Episode Summaries

For those of you who are as spoiler-whorish as I am, I am posting complete summaries of what I know about the episodes. I'm making these into links so that those who do not want to be spoiled that much can just pass them by.

Episode 11

Episode 12

Latest Rumors:

Posted by David Fury on the BronzeBeta on 12-6-01

Whimm - No. It's very well lit and Buffy's not wearing a stitch.

Sarah's carl -- We'll wrap with episode 14 before the holidays. Then Doug Petrie directs ep. 15 when we get back.

Oh, Buffy very naked in my episode. Full frontal.

Mustard Guy - The question is will YOU be happy with the ep. I've written and (in 90 minutes) will finish directing. It's a rompy little trifle, something I suspect will not be liked in certain circles.
But there is naked Spike, I can promise you that.

As her fling with Spike becomes much more consuming, Buffy withdraws from her friends. No one really understands why so Willow does a spell to find out what's wrong with her. However, the spell also affects Dawn (because she is also part of "Buffy's blood"). The two of them begin to spill out "truths": Buffy tells Dawn she isn't real and that she probably has blue energy in her veins instead of blood. After Dawn smacks her, Buffy almost tries to kill her, but Willow breaks the spell before anything more happens.

Willow Spoilage
Willow becomes so corrupted with power, she turns to evil. However, her descent into darkness may be the result of the death of a loved one.
Willow casts a spell to try to help Buffy's depression.
The troika tries to woo Willow by using her computer nerdiness and not her magic spills. She will eventually lead them after Buffy kicks her out of the house.

Spike Spoilage
Spike begins to fill the "Watcher" role in Buffy's life, among others.
After Buffy tries to call it quits with him, Spike does something pretty nasty that affects Xander's future.
Spike throws Xander a bachelor party.

Dawn Spoilage
Dawn is affected by Willow's spell on Buffy and begins to spill out truths. She reveals that she wished Buffy had not come back because she's "not the same". It ends with Dawn cracking Buffy across the face. Tara Spoilage
Tara will continue to play a role in Dawn's life.

Giles Spoilage
It is unknown if Giles will return anytime else for the rest of the season.

Guest Stars Spoilage
Look for Warren to do something really evil in Episode 16.

Originally slated to return in Episode 11, Riley Finn (Marc Blucas) is supposed to return for Xander and Anya's wedding. He learns of Buffy and Spike's special relationship and is very unhappy.

D'Hoffyrn will return during February sweeps.

Couples Spoilage

Buffy and Spike will continue to mess around, at least until February sweeps.
Xander and Anya begin to prepare for their upcoming wedding, but whether or not they actually get married has yet to be seen/decided.

Gone
* Ep: 11. Writer: David Fury.
* NEW! Buffy is accidentally turned invisible by the supervillains and a new toy of theirs.
* NEW! Buffy takes advantage of her new situation by paying Spike a visit and messing with [deserving] people.
* NEW! A lot of Xander as he confronts Willow, discovers Spike post-Invisible Buffy events, and spends some quality time bickering with his fiance. (Spike may not really be alone when Xander finds him...)

Doublemeat Palace
* Ep: 12. Writer: Jane Espenson. (This info was "prior to filming" info, which is subject to change on the set/cutting room.)
* NEW! With the super villains mysteriously "gone", the show returns to a good monster-of-the-week episode. And the hero of the episode? Not Buffy.
* UPDATED Buffy gets a job in fast food (hence the title), and when co-workers start ending up in pieces, the mystery behind the meat comes into question.
* UPDATED Willow works on staying clear of magic, but Amy gives her an unwanted gift and Willow is forced to make a big decision.
* UPDATED Buffy tries to ignore the temptation that is Spike, but fails. A little sexual taunting and innuendo turns into much more.

"Is Doublemeat Palace dramatic or comedic in tone?
Little of both. There's plenty of humor surrounding the food joint, but a lot of drama too.

Is Buffy having money problems again?
She never stopped having money problems. She needs a steady intake of money and finally tries to get a job that will *last*.

Is Buffy wrong about what is going into the meat?
Yeah, she jumps to a conclusion, but is told otherwise in the end.

Does Spike come in as a customer and give her a hard time?
Basically yeah, he comes in asking for "service." There's a lot of different elements to it.

How long will Buffy keep the job in fast food? I'm hoping it's a one episode deal.
She needs the job and knows it. She does what she can to keep it."

"As far as Spike's scenes, I summed it up quite simply in the spoiler. There's bantering, sexual innuendo and sex. Two scenes, one of which he doesn't even talk."

http://www.geocities.com/angelicdevils666/main.html

Exclusive to JLNG, Juliet revealed she has been in discussions with Joss Whedon and Marti Noxon to return to the Buffy/Angel world!

After some fan complaints that Drusilla was under-used on last season's Angel, considering the character's blood-soaked and immensely tragic history, hopes are high that future storylines will let Dru's true characteristic potential shine this time around.

The major stuff my source told me is that Xander fails to show up at his
wedding due to cold feet and then shows up later claiming that he was
kidnapped. Anya turns into a vengeance demon again because of this and
plans to lay the vengeance all over him, but at the last minute she realizes
she still loves him and can't do it. They stay together but don't actually
get married (it's open for them to marry later). No word on whether Anya
retains her demony powers.

My source didn't have definite info, but he was under the impression that
Buffy and Spike would at least remain demon-fighting partners, so it didn't
seem that Spike was going to go evil. He hadn't been told much about the
'ship, though he wasn't under the impression that they were going to
definitely say Spike was the long haul guy or anything (at least not yet).
Also, Spike is not scheduled to die.

I asked about the "Asylum" rumors and the source said yes, they changed
their minds after making up the original plan for the season. The planned
character death is still presumably on though.

Would you mind clarifying some of the Spike stuff? Thanks
--But I really don't know as much about this episode as I do about "Doublemeat..." He has a few scenes, but I don't have enough information about them to really say much more than I have. Sorry.

I had just heard the rumor Spike has another girlfriend this season and though I assumed "Spike might not be alone) means Buffy is there it did occur to me Xan might find him with another woman.
--It's Buffy. Xander assumes Spike is alone, but since Buffy's invisible... it's easy to come to that conclusion. -- I didn't have complete confirmation that Buffy is actually there (although all signs point to yes) so that's why I said it both ways just in case.

About the B/S relationship. Will it still be Buffy taking the initiative or is Spike a bit more demanding this time?
--Buffy initiates it, obviously, because of the whole "Buffy being invisible" thing, but I don't know what the interplay is like between them. I'm assuming whatever it is ends on semi-okay terms because of the context of "Doublemeat..." but again, I don't know for sure.

just wondering if there was a reason for the invisibility. Not on the show, but for Sarah. eg They turned her into a rat to make her available for SNL during BBB's shoot. So I'm just wondering, is Sarah still in this episode? For how long? Did she need time off for something?
--I don't know if it was because of her or not... plot wise, it makes quite a bit of sense and progresses the story in an interesting direction.

Sarah does have a good role in the episode, despite the invisibility...and when she is visible, she goes through some "changes". What kind of 'changes?'
--I don't know the specifics yet, so I'm not gonna say until later, but the change is somewhat physical.

AngelX, can you tell me if Spike's "invisible Buffy events" are just a bit of teasing and tormenting or if we get Spike/Invisible-Buffy sex?
--I honestly don't know. Based on comments from David Fury (the writer) and the condition of the crypt when Xander finds it, I would assume there was sex involved, but I can't say for sure. I don't have info that says one way or another.

Can you tell us which "circle" Fury was referring to when he said this ep wouldn't be liked in some circles? Or was he just trying to stir the pot?
--I can't speak for him. He may be referring to B/S fans because of the whole potential for sex without actual visible sex, or sex for those who don't want *any* sex, or there may be something else he was talking about. I don't know all the ep's details and it takes a whole lot for an ep to offend or dissapoint me, so I personally wouldn't be a good judge of what will and won't upset people.

AnGelX is the epi pretty lighthearted over all?
--Everything I have indicates a very lighthearted ep. Lots of comedy and stress release for Buffy (granted, there's stressful reasons for her to need it) but it should be lots of funny.

Ep. 11: Gone
Written/Directed by David Fury

Seems like the nerds have an invisibility gun or something. It's listed in the special effects. They all become invisible, I think. There is reference to Invisible Andrew, for example, in the SFX section of the call sheet.
The other scene has this description: "Invisible Buffy goes to rescue Willow at arcade."

Ep. 12: Doublemeat Palace
Written by Jane Espenson
Directed by Nick Marck

Buffy has a job at the Doublemeat Palace. This seems to be really played for jabs at the fast food industry and its high employee turnover. Buffy finds a finger and thinks it's that of her co-worker, who's suddenly stopped working there. She calls a meeting to which no shows except Xander and Dawn. X/D are playing cards. Willow hasn't shown. Anya is in the back talking with her old friend, Halfrek, a vengeance demon who seems to be acting like a premarital counselor. I mean, s/he's really playing the whole therapy game, answering questions with questions.

H: "So, he corrects you."
A: "Well, it's just ... I'm all confused. Do you think there's something wrong with how he treats me?"
H: "Do you?"

Anyway, in a funny scene, Buffy comes in with a Doublemeat Burger and claims that Dm burgers are made of people and this is horrible yadda yadda she's going to bring them down. Meanwhile, Xander has eaten the burger while Buffy's been ranting. Later, Willow shows up. She's been doing something .... not sure what. She's jittery and filled with power. She seems to have given up magic and plans to use science to help the Scoobies. But ...

"Willow grabs a pencil off the table. She gasps at the surge of power. The pencil DROOPS in her hand like a cooked noodle. She looks around... no one saw. She hides it."

Buffy goes to the DmP after dark to sneak/look around. It's all creepy etc. Played for horror. Lots of stage direction, like "she sticks her head in the meat grinder--anyone could push her in...."

I was just looking at the call sheets, and there is very minor info at the bottoms of each. They tell what scenes are going to be filmed in the upcoming days. It looks like there's a scene in the first act of "Gone" where Buffy is at a hair salon. A few scenes later Invisible Buffy is at a Social Services office with some non-regular cast members. There's another scene where Willow is outside Warren's house, later in the ep (scene 25). And a couple of scenes earlier, Invisible Buffy is on the street.

See a location shooting report of these two latter scenes here.

The following day involved location shooting in Torrance. Daytime exterior location shooting. Buffy, Xander, Willow, Troika, scenes 10 and 16. Scene 14 is Invisible Buffy in a park somewhere along with assorted non-regulars.

For Doublemeat Palace: JM did his filming on Nov. 26 (Mon). His scenes are:
Scene 12: Int. Doublemeat, Counter.
Scene 19 and 13, Ext. Doublemeat Palace.
That's about 3 pages worth of script.

Posted by Wanda on E!Online on 12-10-01

Jess asks: How come "Tara" STILL isn't in the opening credits of Buffy?
Wanda replies: She STILL isn't a series regular. And sadly, I'm told there's no talk of making her one.

kashtex asks: What's gonna happen with Angel's baby???
Wanda replies: Now that Darla's dusted, Angel (and the rest of the now babysitting team) is going to struggle big time with taking care of the baby while still managing to make money somehow.

Crystal asks: What do you think about David Boreanaz Interviews in which he "Slams" the B/A Relationship & Crossovers. With BtVS & Angel
Wanda replies: It's all the PR machine, babe. And whole vat of bad blood (understandably) between the networks. So, I wouldn't expect another B/A crossover anytime soon -- certainly not this season.

angellvr12 asks: Any love in the air for Angel?
Wanda replies: Yes. I FINALLY have clearance to tell you now. (wheee!) Very soon, Angel and Cordelia will start to dabble in a bonafide fling – although not at the level of Buffy and Spike's groundbreaking bootyshaking. Meanwhile, Wesley and Gunn will have their own respective crushes (respective, as in not with each other, capice?)

spikerocks asks: Wanda, will Angel hook up with Cordy?
Wanda replies: That's what I meant by "fling." It just won't be hard-core like Buffy/Spike.

Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:

After quite the spoiler drought, then a period of "foilers"--those wonderful fanfics disguised as spoilers--we finally have some honest-to-goodness spoilage to gnaw over. I've also re-introduced the episode summaries to compile what is known about the episodes.

AngelX's info is, as always, credible and reliable, plus I have additional information culled from call sheets for one day's filming each of "Gone" and "Doublemeat Palace" as well as the sides (script portions) for one day's worth of filming "Doublemeat Palace." I consider AngelX's and my information confirmed.

XG's spoilers are, as always, iffy. She may have hit a few ones correctly, but I am highly skeptical about most of them. But as her spoiler disclaimer says, she doesn't really know whether her spoilers are correct or not. She seems to post anything and everything as if it is true. Personally, I find this behavior irresponsible, but I can't exactly stop it.

Anonymous's spoilers confirm others I've heard and suggest that the storyline originally planned for Xander/Anya and reported by Herc on July 4 are true, despite the obvious changes to the "asylum" episode idea. It's also reassuring to know that Spike is not going to do anything irredeemably bad any time soon.

And finally, I am going to reveal that I am pretty sure which character will die this season, as reported by Herc on September 18. But I'm not going to tell you on this page. You have to click here.
