Blue Glove 2 The Hands of Blue are Alliance agents, distinctive in that they wear blue latex gloves, hence the name, and carry handy little sticks that, on activation, cause anyone not wearing blue latex gloves to die quickly, painfully and seemingly from some sort of brain haemorrhage . These particular two, affectionately known as Blue Glove #1 and #2, are assigned to try and recover the Fugitive River Tam.

They almost catch up with their prey on Ariel when Jayne betrays them, believing he will get a reward, but despite killing anyone who gets in their way (after gathering as much information from them as they can) the Hands of Blue find that she has escaped their clutches in the nick of time.

Survivor They were travelling to Newhall to make a new life for themselves when their ship was hit by reavers. He was forced to watch as the savages, raped and butchered his family and friends and then, when the reavers finally left he could do nothing but re-live the pain and the torture over and over, a survivor in name only. By the time Mal and the crew of Serenity come across the ship he had already lost his mind. Weak with malnutrition and dehydration he tries to attack Jayne, and receives a bullet wound for his pains. The trail of blood leads to his hiding place and Mal soon has him unconscious and on board Serenity where Simon does the best he can for him.

While the crew are boarded by the Alliance, the survivor finds a knife in the infirmary and mutilates himself, becoming the savage that is all he now knows. Fortunately his time as a reaver is short, as the body count rises, Mal realises what has happened and, knowing he will return to familiar ground, finds him on Serenity and kills him

Commander Harken On his first time out on the rim, Commander Harken comes across Serenity apparently illegally salvaging goods from a deserted transport ship. On discovering that there was an alert on a Firefly-class ship believed to be carrying two fugitives, he decides he is taking no chances he boards Serenity and, takes our crew into custody. Interviewing each one in turn, he gains very little knowledge and a thorough search of the ship does not lead to the discovery of the fugitives.

Having searched the derelict transport ship and discovered the bodies of the crew, as well as the man Mal and co have rescued from the ship, Harken comes to the conclusion that Mal attacked and killed the crew. Not believing Mal's story about the Reavers he is about to have Mal transported to the prison ship when he learns that the survivor has gotten loose. Mal persuades Harken to let him help find the survivor and when Mal saves his life, Harken feels obliged to let Mal and his crew go. Of course he relieves them of their salvaged cargo first.
