Ack!

Angel raised his hand to knock on the Rebecca's door. He had an uncontrollable urge for coffee that he could neither explain nor fight. A shriek came from behind the closed door, and he decided to forgo knocking. He burst through the doorway, fists raised, ready to beat whatever threat existed into submission.

As he scanned the apartment for vampires, his gaze fell on Rebecca who was sitting at the computer.

"Where are the vampires?" he demanded.

"Um..." she said, giving him her *you're an idiot* look. "You're standing right there."

"No," he said annoyed. "The other vampires."

"Like I'm going to invite random vampires into my house?" Rebecca said disdainfully.

"Then why were you screaming?" Angel asked, lowering his fists

"Oh," said Rebecca with a laugh. "That was just a random, panic shriek. You know one of those shrieks you let loose when you're feeling..."

"Why?" Angel interrupted.

"Oh. Well, because I'm swamped." Rebecca answered. "I was feeling the pressure..realizing just how much I have to do..being buried under an avalanche of things to do and..."

"Right," Angel interrupted again. "What are you so busy with anyway? You aren't in school and you aren't working."

"Yeah," Rebecca answered. "But I'm trying to write my own story while maintaining a bunch of archives..." Angel looked at her skeptically. "It's a lot of pressure," she protested. "If you ever tried it I bet you wouldn't be able to handle it."

"Oh yeah right" Angel sneered. "Some of us don't have the problems with procrastination that you do."

"Oh really?" Rebecca asked. "You think you could do better? You think you could maintain Jenni's archive, Dare's archive, the Becoming archive and the rest of The Buffer better than I can?!" Her voice started to rise in anger, and in panic as she was reminded of how far behind she was.

"Well, yeah," Angel confirmed. "It doesn't sound that hard to me." Rebecca considered briefly whether to hit him. Nah, she finally decided. Hitting the 242 year old vampire probably wouldn't be a good idea. It was a tempting thought though.

"Fine," she said. "You maintain it for a week, and we'll see if you're still sane at the end of that length of time."

"No problem," Angel answered with a confidant grin. "And that'll give you time to work on the sequel to The Morning After." Rebecca looked at the over-confident vampire and felt a surge of pity. He had no idea what he was getting into.

"Tell you what," she said. "I'll make it a little easier for you. I'll ask the authors on the Buffy-beta list to put it in their disclaimers when I have permission to put their stories in the Becoming archive." Angel looked at her blankly. "So you don't have to e-mail them for permission," Rebecca explained. "And by the way...the story's called High Noon."

"Ok, great," Angel said, cracking his knuckles. "This is going to be a piece of cake." He motioned for Rebecca to relinquish her seat at the computer and sat down in front of the glowing screen. "Now what's this HTML stuff I've heard about?" he asked. Rebecca screamed, bounced a pillow off his head, and ran for the bathroom, hiding there until the growling stopped.

end

As usual..you can ignore the actual point of the story. These things only apply to the people on the Buffy-beta list
