bronze, and Spike and Angel followed her.  Once outside, Spike asked, "Luv, what's wrong?"  He positioned himself in front of her, forcing her to look at him.  When she didn't answer, he asked again, "What's wrong?"

"It's Buffy."

"What about her?"  Angel walked a few yards away, but not too far; he wanted to hear what was being said, since he heard the mention of Buffy.

"She, sh-she thinks Angel and I have a thing f-for each oth-other."  Willow was sobbing.  How could her so-called best friend say such a thing.

"Oh, luv, that's nothing to worry over.  Come on.  Let's get you home."  Spike pulled her to him, and held her close until they arrived at the front door of his apartment.

He opened the door, and allowed Angel to enter first.  Then he picked Willow up in his arms, and carried her to the bedroom. Once there, he stripped her down to her panties and bra, and put an old shirt on her.  She was half asleep from crying by the time he was putting the shirt on her.  "Sweet dreams, luv.  I'll be in soon."  He pulled the covers up to her chin, and closed the door behind himself when he left.

"Is she okay?"  Angel asked.

"She's just hurt that the Slayer would say something like that?"

"I guess her saying that she was coming here to see me, when she was coming to see you wasn't the greatest idea."

"Doesn't matter.  I have a feeling that something is going to get out at this bloody 'slumber party'.  Come on, there's gonna be 5 teens here, drinking.  Do you think something won't get out?"

"I guess it would."  Angel agreed.

"We have to go out and get something for her.  Something she can have here and only here."

"How about a puppy?"  Angel offered.

"Let's go."  Spike grabbed his duster that he had forgotten to wear to the Bronze, and pulled Angel outside.

*****

"I think Willow would like that little Chocolate Lab pup."  Angel said, pointing at the cute little puppy.

"No.  I was lookin' at that one."  Spike pointed at a Rottweiler pup.  "Plus, once she grows up, she can be the watch dog."

"Labs are good watch dogs, and they're cute."

"He's cute.  I'm takin' 'im.  I like 'im."

"It doesn't matter what you like.  It's what Willow would like."

"Hmm.  Good point.  What about him?"  Spike pointed at a little puppy.  Very similar in appearance to the Chocolate Lab.  It was laying down, not really paying attention to the two vampires staring at it.

"It's nice, but what is it?"

"That there is the next best thing to a Rottweiler."

"And that would be?"

"The rarest of the Labrodor Retreivers.  The White Lab."

"You sound like you know what you're talking."

"I've always liked dogs.  So I know a few things about them."

"Oh."  Angel replied.

"Clerk!"  Spike yelled.

Angel put his hand over his ear, and glared at his childe.  "That was my ear you screamed into."

"Sorry."  Spike said, obviously not sorry because he probably did it on purpose.

"May I help you?"  A young girl with green spiked hair, black jeans, a black t-shirt and Doc Martens asked. She looked at the two, and then at the glass window seperating customers from the dogs.  "Hey!  You guys are vampires, aren't you?"

They looked at each other, then back at the girl.  "That obvious?"  Angel asked.

"Well, you have no complexion, by looking in your eyes, I can see you have no soul,"  Angel raised an eyebrow at her.  "Oh, but you do.  Wonder how that happened?  That plus, the glass usually gives a reflection."  She pointed at their non-existent reflections.

"Oh."

"So, which dog do you want?  Tequila's a really good dog.  She's already trained."

"Which one's that?"  Spike asked.

"The Rottie."

"Actually, we were looking at the White Lab."

"Oh, that's Draven.  She's a good dog too."

"After Eric?"

"Of course, who else?"  The gothic clerk said,  "I'm trying to get someone to buy Tequila, because she's only got a few days left before they put her to sleep."

"But she's only a pup?"  Spike argued.

"I know.  I can't take her, my parents won't allow it."

Spike thought for a moment.  "Well, I guess Draven is going to need someone to play with.  So I'll take them both."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Thank you so much."  She almost hugged Spike, but then remembered the whole vampire thing, and didn't feel like losing her life just yet.

"I'll even make you a deal.  Anytime you want to see her, you can come over."

After paying for the two pups, Spike gave the girl his business card.  "I'm Spike.  This is Angel."

"Hey, good to meet you both.  I'm Meri."

"See you soon, Meri."

"Yeah.  See ya."

*****

"I can't believe you told her where you live."

"She liked the dog.  Wanted to take her home.  Can't break a kid's heart like that."

"Spike, I swear somewhere in there you have a soul."

"No, just a caring demon."

*****

"Willow."  Spike whispered.  "Luv, wake up.  I have something for you."

She batted her eyes a little, trying to wake up.

Spike plopped Draven on her stomach.  "His name's Draven."

"Oh my goddess!  Spike, thank you!"  She gave him a quick hug, then went back to playing with the puppy.

"He has to stay here though."

"Why?"  She asked, sadness in her eyes.

"How else is he going to play with Tequila? His new playmate."  Spike pointed next to Willow.

"Another one!?"

"She's mine, he's yours."

"Oh, thank you soo much Spike."

"Alright, now go back to sleep."

Spike stripped down, and walked to the other side of the bed.

*****

"Spike, thanks again for letting us have the party here."  It was the following day, and Willow had gotten over Buffy's comments.  She was now deciding what had to be done to Spike's apartment in order for the party.  "We'll have to move some furniture.  I don't think we'll be able to get four sleeping bags in here."

"Four?"  Spike questioned.

"Yeah, Xander, Anya, Buffy, and me."

"You're not sleeping in here."

"But I have to.  They don't know that you and I are together."  Spike was obviously disappointed.  "Okay, if it comes out tonight, then I'll stay in your room, but you can't just tell them. They have to figure it out themselves."

"Okay."

~~Part Seven~~

"Hello Joyce.  Is Buffy here?"

"Yes she is Angel.  Please come in.  She's getting her bag ready." Joyce stepped out of the way to allow Angel into her home.

"Thank you."

"Take a seat in the living room.  Would you like something to drink?"

"No thank you."  Angel sat quietly in the Summers' living room.

A few minutes later, Buffy walked downstairs.  "Hi Angel.  Ready?" The question came out coldly.

*She really thinks Willow and I are together.*  "Yes."

Once outside, Angel began, "Buffy, I just want you to know that Willow and I are not together.  And I don't want to hear about it at all."

"Than why has she been spending so much time with you?"

"We're friends, Buffy.  Friends hang out and talk."

Buffy decided to let the topic drop.  The rest of the walk to Spike's apartment was made in silence.

*****

"Spike, stop.  They'll be here any minute."  From the moment Angel left the apartment, Spike was all over Willow.  He knew this would be his last chance to 'touch' her for the remainder of the night, unless of course, their secret got out. "Spike, I said stop."  Willow was pushing Spike's hands away from her body as she prepared some of the snacks.  "Why don't you go get the liquor ready?"

"Pushin' me away, are you?  I know why."

"Why?"  Willow asked, knowing that's what he wanted.

"Because you don't love me."

"Spike you're being foolish."

"Am I?"

"Yes."

"Prove it.  Tell me just how much you love me."

"'You're in my heart.  You're in my soul.  You'll be my breath should I grow old.  You are my lover.  You're my best friend. You're in my soul.  My love for you is immeasurable. You're ageless, timeless, you're beauty and elegance.'  That good enough for you?"

"I'm not sure about the elegance, but the rest sounds good."  Spike grabbed Willow, and picked her up in his arms.  His mouth met her as he placed her back on her feet.  Their tongues dueled....until the front door opened and Buffy and Angel walked in.

Buffy's jaw dropped and Angel cleared his throat.

Spike's head snapped towards the front door.  "Well, I'm happy you're here, Red."   Spike walked over to Buffy.  "You too, Slayer."  He said, before planting a deep emotionless kiss on her lips.  When he pulled away, he walked over and began to go through the liquor, leaving a dazed Buffy and laughter-stricken Angel at his front door.

"I don't think I've ever seen Deadboy laugh.  What's so funny?"  Xander said, as he and Anya walked in.

Angel couldn't speak.  He pointed at Spike and then at Buffy, and then at Spike again as Spike walked over to the couple.

"Hello Anya."  He said before kissing her as he did Buffy, only he added a little emotion.  *Hey, I've got a soft spot for the ex-demon.*

"Hey, that's my girlfriend."

"Hey, I'm just greeting her."  Spike then leaned towards Xander.

"Hey!  None of that!"

Spike's actions only made Angel laugh harder.  Willow handed Angel a mug of blood.  As Angel began to drink the mug, Spike leaned towards Xander again, this time, actually sneaking up on the teen enough that he was able to grab a quick kiss.  This caused Angel to squirt blood out his nose.

"What are you doing?!?"   Xander screamed, looking at Spike.

"What?"  Spike asked innocently.

"Spike, Xander, leave each other alone.  Everyone, you can put your sleeping bags and clothes over here."  Willow said pointing to a corner.  "To start the night, I think we should relax and watch a movie.  I rented 'Erin Brokovich'."

"Well, at least it's not a vampire movie like last time."  Buffy said.

*****

The movie was almost over.  Spike and Willow were sitting next to each other on the couch, with Angel on the other side of Willow.  Anya and Xander were laying on the floor in a spooning position, while Buffy sat on the floor next to Angel.

No one took notice to Spike's arm around Willow's shoulder or Willow's hand on Spike's thigh.

The credits began to roll, and Buffy turned off the VCR, and turned on the lights.  "Now what?"  She asked Willow.

"I don't know.  I was thinking maybe a game?"

"Truth or Dare?"  Angel offered.  All eyes turned to him.  "I'm sure there's something we all want to know about someone else." He fought.

"Okay."  Buffy, Xander and Anya chimed together.  Willow and Spike both nodded.

The group gathered around into a circle.  Xander and Anya sat next to each other, with Buffy on the other side of Anya, and Willow next to Xander.  Spike sat next to Willow, and Angel was between Spike and Buffy.

"Who's gonna start?"  Willow asked.

"The Poof should.  It was his idea."  Spike said.

"Fine.  Xander, truth or dare?"

"Truth."

"If you could be anyone else in the room, who would you want to be?"

"You."  He answered.

"Why?"

"Only one question."  Xander said.  "Buffy, truth or dare?"

"Truth."

"Are you really over Deadboy?"

"I changed my mind.  Dare."

"I don't think she can do that."  Anya said.

"Yeah!" Xander agreed.

Spike whispered in Willow's ear, and Willow in turn whispered something to Xander.

"Oh, okay.  Okay, Buffy you can change your mind.  I dare you to....answer my question."

"No."  She replied.  "Willow, truth or dare?"

"Truth."

"Are you and Angel seeing each other behind our backs?"  This had been bothering Buffy; she didn't want to see the two of them together.

"No.  Anya, truth or dare?"

"Well, you're all wusses, dare."

Willow was stumped.  She was expecting truth.  Angel leaned across Spike and whispered to Willow.  Spike's eyes lit up at the idea.  "I can't do that Angel!  I don't want to see that!"  Willow scolded.

"Fine, I'll take truth, but I want to know what he said to you later."

"Later."  Willow replied.  "Okay, truth........why did you really come back?"

"Really?"

"Yes."

"I forgot a talisman in my locker.  I was hoping I would be able to find it."

"Did you?'  Willow asked.

"Yes.  Then I went over to Xander's to see what he was *up* to.  Spike, truth or dare?"

"Dare."

"I've heard from a reliable resource that you have a good voice.  Serenade us."

Spike stood and walked into his bedroom.  "I guess he doesn't want to play."  Buffy said.

"Give him a few seconds."  Willow said.

Moments later, they heard a guitar playing.

'Highway run
Into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
You're on my mind
Restless hearts
Sleep alone tonight
Sendin' all my love
Along the wire

They say that the road
Ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line
It's been you and me
And lovin' a music man
Ain't always what it's supposed to be

Oh girl you stand by me
I'm forever yours--faithfully

Circus life
Under the big top world
We all need the clowns
To make us smile
Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am
Lost without you

And being apart ain't easy on this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy
Of rediscovering you
Oh girl,  you stand by me
I'm forever yours--faithfully

Oh, oh, oh, oh--
Faithfully, I'm still yours
I'm forever yours
Ever yours--faithfully'

Spike tried his hardest not to look at Willow while he was singing.

"Wow.  I was expecting 'God Save the Queen' or 'My Way'."  Anya said.

"Yeah, well.  Sire, truth or dare?"

"Truth."

"Are you over the Slayer?"

Angel looked at Buffy before answering.  "Yes."  He could see the hurt in her eyes, as she ran past him and into the bathroom. "What did I do?"

"You didn't do anything wrong, Angel.  You just answered the question."  Willow said.  She looked at Spike, and whispered, "Mister, you'll be paying for that later."

"Why?  I didn't know what he was going to say."

Willow just glared at him.

A few minutes later, Buffy came out, and looked at Spike oddly. Then asked, "Spike, why do you have tampons in your bathroom?"

~~Part Eight~~

Spike didn't know what to say.  Why would a vampire have tampons in his bathroom?  Other than the fact that the Slayer's friend was living with him.  Just as he was about to say something, Willow spoke, "They're mine."

"Willow, why would your tampons be in Spike's apartment?"  Buffy, as well as every other human, expect Willow of course, was confused.

"Well, it's because...um...uh...they're here because...."

"Cause she was going to be here tonight, and I told her she could put them in there."  Spike interrupted.

"Oh."  Buffy sat down by Xander and Anya, not wanting to be by Angel after his confession.

"Spike, why don't we go get some drinks for everyone?"  Anya offered to the dead room.

"Okay."  Spike agreed, walking into the kitchen with the ex-demoness behind him.

"So, how long have you and Red been dating?"  She asked bluntly.

Spike just looked at her.  "I'm not going to tell anyone, I'm just curious."

"Since you know about my serenading, it's been since then."

"Wow.  You two are really good at hiding it."

"Tell me about it.  Now she's--"

"Living here.  That's why her tampons are here."

"Right."

Spike and Anya rejoined the group in the living room, still chatting a little about their conversation in kitchen.

"What are you guys talking about?"  Buffy asked.

"Oh, nothing of importance."  Anya replied.

"Well, let's start playing again."  Willow said.  "It's your turn Angel."

"Buffy, truth or dare?"  He asked.

Buffy glared at the vampire.  "Truth."

"How do you feel right now?"

Buffy took a deep breath, and released it before answering.  "I should say angry, but I can't be.  I mean, you were bound to move on.  I guess I should have as well."  Angel nodded, and Buffy continued.  "Anya, truth or dare?"

"Um...truth."

"What were you and Spike talking about in the kitchen?"  Anya looked at Spike.

"Last time I saw that face, Bambi's mother was in my crosshairs." Spike said.  He didn't want the rest of the people in the room to know what they had discussed.  He was hoping Anya would get his hint.

"We...we were talking about Disney movies?"  Anya wasn't sure if that's what Spike wanted.  **Good chit.**

"Disney movies?"  Buffy asked.

"Yeah.  I have a whole collection."  Spike pointed toward the entertainment center.  There on the shelves, in plain view, was a collection of animated Disney movies.

"Okay.  Willow, truth or dare?"  Anya asked.

"Truth."

"What did Angel suggest you dare me to do?"

Willow's face reddened.  "He told me to tell you to give Xander a blow job right here, in front of us."

"Eeew!!"  Buffy whined.  "That's disgusting.  Angel, I can't believe you would want to see that."

"Actually, I wouldn't, but to see Xander's face if Anya actual went through with it.  That would have been priceless.  Almost as good as when Spike kissed."

"Can we please not talk about that?"  Xander asked.  Still disgusted with the whole event.

*****

The group had taken another break.  Xander was looking around the room, at Spike's decor.  Anya was in the bathroom. Angel had stretched out on the couch, while Willow and Spike were in the kitchen.  Buffy was getting her sleeping bag ready.

"The night's almost over."  Willow said.  "There were a few close calls, but we're doing good."

"You know you just jinxed, luv."

"Damn it!"

"Willow!"  Willow went running down the hall.  Xander was standing in Spike's bedroom; he had a picture frame in his hand. Willow paled.  She knew all too well what was in that picture frame. "Why is there a picture of you and me in Spike's room?" The other occupants of the house were now in Spike's room as well.

Buffy looked as if she was putting 2 and 2 together, but kept getting 5.  "Wait!"  She finally got 4.  "Tampons?  Xander and Willow in a frame?  Is Willow living here?  You two are together.  I can't believe the two of you lied to me.  I hate you, Angel!" Well, maybe not exactly 4.  Probably more like 4.1 or 3.9, but
close.

"Buffy, I'm not dating Willow."  Angel stated.

The little light above Xander's head went on.  "Not Angel!  He doesn't live here!  She's dating Spike!"

Buffy turned and stared at Spike, who was standing next to Willow. Spike could see the anger radiating from her.  He instinctively pulled Willow behind him, putting himself between her and the danger.  Buffy charged.  Spike pushed Willow to the bed, and took the full force of Buffy, knocking him to the ground.
She sat there on his chest, and pounded on his face.  Angel finally pulled her off.  "Buffy!  Get a hold of yourself!"

"I'm fine!  But he's dangerous!  He shouldn't be with Willow.  He could hurt her!"

"Not with the chip."  Anya added.

"You're alright with this..this...this relationship?"

"Hey, they're in love.  I don't have a problem with that."  Anya looked at Xander.

"I agree with her, Buffy.  They do look in love."  Xander walked around the bed, and past Buffy.  He pulled Spike to his feet, and helped Willow off the bed.  Willow brushed her hand across Spike's quickly healing face.  Then took his hand in hers.

"I love him, Buffy."

Buffy looked at Spike.  "You don't have to ask.  It's true.  I love her."  It was the first time he ever really used the words, and he liked the way it sounded.  Buffy looked at Angel, hoping he would disapprove.

Not likely.  "I've known since I arrived.  I don't have a problem with them.  He really does love her."

'Don't run away, lover
I still want you by my side.
Don't run away, lover
I still need at my side.
Don't run away, lover
I'm not done with my torture.
Don't run away, lover
My limbs are still attached.
Don't run away, lover
Because my heart is forever attached.'

~~Part Nine~~

"Spike, I'm gonna go over to the dorm.  See how Buffy's doing. After she ran out last night, I kinda got worried."

"Yeah, don't need the Slayer runnin' off and committin' now do we?" Spike replied sarcastically.

"Spike!  Buffy's my friend.  You should at least be nice to say that kind of stuff when I'm not in the room."

"I'll try to remember that."

*****

"Buffy?  You in here?"  Willow asked as she opened the dorm door.  She walked in after not receiving a response.  Buffy was laying asleep on her bed. Mr. Gordo snuggly in her arms.  Willow walked over, and shook Buffy, "Buffy?  It's Willow.  Can we talk?"

Buffy jumped upright.  "What are you doing here?!?"  She spat.

"I just wanted to talk.  You know, get the whole Spike thing out of the way."

"Fine.  Let me get dressed."

*****

The two decided to go to a little coffee shop, and talk out their feelings.  Everything was going fine until Buffy decided to get in between the couple by putting a few doubts in Willow's head about Spike's love.  Among the ideas, Buffy did pretty well with the Drusilla one.

"How do you know he's not thinking about Drusilla when he's with you?  You could just be some kind of substitute for her. Maybe he's just using you.  You know, 'make her love you then snap her neck and drain her'."

Willow contemplated everything that Buffy had said, and decided she needed some time just to think.  She spent the rest of the day roaming around the streets of Sunnydale.  She'd finally made up her mind about an hour before sunset.  *Spike should still be asleep.  Angel, too if I'm lucky.  I could sneak in and sneak back out.*

*****

Before going into Spike's apartment, Willow wrote out a quick note. She entered the house using a key that Spike had given her.  She crept into his room, and grabbed a few of her personal items (the picture of she and Xander, a stuffed animal, and some things from the dresser).  Before leaving, she left the note along with the key on the pillow next to Spike's head.  Her pillow.

*****

Spike woke up, feeling something was wrong.  He couldn't quite place it though.  Wasn't sure exactly what it was, but knew something was missing.  He rolled over, and felt something crinkle under his head.  He rolled back to "his side" of the bed, and grabbed the piece of paper.  Something metallic fell, and when he looked at what fell, he knew what was missing.  His Willow was gone.  *That damned Slayer must have said something to her. She wouldn't have just left.  I'll kill that Slayer if it's the last thing I do.*

*****

"Angel!!  Wake up!"  Angel jumped up.  He knew something wasn't right.  Spike never called him Angel.  Peaches, Angelus, yes.  But never just Angel.

"Spike, what's wrong?"

"That damned Slayer talked my Red into leaving!"

"How do you  know?"

"Red's gone.  She told me this morning she was going to try to talk to the Slayer.  Now she's gone."

"Again, how do you know?"

"She left the key I gave her and this note."

"May I see it?"

Spike shoved the note at his Sire.

Dear Spike,
I'm sorry, but I can't be with you anymore.  I don't know if you really love me, or if I'm just a replacement for Drusilla.  Are you going to kill me?  Is this all a game?  There are too many questions, and not enough answers.  I'll be around to get my stuff, but I don't think we can be friends.  It'd just
be too weird.
                Signed,
                    Willow

"Willow wouldn't have done this."  Angel said.

"That's why I blame it on the Slayer."

"Then, we'll just have to fix it.  You told me the two of you got in a fight before.  How did you solve that?"

"I sang her a song over the phone."

"Well, let's try that."

Angel picked up the phone and dialed the number to Buffy and Willow's dorm room.  "Hello.  You've reached Buffy and Willow's room.  Sorry neither of us i......."

"You ready?"  Angel asked.  Spike nodded.  "I'll let you know when the gibbering stops.  Then you start."  Spike nodded again.

".....at the beep." BEEEEEEP!!

Angel pointed to Spike and held the phone to Spike so he could sing.

'I would have given you all of my heart
But there's someone who's torn it apart
And she's taken just all that I had
But if you want I'll try to love again
Baby, I'll try to love again but I know

The first cut is the deepest
Baby, I know the first cut is the deepest
But when it come to being lucky she's cursed
When it come to loving me she's the worst
I still want you by my side
Just to help me dry the tears that I've cried
And I'm sure going to give you a try
And if you want I'll try to love again
Baby, I'll try to love again but I know

The first cut is the deepest
Baby, I know the first cut is the deepest
But when it comes to being lucky she's cursed
When it comes to loving me she's the worst

I still want you by my side
Just to help me dry the tears that I've cried
But I'm sure gonna give you a try
'Cause if you want I'll try to love again
Baby, I'll try to love again but I know

The first cut is the deepest
Baby, I know the first cut is the deepest.
When it comes to being lucky she's cursed
When it comes to loving me she's the worst'

*****

The following day, Spike woke, and ran to his answering machine. "You have one new message."  The machine said.

Then Willow's voice came on.  "Spike, it was sweet and all, but it's not going to work this time.  We're just not right for one another."  Click.

Spike's dead, unbeating heart, fell out of his chest.

*****

"Spike, you here?"  Angel wandered through the house.  He didn't find anything, until he looked by the answering machine.  On the floor infront of the table was a pile of ashes.  Ashes, no stake, no Mr. Pointy.  Just ashes.  No sunlight shown on the spot. Just ashes.  "The Slayer will pay for this."  Angel said as Angelus took over.

**That Night in a Sunnydale Cemetary**

"Well, well, Slayer.  Isn't this a pretty picture?"  Angelus said, walking out of the shadows.

"Angelus.  Who let you out?"

"The soul did.  You see he's permanent now.  But when he gets pissed, he lets me out to play.  Oh, did he forget to tell you that he's made a few new friends?  I think he did."  Angelus pointed behind Buffy.

"Always trying to trick me.  When are you going to learn that I'm not that gullable?"

"Maybe when you're dead."  The being behind him said.  It was that unmistakable sing-song voice.  The voice of a true madman, or woman.

"Well, Dru, how do you think we should celebrate the death of yet another Slayer?"  Angelus asked.

"Kill her friends?"  The sociopath suggested.

"Very good.  But not the boy and the ex-demon.  They accepted our Spike.  Loved him in a way.  But the witch and the watcher will have to die."

The End.
