~Song Lyrics~

a - Regret You Leaving

~Tides of change pulled us apart
I feel a familiar pain
It seems like years since we loved
Or even liked and that's a lonely way to be~

Willow could feel Angel drifting away from her.  The last two months, he seemed distant and distracted. When she asked him about it, he denied anything was wrong.  He seemed to want to see her less and less and it was difficult to find him.  Also he seemed to be on patrol or at Giles' more and home less.

~Drifting in a sea of agony
Your face I can't recognize
Don't make this hard on us
I will miss you if you just go away~

She hardly ever saw him.  She was spending more time with Spike now than his Sire.  Spike was the one who held her and dried her tears she found out that Angel had started sleeping with Buffy again shortly after they started dating.  Of course. He was just using her to get close to Buffy again.

Spike had finally told her what was going on between his Sire and the Slayer.  She was mad that Angel had just used her.  Just a pawn to get to the one he really wanted. She was also mad that no one else would tell her the truth; just reassuring that he loved her. Right.

~I did no right you did no wrong
Nothing left but wasted days
I regret you leaving
But I will never take you back~

Everyone but Willow knew that he had never loved her, and now she was considered the bad guy for turning to Spike.  They called her a traitor, and backed Angel. Now he was trying to get her away from his Childe. Claiming that he would hurt her.  Hah. Angel had hurt her more that Spike ever would.

Every night it was the same thing: Angel would have the nerve to tell her that since he didn't have his soul, he would hurt her, and that she should work with Buffy again. Willow always told him where he could go back to and walked away.

Angel with his soul had hurt her worse than Spike would without his soul.  Souls did not make a person love; it was the person himself or herself.

Who a person or vampire is determines the ability to love, not what they are; is what she learned the hard way.

b - Perceptions

Spike could see that Angel was giving up his game.  He had gotten what he wanted and was now discarding Willow like a piece of trash.  From he overheard of their discussions he could tell that Angel refused to tell her that he was just using her to get back to his precious slayer, instead making up lame excuses.   No one else bothered to tell her either.

Willow fell for his crap because she truly loved his sire.  The redhead loved him, and was blinded by that love. Spike saw with disgust that Angel spent more time on patrol or at Giles' kissing the slayer than with Willow.

Spike's anger flared at his sire. His redheaded friend loved Angel, and instead of treating her like she deserved, he treated her like crap. He tossed aside someone who loved him for who he was for someone who only loved the idea of him.  Buffy didn't love Angel for who he was, just the idea of who she wanted him to be. She pretended Angelus didn't exist and Angel was not a vampire while Willow accepted both sides.

Spike told her when everyone else refused to, and she never questioned him.  Instead of getting angry with him for telling her, she was angry with the others for not telling her the truth, and angry with Angel for using her in his little game.

She spent more time with him then with her "friends" now because he didn't judge her.  Her "friends" called her a traitor for turning to him and backed Angel and Buffy.  Seems that she only was their friend when she stayed inside their little box and let them use her. She became a threat when she stepped outside of that box, and stood up to them.

They tried their hardest to get her back into that box.  His poof of a sire told her that Spike would hurt her since he didn't have a soul.  He may not have a soul, but he did have the ability to love, which was more important in his mind.
