- Bottom to Top: The BUFFY Episode Countdown
Ok, so this will probably be the most controversial one ever. I loves me some
irritation.
Well, there are two ultra-annoying things about this episode. 1) The introduction of Adam. "Mommy" and
all that. 2) Maggie trying to kill Buffy, which wasn't all that horrible, as much as just really stupid.
Like Buffy says, "You think that's enough to kill a slayer. You really don't know what a slayer is." I mean
two day-player demons ain't gonna cut it, Mags. You silly.
Ah, who ordered one totally overrated episode? Anyone? Anyone? You got it with this one, written by you
know who, and you can easily tell. I don't know what it is, but there's really nothing special about this. Giles
thinks the poltergeist is Jenny, because he's kind of blind out of sadness. Buffy and Angelus are endrenched
in the poltergeist's death scene and become the lovers. Buffy shoots Angelus, and because Angelus is a vampire,
the curse on the school is lifted...he can't die from a gunshot. Brilliant, if not totally obvious where
they were going with that. I pick the obvious.
So everyone kicks Buffy out of the house. No doubt she was acting all superior, but last I checked she
owned the house. Dawn telling Buffy to leave is just ridiculous on so many levels. Not to mention the
fact that people like Willow and Xander agreed....which is really out of character. Xander especially
would not have left Buffy hanging in that situation. When we get to End of Days everything is right with
the world once again. And I'm like, "What the hell just happened?" Forgive and Forget so quickly? Oh, that's
right, we only have two episodes left. Yeesh.
Riley decides to become a rebel. Yeah, I laughed at that sentence too. Not much to say about this episode,
mainly because it's such a boring storyline. Buffy and Xander get to dress up, so there's one plus I guess. Let's
move on, please.
Oh yes, it's this low. Why? Because of that HORRIFIC ending. This is a Joss-written episode. With the exception
of maybe "Lessons", it could be his worst. We get our first glimpse of The First Evil, which ain't bad,
but the ending feels like "Oh shit, we ran ourselves into a wall. Hey, how's about we have it snow so
that the sun can't come out??! BRILLIANT!" C'mon people. Sure, we get funny lines from Xander and Willow,
and some Giles with his crossbow threatening Angel (which, hey, he looks mightily scared, except not). It's
JUST THAT ENDING that bugs the hell out of me, making me realize this is probably the most overrated episode
of all-time.
Atalanta: I'd have put Amends a bit higher, but the rest of this list is OK. UnpluggedCrazy: Well, you were right about the controversy. I really liked all of those episodes, and I thought that Amends was as good as it was BECAUSE of the ending. It's not like it's one of the best episodes ever, and it's one of the few Joss-penned eps that isn't all drool-worthy, but it was good. And I Only Have Eyes for You and Empty Places rock, damn it. Lurker: this is the wordt list i've ever have seen in my entire life
- I Only Have Eys for you and Amends are 2 of the best episodes EVER
- the others rock two angelus: oh, no you didnt! 'i only have eyes for you' - is without a doubt in my top 10 favorite episodes. i cant help it - i worship marti noxon. and thats *because* of this episode. its beautiful and poignant, and gile's blindness is just painful to watch. i have to defend it. The First: The Stupid, Stupid Deux Ex Machina Snow. Agree with you, the whole episode is good until Buffy casually wears a huge winter coat. And Empty Places was SO out of character, it's not even funny anymore. And Goodbye Iowa was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... sam: uhm, into missing subtleties much? imho, there was more to amends than you give it credit for. iohefy wasn't *that* obvious. but i didn't need the rehash when we got the exact same plot with the ballet episode on angel. once was enough! jo: IOHEFY and Amends should be higher, dammit!! *sigh* Oh well. I'll just make my own list. :P Noell: and ur all nuts, I Only Have Eyes for u rocked, and the Amends flashbacks of a drunk Liam were great Noell: YEAH GO FLASHBACK!!! BtVSFan: Why is "Normal Again" higher than anything. That is the worst episode ever. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and is not nearly as clever as it thinks it is. Rosanne anyone?
