Submissions

Rhonda Wilcox and David Lavery, the editors of Fighting the Forces: What's at Stake in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, solicit your possible contributions to Slayage, a refereed, electronic journal. Go here to see our editorial board. Once the editors assess a completed essay as appropriate for review, then double blind review by at least two members of the editorial board will decide which essays are to be published. Please be sure to include your name and email address at the top of the essay itself, for the convenience of the editors’ record-keeping; the editors will make sure to remove the author’s name and email address before sending the essay to reviewers.

If you are an undergraduate student, please submit your essay to Watcher Junior: The Undergraduate Journal of Buffy Studies. Go here to learn how.

We welcome proposals (including at least a full paragraph description of your essay and a title) or completed essays on any aspect of BtVS. All proposals/essays should exhibit strong familiarity with already published BtVS scholarship (in Fighting the Forces, in Reading the Vampire Slayer, in Slayage, and in the many published books). The editors accept articles with a variety of documentation styles reflecting the varieties of disciplines discussed here. However, for the convenience and edification of readers, all submissions should include a list of Works Cited and be sure to identify the documentation style you are using (MLA, Turabian, APA, etc.)

Submit your essays electronically as an e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word or in Rich Text Format (.rtf). Be sure to number your paragraphs in the text you submit. (Go here to see an example of what we mean.) Send it simultaneously to David Lavery at david.lavery@gmail.com and Rhonda Wilcox at rhonda_w@gdn.edu.

We are open to all kinds of ideas on any aspect of the series and/or its television context.  Note: we welcome essays concerned with Angel and Firefly/Serenity as well.
