Near You Always

~ Please don't kiss me so sweet
it makes me crave a thousand kisses to follow
And please don't touch me like that
makes every other embrace seem pale and shallow
please don't look at me like that
it just makes me want to make you near me always~

Willow quickly turned the radio off. Spike looked at her sideways. She was blushing. *Now why would that be* he wondered. Willow looked at Spike and caught his blue eyes just as he turned away.

“So no luck at the last place.” She said casually.

“Yeah so I guess we’ll just go meet the princess and the poof at the last place.” Spike said. Willow giggled.

“I should be saying that’s mean but it’s too funny.” She said smiling. For Spike her smile lit up the whole city of LA on it’s own. *Stop it mate, you’re only getting yourself in deeper. Peaches plan won’t work if you don’t stop thinking like that.* “You’re brooding.” She teased. He shook his head.

“No I’m not red.” He replied. She nodded.

“Yes you are. You almost look like…”

“Don’t you dare say it if you know what’s good for you, red.”

“Angel!” He shook his head and closed his eyes. “Spike! Watch the road!” She squealed. He looked at her and smiled deviously.

“Scared pet?” He asked. She sighed.

“You did that on purpose!” Willow exclaimed.

“No not really but hey it’s fun to scare you. I have to do something with my free time.” He said. *I could think of other things you could do with your free time, and me* she thought. A blush crept into her cheeks again but this time she let the thoughts stay instead of chasing them away. The next thing she knew they were pulling up to the last address and saw that Angel had just arrived as well. *Why did we have to get here so fast?* she wondered.

“Why don’t you guys wait out here and we’ll go into this one?” Angel suggested to the girls. Cordelia and Willow nodded and watched the guys walk into the last shop. Cordelia sighed.

“Willow the bets off.” Cordelia said suddenly. Willow looked at Cordy.

“Are you serious?” She asked. Cordy nodded and to her surprise Willow jumped up and hugged her. “Thank you so much!” She squealed.

“Gee and I thought you’d be mad.” Cordelia said. Willow shook her head.

“No way I was trying to figure out a way to tell you the same thing.” She said. Both girls started laughing and then they heard a bang on the side of the building.

“Let’s go check it out.” Cordy said. Willow nodded and they headed to behind the building. At first neither saw anything because it was too dark. Another crash told them that was ever was near them had somehow gotten behind them. The next thing Willow knew there was a pair of hands around her throat. A strangled cry escaped her throat as Cordelia spun to look at her. Cordelia screamed as she saw the demon holding on to her friend.

“Willow! Stop!” The demon looked like something out of a horror movie. Horns protruded from his forehead and his flesh was green. His eyes were burning red. His skin was scaled and slimy. It was at least six feet tall and horns covered its back as well as its arms. His long finger nails held Willow tightly. If there was a devil Cordelia Chase knew she had just met him. Spike and Angel appeared from the back of the store. Angel was now holding a sword in his hand.

“Come on now can’t we work this out.” Angel said calmly. Spike growled as he felt his face morph into its vampire form.

“Hell with working it out, he has my Red by the throat.” Spike said menacingly advancing on the demon.

“Oh is this one yours?” The demon asked in a low throaty voice. Cordelia could swear it almost smiled. He held Willow and let his nails trail along her skin. “Then I’ll enjoy this kill all the more.” Spike growled.

“If she bleeds I’ll kill you.” He said. The demon did smiled.

“I bet you will.” He said. He raked his fingernails into Willow’s bare arm. She bit her lips trying not to cry out but tears streamed from her eyes as his nails burned into her as well as cutting her. By now Angel had edged his way almost behind the demon. Then Willow remembered a spell. She whispered it under her breath and suddenly she was the one burning. The demon screeched in pain, as her skin became too hot to touch. He let her go and Willow bolted towards Spike. Angel took the opportunity the stab it in the side with the sword.

“Stay back with Cordelia.” Spike said. Willow nodded and ran to Cordy. The demon turned to Angel and swiped at him with his claws. Angel jumped back but they still grazed his chest tearing his shirt and cutting him.

“Was that supposed to hurt?” Angel asked not phased by the cuts. The demon growled. Spike nodded to Angel.

“No mate you’re mine remember?” Spike asked. As the demon turned to Spike, Angel threw him the sword. Spike caught it and in one swift, elegant motion stabbed the demon in the heart. The demon looked at shock from the sword to Spike. “Told you I’d kill you, you bloody bastard.” Spike said just loud enough for the demon to hear him. Those were the last words the Todesfall ever heard. He clutched at the sword and then fell to the ground, engulfed in eternal darkness.

“Spike?” Willow called in a quietly frightened voice. He walked over to her and lifted her up off the ground where she had been huddling with Cordelia. Cordelia rushed over to Angel.

“Are you all right?” She asked. Angel nodded holding his chest.

“Yeah. It just stings a little.” He assured her. Spike looked at the three deep cuts on the red head’s arm.

“We need to get you home pet.” He told her. She nodded and gratefully accepted his embrace as he walked her to the car. Angel and Cordelia walked to their car and the demon lay on the ground forgotten by all gasping his last dying breath.

By the time Cordelia had bandaged Angel’s cuts they had all ready closed.

“Why do I even waste my time?” She muttered taping the last bandage on his skin. Angel smiled.

“Because you care?” He suggested. Cordy snorted.

“So you think.” She said. Angel smiled and took her hand. He kissed it softly.

“Thanks.” He said softly. Cordy nodded.

“Um yeah no problem.” She said blushing slightly. Angel was the only man she had ever met who had that effect on her. “You could’ve been killed out there you know.” She said cleaning up the first aid kit. Angel shrugged.

“All apart of my job description.” He said. Cordelia sighed.

“I’d ask the powers for a new job.” She told him. She sat beside him and hugged him. “I’m so scared you’ll go out there one day and just not come back.” She said. Angel held her tightly.

“I’ll always come back. I’ve got that whole human prophecy to go for remember?” He kissed the top of her head. “And I’ve got you.” Cordelia looked up at him surprised slightly by the statement.

“Really?” She asked. He nodded lifting her face to his.

“Yeah.” He said. His lips captured hers in a tender kiss.

Spike watched Willow try to bandage her arm from the doorway. He walked in and sat beside her.

“Here let me red.” He said taking the bandage from her. She nodded.

“Thanks.” She said. He carefully wrapped the bandage around her arm.

“No problem.” He said. He finished wrapping her arm and his hand trailed over her skin. “You all right pet?” He asked. Willow nodded.

“I’ll be fine. I’ll just cast a healing spell and be fixed in no time.” She said lightly. His fingers caressed her cheek. She suddenly threw her arms around his neck hugging him. He wrapped his arms around her. “Did you really get that angry because of me?” She asked.

“Well I really didn’t fancy you getting killed red.” Spike told her. She smiled and looked at him.

“Thank you.” She said.

“Anytime. Just don’t go throwing yourself into another demons arms any time too soon.” He told her. She giggled.

“Even your arms?” Willow asked innocently batting her eyes.

“Now I didn’t mean it like that.” Spike assured her. For a moment there was silence. Then he put his hand on her neck and pulled her toward him for a kiss. His lips met hers and Willow lost herself in his arms.
