February 20, 2004ATS: Pandora's 'Underneath' Summary
Pandora, of the Mythical Boards, has again come through and delivered a summary for Angel: Underneath (5.17). Be sure to check out the site for the full summary (registration required). I'll touch on the highlights of the episode below. Highlights of 'Underneath'Once again, fills in many of the details for the sketchy information we had earlier. While I had Trish and Zach pegged as spirits, it appears that they are more guardians. Which was the general feel I got from the info I had, but a lot of it was open to interpretation. I also did not expect to see Gunn remain in the alternate dimension, I was figuring that after gathering info from Lindsey, they would return him. Also, Wes and Illyria are pretty much relegated to the back story in this episode. I wish we would see more of them, especially since rather than wrapping up storylines, they really are quite open. It's possible some of the Illyria information may not be included in the summary. Like the information about Buffy and Spike's request to Andrew in 'Damage' were not included in that summary, but I had discussed those spoilers before the summary was posted. With the next episode dealing with Connor, it's going to be interesting how these stories continue. Will Lindsey and Eve be fighting alongside Angel now? It doesn't make sense seeing as Angel is still going to be running Wolfram and Hart. Maybe the Senior Partners don't care, or maybe it's just another part of the puzzle yet to be revealed. Will Illyria's story be on the back burner, as the Connor/Sahjahn story kicks off, or will she be another piece in the puzzle. Did Wolfram and Hart underestimate Angel, and expect him to save Fred? Thereby infecting millions of people with Illyria's evil essence. Did this plan backfire, or was this their goal? Most importantly, will this be the end of Gunn? David has mentioned in a recent interview that there would be a surprising cast change, but with the series ending, it would be a shame to see this as being the end of Gunn. Hopefully, as the time for this episode to air approaches, we should get more information. Thanks to Pandora for yet another much-appreciated summary.
