WORRIED

"I told them about Dru and Damien." Spike said, looking at Willow.

She froze, and looked at him. "Why?"

"That damn bastard used the right of sire to find out what happened. I never mentioned you."

"I wish he hadn't done that." She whispered. "I was hoping to keep them out of it."

"Do you think we have a chance pet?"

She nodded. "Yes. It should be a surprise, so we may be able to sneak in and destroy the bastard."

He smiled slightly at the anger in her tone. "That will be my favorite part."

She looked at him, wishing she could smile. Instead, she just nodded. "Mine too. We need to work quickly. The longer we wait, the more chance he will find out."

"Are you going to get the slayer to help?"

Willow shook her head. "No. Too risky. She might get hurt....I couldn't stand for any of them to get hurt."

"Red, what if we fail? They'll have to face him having no idea what they are up against."

She thought about that a moment. "We can't fail then." She saw his look. "Spike, I can't involve them. If they knew the truth, who knows what might happen. We might all die. As it is, I'll write Giles a letter. If we don't come back, he'll be able to know the true story. That should help them defeat Damien."

"You have it all planned don't you? You act as though facing him means nothing."

"No, I don't. It means everything. Spike, you know I would love to act as though nothing happened. Just continue with my life as innocent and naive as I was. But, I can't. He made it impossible. You should understand this. I don't know why I'm trying to explain it to you" She felt herself start to tear up. Shaking, she turned away from him. She hadn't cried in four years. She wasn't about to start now. She felt him move behind her. She stiffened when she felt his arms go around her. Eventually, she relaxed slightly as he stoked her arm, trying to make it all better. She just wished that it would work that easily.
