When Buffy had fainted Giles held back his laughing but Faith allowed the giggles to burst forth. Seeing Faith laughing nearly broke Rupert’s stoic attitude. Buffy woke up a few minutes later to Faith laughing still.
“What the hell is she doing here, Giles?” Buffy finally asked getting her footing under her.
“She’s here because she’s needed.” Giles simply stated.
“Why is she needed and how did she get out of jail?” Buffy asked getting angry.
“The council got her out and she’s needed for other things that are coming soon. Prophecies and signs that are aligning.” Giles said hoping that the lie would help him avoid the rest of the conversation all together. He knew she never listened to him so he’d hoped just this once it would be the same as usual. He didn’t want to explain about Oz and right now he didn’t know how. Oz had left and now Giles didn’t exactly know what to do. He really didn’t like to admit that even to himself.
Oz had brought Faith back and now he was gone, Faith he had realized in the short amount of time they’d spent together had indeed changed for the better.
“B, I realize this is going to be hard and that I can never apologize enough for everything I’ve done. I just hope that you’ll let me try to make it up to you.” Faith said with sincerity.
Buffy couldn’t help to think about how this would free up a lot of time to find Willow and get her away from Spike. She just knew that Spike didn’t love Willow. (I mean who could love little, mousey Willow) She thought. He must love Buffy and be using Willow to get her attention. (I mean honestly, I am the slayer.)
“I don’t trust you, but I do trust Giles so for now I’ll give you a chance.” Buffy said, already planning her trip to LA in her head, thinking of ways to separate Spike and Willow long enough to stake Spike without Angel stopping her. Hell, she still couldn’t believe Angel was allowing this relationship.
Giles couldn’t believe how Buffy was taking this, she usually would have thrown a fit, something had to be happening for her to act this way and he was bound and determined to find out what it was.
“Faith I would like you to please go and patrol tonight, I need to have a word with Buffy.” Giles asked, knowing Faith could use sometime out fighting just about now. Their search for Oz had been hard on Faith and she need tension release.
“Sure G, no problem. See ya later B.” Faith said as she gathered some stakes from Giles stash and leaving the two alone. She could feel the anger coming off of Giles and waves.
Giles waited until he was sure Faith was far enough away before confronting Buffy. He knew she had lied to Faith about her intentions and he now realized that she had to be lying about Oz too and wanted answers now.
“Giles, what did you need to talk to me about?” Buffy asked think that this was great she could leave from here and head to LA as soon as she got some clothes from home. She missed the Ripper like glare in Giles eyes with her internal thinking.
“I want to know what really happened with Oz the other night.” Giles told her as he took off his glasses and began cleaning them.
“Oz and I patrolled and talked.” She told him trying not to answer the question.
“Talked about what, Buffy?” Giles asked growing angrier by the minute.
“Willow and Spike mostly, he wanted to know my opinion of what was going on with them. I told him, he got angry and took off.” She told him looking down at her feet waiting for Giles to blow, she knew now that was inevitable.
“Did he say anything?” Giles asked taking calming breaths.
“LA, He said he was going to LA to get Will.” She finally answered.
Giles without saying a word to Buffy walked over to his phone and dialed the number Willow had given him before she left. Hoping to find out what had been happening there. Worried about Willow because the phone just kept ringing, finally Angel picked up. After the conversation ended and Giles knew about Oz’s near attack on Willow, he was even more furious at Buffy inconsideration. Ripper was peaking out from the tight walls Giles usually held him in with, he was royally pissed.
With his last bit of restraint Giles tried to get her to leave before he said something he might regret later.
“Buffy, go home. I’m very angry with you right now.” Giles told her.
”Why, Giles? What happened? What did Angel say?” She babbled at him.
“Buffy, get the BLOODY HELL out of my house!” He shouted.
Buffy left in a huff and went home to gather her clothes for her impromptu trip to LA and for the second time that day she repeated this question.
“What is she doing here?” She asked seeing Faith and her mother having tea in the kitchen when she came in.
