Contests
So its a new year, a new site and in recognition of that I thought I would start up a contest section. My thanks to Shadow for coming up with the fanfiction theme. To start with I thought we would have two contests, in the nature of the duality of the site. A story and an art contest.
Fanfiction
Theme:
New Beginnings. At some point in the story something integral to the story has to be brand new. It can't be that the person gets a new shirt or dress or something. Nor can it be that a new season of something on tv is starting. If it is something like that then it better be the focus of the story; i.e. the new shirt has to signify something, like the start of a new direction in life. All entries should be submitted Here, with contest as the subject.
Rules:
1) We're all adults, so there will be no true limitations of what can and can't be written about. If there are children, it better be g-rated. There can be sex and violence, but please don't let it be gratuitous. Those judged to have gratuitous pornographic sex or sexual violence may have their pieces disqualified. This isn't really likely to happen, but you have been warned.
2)
Stories should be a min of 2,000 words and a max of 20,000.
3)All entries are to be anonymous. Please do not include your name in the story. Put your name on the email entry only. I will be hosting the stories, and I ask that until the contest is done, do not put them up anywhere else and please do not tell anyone which entry is yours to influence votes.
4)The contest will last till March 31st. All entrys must be in by midnight eastern time.(GMT -5)
5)For the Fan Favorite section no anime entries will be accepted.
6)Entries should be submitted in either txt, html or doc format.
7)If there are any questions about the rules then please feel free to contact me. I do not believe there are any loopholes, as its a pretty broad contest, but I reserve the right to add more rules at a later date.
Winners:
There will be two winners, one voted for by the readers, another voted for by three esteemed judges. All entrys will be automatically included in the Fan Favorite section. If you want your story included in the Judges Choice section, please include that in your entry. All decisions are final.
1)Fan Favorite: For the fan favorite section entrys can be any type of fiction including fanfiction.
2)Judges Choice: For the judges choice section all entrys MUST be original. NO fanfiction of any kind. Entries will be judged on originality, cohesiveness, character
portrayal, and plot integrity. While spelling, grammar and punctuation
problems will not disqualify an individual piece, it will make the
story harder to read, thereby generally lowering the overall effect and
score.
Judging:
A poll will be set up on April 1st and will be open for 1 week for the Fan favorite section. Judging for the Judges Choice section will also start on the first. Winners will be announced as soon as possible.
Prize
Each winner will be able to choose two titles from the list. They will also recieve a customized award and, if possible, a cover graphic for their peice. Also as much pimping on my site as I can figure out how to do :).
Fan Art
Theme:
New Love. Using any show or movie, show me the moment that two characters who are in love meet . I want to see the emotion come across in your work. For example, did they love each other at first sight? Hate each other? That should be demonstrated in the wall. The couple must be cannon. So Tara and Willow is fine, but Buffy and Faith is not. And yes I accept Xena and Gabrielle as cannon. All entries should be submitted Here, with contest as the subject.
Rules:
1) The wallpaper has to be either 800x600 or 1024x768. Please try to keep them below 250kb, but that is not mandatory.
2) This contest is not anonymous, so feel free to include your signature. I am willing to host all graphics, but if you want to host it yourself then send me the link.
