From loodyblues: Any word on the fate of Buffy?
Yay, loody! Been looking for this Q. I've heard producers have approached Eliza Dushku about a Faith spinoff, but she hasn't yet decided whether she wants to do it. I visited the Angel set on Friday--the entire cast was there, including Alyson Hannigan, who's guesting on an upcoming ep--but wasn't able to talk to Eliza about the haps. So we have to hold our breath and wait for the outcome. But I do believe Buffy as we know it is coming to an end.

From anniegetgun: Alyson Hannigan guests on Angel? What's going to happen?
The episode looks amazing--lots of yummy surprises. Fred calls Willow, asking for her help in turning Angelus back into Angel, after they resurrect him in an effort to beat the Beast. Willow comes to L.A., has some chummy scenes with Fred and even a scene with real-life hubby-to-be Wesley (Alexis Denisof), and at the end of her stint, she returns to Sunnydale with Faith in tow. That's the end of Eliza Dushku's three-ep arc on Angel and begins her five-ep arc on Buffy.

From nodowtgirl: What's to come for the Scoobies?
Willow's going to get some lip lovin' from Kennedy, but it has a somewhat Angel-ic effect on her: Willow turns into Warren. From faith85: What do you know about Faith on Buffy and Angel?
She breaks out of jail, fights Connor and gets a serious whupin' of her own.

From the_groosalugg: I'm dying for more Buffy/Angel news.
I have so many goodies and quotes to share (Q & A's with Alyson, Alexis, David, Eliza), that it's going to have to wait until a column with proper space. But the good thing is that they all seemed very much open to a big-bang, last-hurrah crossover for the Buffy finale--so much so, that I'm startin' to suspect it's already in the works.

From kattleya: The networks are actually allowing a Buffy/Angel crossover? What does Willow do in L.A.?
Brings you hope for the future (finale), does it not? She does a spell that restores Angel to his non-fangy self.

From brizz: Any news on possible Buffy returners? Amy Madison, Jenny Calendar, Harmony Kendall, Ethan Rayne, Drusilla--or...Riley Finn?
There's be a phone call to Riley, but it's not he who comes to the rescue...it's other members of The Initiative.

From reginafilangie: What do you mean by chummy stuff happening with Willow and Fred?
Not that kind of chummy! Just bonding over metaphysical mumbo jumbo. Fred has her hands full, dealing with a jealous Gunn and increasingly woo-y Wesley.

Buffy Location Shoot Report
January 27, 2003
Submitted By: Faith_Forever

Today they were filming a daytime location shoot at the house in Torrance used as the Summers' residence. All of the filming took place in the backyard, so you couldn’t see or hear much of what was going on.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, DB Woodside were there, along with all of the main Potentials (Iyari Limon, Indigo, Lalaine, Clara Bryant, Felicia Day, Sarah Hagan, and the actress playing new SIT Chao-Ahn) and about 10 extras playing Potentials.

SMG was wearing a jean shirt (or jacket) and a long, black skirt. Aly had on a long-sleeved orange print shirt and reddish jeans. D.B. had on a very sharp looking suit. All of the Potentials were wearing workout type clothing.

In the backyard, there were some archery targets set up on bails of hay. There was also a large assortment of weapons (swords, crossbows, maces).

Most of the time SMG, Aly & DB were in the back filming. The Potentials were all waiting to film in the front yard. (Oddly enough, a lot of them were passing the time waiting by knitting).

The final scene filmed was with all of the Potentials. It seemed like Kennedy was leading a martial arts type class. All of the Potentials were lined up in several rows. It sounded like Iyari shouting out instructions as they went through a series of blocks, punches, strikes, ect.

Lalaine (who plays Chloe) mentioned that they had her doing about 50 pushups.

Only two of the Potentials extras were needed to film in the studio tomorrow. The other extras weren't sure how long they would be on the show for. During lunch, a group of the extra playing Potentials were playing football in the street with some crew members and fans, and showed off some real athletic talent.

All of the actresses playing the Potentials were incredibly nice and a little awestruck at the fairly large group of onlookers wanting autographs. Alyson Hannigan also came over to sign autographs and to pose for pictures with fans.

BTW, Iyari mentioned to some fans as she left that she actually had with her the script for Episode 17. (And her name is pronouced ee-yah-dee, yup- that's a "d".)

Willow goes to Buffy's room. Buffy lies in bed, wide awake, Willow comes in and sits at the edge of Buffy's bed. Buffy thanks her for bringing her back from where-ever-she-was in the past. Willow says it's "what I do." They quietly nod to each other, nothing left to say.

Willow starts to get up to leave, but Buffy stops her. Buffy takes a moment, then asks her "How will I save the world now?" Willow tells her the "usual" way. Buffy tells her "not this time", and tells her that the "Shadow Men" showed her, and that it "isn't enough."
Willow asks what they showed her...they lock eyes.
We see a vast sea of UBER VAMPS!!! An army of them.
Sunnydale is in flames.

Buffy approches the three Shadow Men, who stop chanting as she draws near. She starts to introduce herself, but the cut her short, telling her that they "know who you are." They are speaking in Swahili (everythings subtitled for us), yet Buffy can understand them, to her amazement. They go on to say that they've been around since the beginning, and that now, "we are almost at the end." Buffy asks what we're at the end of, and they go on. They tell her that she is the Hellmouth's last gaurdian, but Buffy corrects them, "Latest." They tell her "no." Buffy then decides it's time to get to the point. She tells them she came there to learn. But the Shadow Men say that they have no knowledge to give, "only power."

Buffy had just finished burying Chole's body. EVERYONE'S in the living room crying and comforting each other. Buffy asks if anyone would like to say a few words about Chole. Silence. She then says she will then. "Chole was an idiot," she starts out, and goes on to say that she was stupid and weak. Buffy continues by saying that she's the one with the power and that she's been carrying them. "Rides over."

Kennedy tells Buffy that she's "out of line", but Buffy tells her she's wrong. Buffy then snaps at Xander, and then turns on Anya. She tells her that she's welcome to be as scared as she like so long as she's being "useful while your at it."

Spike gets up and starts to leave, and Buffy asks him where he's going. "Out", he says, since he doesn't feel what she's saying applies to him. Buffy tells him to take a cell phone with him... in case she needs someone to "get weepy or wailed on."

This makes Spike fume. She goes on to say that he's been "holding back" since he got his soul back. He admits that he's just not "relishing the kill" like he did. She says she what she wants is the "dangerous" Spike, "the one who tryed to kill me,".
Spike is ticked! He tells her that she's doesnt know how close she is to bringing the old Spike out. Buffy says, "I'm nowhere near him."

Chloe IS in the episode before her death. We first see her huddled up and crying in the opening teaser, which turns out to be one of Buffy's dreams/visions. The next time we see her is with the other SITs being lead through drills by Kennedy. She's struggling a bit, so Kennedy comes down HARD on her...calls her a "maggot."

It's at the end of Act One that Buffy is chatting with Dawn when she opens the bathroom door and finds Chloe hanging from the ceiling by a twisted sheet. She's long dead. Kennedy, Amanda and Rona then rush onto the scene, after hearing Dawn scream.
Buffy tells Dawn to get a knife. It's then that The First/Chloe appears. We find out that it was up talking to Chloe all night.

(on the Anya/Spike scene): Well, there's really not a bar scene. They are walking to the bar. Anya is complaining about being human and is doing most of the talking. Anya then starts to question Spikes motives for having her along, but Spike assures her that he's "just out for the alcohol." Anya then starts to hit on Spike a little bit, because Buffy hasn't been "sending any your way lately so I just thought..." Just then, a demon jumps out of nowhere and attacks Anya. Spike pins the demon, knees him in the groin, grabs Anya and runs.

Of the staff here, I seem to be the one least familiar with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." My wife is a fanatic of the show, which is not a bad thing by any means. Together we have all three seasons released on DVD thus far, the "Buffy" board game, the "Buffy" XBox game (we bought the system just so she could have this game), a truckload of "Buffy" books, every "Buffy" comic made... she even put a Buffy and Angel litho over our bed! But she's in court all day today, so I couldn't rely on her expertise. Amy, our resident television commentator and a righteous "Buffy" fan in her own right, is also out of commission for the day. But when we get info this good from our trusted casting sources, we don't want to hold it. The fans must be told.

In the upcoming 17th episode, called "Mothers and Sons," Principal Robin Wood goes vampire hunting, in search of Spike, the vampire who killed his mother (revealed two episodes before this). You might remember her. Nicki, the Foxy Brown-looking Slayer from the East Village that Spike took out in episode 5.7, "Fool For Love." As Wood hunts for Spike, he flashes back to 1977. He remembers a time when he was four years old, hiding behind a park bench in Central Park, watching with wide eyes as his mother fights to a truce against Spike. As the episode progresses, Wood will continue to go back to his childhood and remember his mother.

Wood is not the only one doing some reminiscing. The hunted, Spike, also flashes back to an earlier time with his mother, Constance. Seen in 1880, Constance is a frail, sickly woman in her 50s with a kind and gentle spirit, who dotes on her son’s lame poetry and showers him with her loving pride. It is during this time that Drusilla turned Spike into a vampire, although it's not yet clear if we will see a repeat of this part of his history in this flashback. One of the first actions Spike takes after his transformation is to give his mother eternal life as well, but he only succeeds in transforming her into a monster. Unwilling to lead a vampire’s life, Constance denounces Spike, forcing him to combat. Spike kills his mother, but just before she dies, Constance reverts back to the kind and gentle woman she was – then explodes into dust.

The episode begins shooting on February 7th.

Episode 16 info:
-Wood and Buffy make googly eyes at eachother, and Buffy (as well as the
audience) wonders why they've been wasting so much time looking that the
scripts...I mean, blueprints.

-Spike has his shirt off in Andrew's Spuffy fantasy. She pours milk and
touches his manly pecs. If we see Spike chained up, we'll know Andrew=Marti,
and what does the milk symbolize, other than whatever is happening in
Andrew's pants?

-Xander and Anya have sex, on Spike's cot. They are sad Buffy took the chains
down. Poor Spike. Manipulated, tormented, tortured, and now he has to sleep
in Xanya love juices.

-Andrew (temporarily) saves the world by weeping magic tears onto the Seal of
Improbability. Redeemed, folks, and in only one episode! I'd say it was a
record, but Willow already broke it.

-More W/K kissing. I'm so excited! Everyone just loves this ship!

Right, it is my impression that Wood and Buffy have a "moment". She's calling
him by his first name these days, and he's making suck-up statements to her.
Spike and Buffy barely interact, except for in Andrew's fantasy sequence,
where he describes the heat between them.

Did I mention that Andrew cries on the freakin seal? Since he spilled first
blood there, apparently they need him to stop the emanations of...whatever.
Something. Buffy threatens to stab him, Andrew breaks down about killing
Jonathan. His tears bring a cessation to the Evil.

-Andrew is clearly affected by Xander's work on the windows.

-Yes, Xander and Anya have sex, but she is calling it some kind of closure. I
think it's clear they both still love each other, but she mentions moving on.

-Whatever is emanating from the Seal of Stupidity has powers of possession.
Wood gets briefly possessed, and so do a whole bunch of students.

-Wood makes an attempt to stake Spike in the back while they are both
fighting off said possessed students. He loses the opportunity.

Ok, I have no idea how the Wood/Buffy moment will play onscreen. It could
just be cameraderie. It is my opinion that there could be some shippiness
there, and that they are trying to set up a Wood/Buffy/Spike triangle.
Especially as Wood, while possessed, snaps at Buffy about sleeping with
Spike, and almost spills about his mom.

Also, the camcorder? I don't get it. The entire ep isn't shot through the
camera, and it's not just from Andrew's POV. It seems to be unimportant.

Keeping the Faith: That's apparently what the producers of Buffy are hoping to do, as they have approached Eliza Dushku (aka baddie-turned-goodie Faith) about the possibility of doing a spinoff next fall. Mutant Enemy sources tell me Dushku met with Buffy producers on Wednesday to discuss a Faith show.
Word is that Sarah Michelle Gellar has pretty much decided not to sign on for another season, so Joss Whedon and Co. are heavily weighing spinoff possibilities--and Faith the Vampire Slayer appears to be the front-runner. There's just one issue, though: Does Eliza want to do it?

kathypg says:
Your Angel show was very good. Just wondering who is writing episode
17 of Buffy?
kathypg - That would be myself and Ultimate Drew Goddard. I will
have the honor to direct.
I was going to write it myself, but we're days from shooting and I hate working that hard. Besides, the chance to work with the God-man. Couldn't pass it up.

1. Is Giles in episode 14 or 15?
Giles IS most positivily in episode 14! He explains in this episode how he escaped the Bringers Axe way back when. However, Giles is oddly missing in episode 15...no mention of him whatsoever.

2. Do you have the impression, that Buffy's comment abou Chloe's suicide was especially rude? Or does it read better than it sounds?
"Rude" is not the word I'd choose...more like "cold" and somewhat "hard" is more like it. Here is a segment of that scene I wrote to this board a while ago;

3. How many scenes with FE Jonathan are in episode 14? How does Andrew react to his visit?
We first see The First as Johnathan in Act 2, then again in Act 3. So two scenes.

Act 2
Andrew is setting up a brand new microwave when The First/Johnathan abruptly appears. Johnathan is wearing the same outfit he died in. Andrew is sufficiantly startled, and fumbles in his pocket, pulling out a cross. "Take that, The First..." The First is unimpressed, and passes his hand through the cross, reminding Andrew that it's "not corporeal." It goes on to say that it has an assignment for Andrew...surprisingly, Andrew trys to resist, telling It that "I follow Buffy's orders now," and that he seeks redemptiom. But The First promptly puts that down, and goes onto tell him that as long as It lives, "you can dwell at my side," if Andrew obeys. The First tells him he will only have to hurt the SITs...and asks Andrew "Where did they put the gun?"

1)In 14, who expresses concern for Xander ? Anya ? Willow ? Dawn ?
Well... pretty much everyone who thinks Xander's in trouble seems concerned on some level. Giles, Willow, Dawn...even Andrew and Spike seem a bit concerned. Anya impresses me as just plain jealous...kinda it-serves-him-right kinda attitude.

2)Is Spike using the Xander rescue as a means to break up Buffy's date ? Why doesn't he go on the Xander rescue with Willow and the SITS ?
Personally, (and this is how I PERSONALLY read it as) I think Spike IS a bit anxious to go-get-Buffy. He likely is using the situation to disrupt Buffy's date at least a little bit.
...And Spike DOES go along with Wood and Buffy to rescue Xander from his date-from-hell. Buffy and Spike team up agaist Xander's demon date while Wood frees Xander.

1. I read somewhere that in Ep. 14, Lissa tells Xander something surprising about him and Faith's one night stand. What is it??
You know, there is absolutly nothing I can think of. I truly can't recall anything mentioned on this. Perhaps something was "added" while filming, but I doubt it.

2. I also read somewhere that Wood and Spike are comparing the size of their "knifes". Is there an innduendo here and if so, who appears to win?
Buffy, Wood and Spike stop in Wood's office for a weapons run before going to rescue Xander. Buffy says "We need blades." Wood opens his weapons chest and hands Buffy a knife, "my best one." Wood selects a similar blade for himself, then turns to Spike, "help yourself." Spike selects a blade much larger than the one Wood selected and says, "let's go."

3. Again another question, when Buffy is in the hallway with Spike wearing just a lacy bra is Spike comfortable or is it clear that he turned on?
Turned-on? I'd say no. What I PERSONALLY think is that he's being nobel, though he says he's not...he's trying to convince himself that he's okay with Buffy's dating.

Do they ever give any sort of explanation for Chloe's absence last week and probably for a while?
No. No explaination whatsoever. Sorry.

In light of the rumors from ep 16 that there may be a buffy/wood relationship being set up. Do you think from the spuffiness in ep11-14 that it could be a mislead??

Mislead. Absolute mislead. But, of course, this is only MY opinion, and it could appear different on film than on paper. BUT...based on the script, I'd be personally somewhat surprised if the Buffy/Wood thing panned out. But Time will tell! ;-)

Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:

This week has brought us quite a bit of spoilage for episodes 16 and 17. I have information that confirms all the episode 16 info, and I find the episode 17 info very credible.

Basically, to outline Spike's arc over the next few episodes:

Spike and Buffy continue to build a close relationship. When Spike has a chip malfunction in episode 13, Buffy tries to help him and ultimately makes the decision, revealed in episode 14, to have the chip removed. Giles questions Buffy's feelings for Spike, which Buffy denies. Though she goes on a date with Principal Wood, she later indicates to Spike that she doesn't want Spike to leave town. Meanwhile, Wood is revealed to be the son of Nikki, a Slayer that Spike killed in 1977. In episode 15, Buffy, perhaps reacting badly to the suicide of one of the Potentials, goads Spike, who has lost his bloodlust, into becoming more dangerous, and he eventually finds his discarded leather duster, puts it on, and revels in killing again (though he kills only a demon). Wood learns of Spike's soul and gets information that confirms for him that Spike killed his mother, though he tells no one what he learned. In episode 16, when he and Spike are fighting high school students possessed by the evil of the Hellmouth, Wood tries to stake Spike in the back, but the continuing fighting prevents him from doing so. Wood continues his quest for vengeance against Spike in episode 17, as Spike remembers his mother, whom he sired soon after he was turned.

Check out the wildfeed for episode 13 tomorrow at Leoff's site!
