Slayer or Slayers

It was a quiet and lonely night, Buffy was heading home after going to the Bronze, as she exited the club, 2 vampires followed her. Buffy was a little distracted by the events of tonight, but she did manage to hear the 2 vampires, she found a little back alley and she looked for ammunition, since she forgot to pack a couple of stakes. Luckily, Buffy found a broken chair sticking out of a dumpster, she quickly broke off two of the chair's legs and was ready. She waited. A figure came close. Buffy couldn't help but notice that she heard 2 vampires not 1.

The figure came even closer, only seconds now, Buffy thought.

As the dark shadow emerged from the corner, Buffy gasped. To her surprise, she was looking at a girl in a beautiful long white dress, her age maybe 1 or 2 years older, identical to herself.

Buffy began to speak " Wh-Wh-Who are you?"

The girl spoke, also in an identical voice as Buffy's " You are the Slayer Buffy Summers, am I right?"

"Yeah, that's right. And you are?"

" That doesn't matter, well at least not yet"

"Well it matter's to me! Look, you look like me, I think I’d have the right to know who you are!" Buffy said with a hint of anger.

"I'll tell you later, have you met a vampire known as Angelus or Angel, his modern name?"

"Yes, he and I …well ." Buffy trailed off.

"Can you take me to him, it's VERY important."

" Only if you tell me your name and why you want to find Angel?"

" I'll explain on the way" said the girl in an urgent manner.

Meeting for the First or is it…Second Time

The girl had explained that she was to find Angel and give him something, but she didn't say what. Some trust had formed and Buffy loosened up.

"By the way, what’s your name?" Asked Buffy.

"It’s Celeste"

Buffy and Celeste arrived at the front door of Angel’s home. Buffy had told Celeste that Angel lived there and that she didn't want to go with her because of some reasons, Celeste didn't ask what they were, since she was kinda in a hurry, Buffy took almost immediately after Celeste disappeared down the stairs.

Celeste turned the doorknob, it was locked. She tried a little harder and broke the lock, by accident. Angel heard someone coming in and was surprised that Buffy and he would be meeting so soon. Something must be wrong, thought Angel.

"Buffy? What's wrong?" Asked Angel.

" Angelus, I'm not Buffy"

" Buffy what are you trying to prove? And why are you calling me Angelus all of a sudden, you know I don't go by that name anymore?"

"As I said before I'm not Buffy, don't you remember me Angel?" Celeste’s eyes were almost pleading

" Well whoever you are, you look like a friend I have, her name is Buffy."

" I have met Buffy, she is identical to me." said Celeste, still in hope for Angel to remember her.

"Oh okay, what can I do for you um….."

" Celeste"

" Hmm .. That name, it's very familiar."

There was a short pause. " Damnit! I thought the spell would have worn off by now, I guess I'll have to explain now"

"Spell??" Said a quite confused Angel.

"Yes, 50 years ago, I met you, You knew I was the slayer for that generation and you wanted to join me to slay all the vampires, because you felt bad about the things you have done before. It was going pretty well for us, then we fell in love, shortly after I was prophesied to meet the Master and slay him. And as to all slayers, this is where they usually ‘get off’. You didn't want the Master to kill me. So in the court of the Master, you pretended to volunteer to drain the life out of me, of course you wanted to save me by making me a vampire just in case the Master didn't believe you, but when you did, you lost control and accidentally killed me. The Master was very pleased. Later on, I awoke in the court, no one was in sight, and that was the time I realized I was born half-human and half-immortal. You felt grief when …."

" I killed you and I retreated to my home. I remember, Celeste. OH! That's probably why I felt a certain familiarity when I met Buffy. "

" I saw you and felt your pain and remorse so I had cast a spell for you to forget the existence of me. That's why you didn't remember me. I thought the spell would've been gone by now. So that was why I came to you. I came to give you something Angel……. Immortality."

Immortality

"What?!? Immortality?!? I am immortal, and I’m cursed with it." Exclaimed Angel

"No, I mean true immortality. The kind that let's you be free and not live like a demon, no more needs for blood or living in the dark."

" Really? You could do that?"

"Yes, but we need a witness. How about Buffy?"

" I dunno about this. But let's go find her!"

Angel and Celeste went to find Buffy.

They went to Buffy's house, but stopped at the front door. Angel didn't think it was such a good idea going in through the front door because Buffy's mom would probably think that Celeste was Buffy.

So Celeste suggested to jumped up to Buffy's window quietly, but that woke Buffy up instantly.

"Celeste?? What's going on? Geez it's 3:30 some am!" Buffy yawned

" Buffy, hurry get dressed, Angel and I are going to the Sunnydale Cemetery and we need you there."

" Okay, just a second."

Celeste jumped down and back outside. Buffy followed shortly.

The Beauty of a Sunrise

The trio arrived at the mausoleum of the Cemetery. Celeste painted a thick layer of holy water on all the gates. Then she took out a little gold jar with tiny flower carvings on it, a dagger and a small bottle of water from her backpack. She poured the water in the jar, and was conjuring something up. She took the dagger and pricked her second finger. Blood came out and Celeste dropped exactly 5 drops into the jar in a triangle formation. Then Celeste wiped the blood from her finger and surprisingly it healed instantly. After that, Celeste asked Angel to drink from the jar. Angel hesitated thinking this was too good to be true, but did. Celeste then said "Before Good and Evil. I CALL UPON THE GUARDIANS OF THE 5 ELEMENTS. TIME, MYTH, MYSTIQUE, ETERNITY, ETHEREAL! HEAR ME OH GREAT ONES." Celeste then recited something that sound like Latin, but not quite it. "I CELESTE OF 9 AND BY THE POWER OF THE ELEMENTS CAST THY DEMON OFF!!!"

There was a rainbow colored strip of light coming from the jar and it zapped Angel. Pain suddenly hit Angel, Buffy tended to him. Angel was all right after a while, but a little weakened. The sun was rising, fear struck Angel immediately. Celeste saw that Angel had a frightened expression on his face. Then she took Angel and lead him outside, "It's all right" she whispered.

Buffy followed them and went outside, Angel put his arm around Celeste for balance.

" Wow! Sunrise. I never thought I’d see it ever again!" Exclaimed Angel as he kissed Celeste.

"What was that for?" Celeste said in a playful way.

"Thank you" He kissed her again, this time longer.

Buffy’s jealousy peaked and just wanted to go in there and break up their intimate moment. But the thought of Celeste giving Angel immortality, made her stop.

Introductions

"Oh no! My mom's gonna FREAK if she found out I was out all night.. er day.. er yeah!"

"Don't worry Buffy, you'll be home in time. Trust me." Celeste reassured Buffy.

The trio left the scene and headed towards Buffy's home. Buffy managed to sneak in. It was a Monday so Buffy had to go to school. Angel and Celeste followed Buffy to the library where they were going to introduce Celeste to Giles.

In the Library, Giles was reading a book as usual. Celeste hid for some strange reason.

" Buffy?" said Giles.

"Hi Giles, I bought someone with…."

Giles gasped, " Angel! I-I-It's broad daylight! Your…. Your not…"

" I'll explain later. But that’s not all. Celeste? Where are you?" said Buffy

Celeste showed herself.

"This is your twin Buffy?? I never knew you had a twin." Giles said in a surprised tone.

" I didn't either, until tonight." replied Buffy

"The resemblance is remarkable"

"Look Giles, Celeste will explain, I've gotta get to class… it’s gonna look bad, I’ve missed Biology 3 days in a row. Bye"

" Hi! Um as you know I'm Celeste and .." Celeste explained that she was a previous slayer slash sorceress, the events that lead her to Sunnydale, and that she was the one who turned Angel into an immortal, like herself, so Angel could once live among mortals again.

" One thing still troubles me Celeste, if you aren't Buffy's twin how come you two look so much alike?" Questioned Giles.

" I'm not quiet sure of that myself, I guess it was a freak accident that we look identical… or something like that."

In the afternoon, Buffy, Willow and Xander met at the Library. Angel and Celeste were stuck with research on who or what Buffy might face next, it was a major bore. Buffy showed up first, then Xander and Willow. As the two walked in, they saw Angel and were both in shock.

"Your a vampire, in daylight, that's not good right? Um Willow, is it me or am I seeing two Buffys? " Xander managed to spit out.

" I ….don't know." Willow replied, still in shock.

" Okay, in a way you are seeing two Me’s." Buffy said in a calm voice

" Well, I'm an immortal and I turned Angel into one and I look exactly like Buffy, even though we're around 70 years apart in age, I was too a slayer once, um…. And that about covers everything. Oh yeah my name's Celeste" Said Celeste.

Xander and Willow's minds were filled with questions of how, when, what and why.

"Okay … um this is pretty hard to swallow here…." Said Xander.

" So how do we tell you apart?" Willow and Xander said in unison.

Everyone looked at Celeste and Buffy.

"I dunno….But we’ll figure something out… I guess" Answered Buffy.

Little Hints

"No! No! No! I can’t let you do this! And you know it!" Yelled Celeste.

"You can’t stop me. Your helpless against me and mine!" A rough and angry voice of a male yelled back.

"But you just can’t!"

"Why? You left me there that night and It’s pay-back time, Baby!"

"That’s why you’re here isn’t it?!? You want revenge…."

"Finally figured it out…. You can’t keep me from this for long. Be seeing you cutie." He said laughing a cruel laugh, then there was a loud slamming of a door.

Slayers need Vacations

Celeste had a very good technique of persuading people. She even got Giles to budge. Since Buffy asked her to get Giles to let her spend a day with Angel now that they could.

"Giles?"

"Uh.. Buffy? Or are you Celeste?" asked Giles

"I’m Celeste." She answered.

"Yes, what is it?"

"Well, you know how Buffy is the slayer and all…. Maybe she should take a day off or two… you know to relax and all. It’s terribly stressing, and I should know, I was there." Said Celeste

"But as the slayer she has her duties. It’s her Destiny."

"Giles.. come on. She hunts like every night and personally, having to worry about certain killer pointy-toothed demons aren’t exactly what dreams are made of."

"Well…" Giles hesitated.

"Please" Celeste gave him a puppy-face pout.

"But what if there’s a vampire raiding party on the loose while she’s gone off to relaxing? And what about school?"

"Well I’m always here and very happy to make our vampire fiend’s lives a living hell. Also, I’ll take her classes for her and all.. I mean I don’t mind…. Unless I have no idea what they’re talking about."

"Um… Well…" Giles was still hesitant and was sorta impressed at Celeste’s points. Reluctantly he said yes.

"Thanks!" Celeste smiled and ran off.

"Celeste? Were are you going?"

"To tell Buffy the great news!"

It’s was lunch time and Buffy, Willow and Xander gathered around a table at the cafeteria, and where talking about going to the Bronze.

"So are we Bronzing tonight?" Asked Xander.

"Sure.. " Said Buffy

"Will?" Xander asked.

"Yeah.. I guess.. but we really should be studying on that biology test were having tomorrow.." Willow trailed off.

"Whoa.. what test? Said Xander

"The one Mr. Wyle talked about 2 weeks ago." Said Willow.

Celeste then entered the room.

"Hi everyone! Buffy guess what…" Rang Celeste.

Buffy Gasped "You got him to let me off for a day?"

"Uh-huh." Said Celeste

"Wow! Your good! And thank you thank you thank you!"

"Um… I’m not exactly understanding what’s going on here" Said Xander.

"Well Celeste got Giles to let me take a day or so off." Said Buffy.

"Oh…. Goodie." Xander said Dryly

"You guys, I have be somewhere right now… so I’ll see ya later k?"

"Wait… Celeste? Do you want to come to the Bronze with us tonight?" Asked Willow.

"Bronze?" Said Celeste.

"Um… you know where Angel lives." Said Buffy.

"Oh sure! Well I’m off." Celeste said in a hurry.

Little Hints (2)

"Hello Dearest" The same mysterious voice of a male said.

"Ok.. I’m here now, William. What do you want?" Said Celeste.

"I just need something from you." he said.

"If I give it to you… will you stop haunting us?"

"Define haunting" He said teasingly.

"Celeste, Why won’t you help us, we’re your friends." Said a faint female voice.

Celeste Gasped as the sight of the female. "What happened to her?!"

"She okay, for now. Back to what I was saying.. I need something from you." He said.

"What?"

"The Livian Necklace"

"The Livian Necklace?!?" Exclaimed Celeste.

"Yes.. I’ll leave you in peace if you give it to me" he said in a calm voice.

"Is that was happened to her… Well I’ll have to go get it."

"What? You don’t have it with you always?" He asked with out-rage.

"Of course not! What do you think I’m stupid?" Said Celeste. She paused "Give me some time to think about it okay?"

"You’ve got 30 hours until the next sundown.. use it well." He Said.

The Bronze

It’s was 8:53 pm. The trio and Angel were at the Bronze. They were playing a slow song, "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan, and Angel asked Buffy to Dance.

Spend all your time waiting, for that chance
For a break that would make it okay
There’s always some reason, to feel not good enough
And it’s hard at the end of the day.

I need some distraction, oh beautiful release
Memory seep from my vains
Let my be empty
Oh weight-less and maybe I’ll find some peace tonight.

In the arms of an Angel
Fly away from here…

It was heavily raining outside and Celeste arrive to the Bronze, semi-soaked even though she brought and umbrella.

"Hi!" Said Celeste.

"Hello. Wow! Your practically soaked" said Willow.

Xander was too busy watching Buffy and Angel.

"Hey.. Where’s Buffy?.. oh nevermind." Asked Celeste.

"Yeah.. Angel’s Buffy’s ‘special friend’" Said Xander in jealousy.

"Don’t mind him…" Willow said quickly.

Celeste smiled at her.

The Storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lie
That you make up for all that you lack.

It don’t make no different
Escape on last time, it’s easier to believe
In this sweet madness,
Oh this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

"What ya doing there Willow?" Asked Celeste.

"I’m studying for a test.. um Biology." Answered Willow.

"Oh.. is Buffy gonna take it tomorrow?"

"Supposedly"

"Oooh.. Can’t you past me a book."

"Why?" Asked Willow.

"Remember, Buffy’s taking a day or so off.. so I’m planning to fill in for her."

"What? She gets to miss class too… Man I do hope I had a twin." Said Xander.

In the Arms of the Angel
May you Find…
Some comfort here.

The Song was over.

"Hey Celeste! Glad you made it." Said Buffy.

"Yeah" Agreed Angel.

"You know what.. I’ve got to study for this test that Willow told me about…I think I’ll opt. Out of partying for tonight." Said Celeste.

Mistake #1

A Week Later. Everything had gone to plan the past week and Buffy actually got the whole week off.

"Celeste.. um I don’t think the spell worked." Said Angel.

"Why?"

"I can still turn into my vampire face."

"How old are you right now?" Asked Celeste.

"241" answered Angel.

"Uh-oh…Since the spell only works for Demons that are 200 years and under.. that a mini side effect."

"But that’s it right?" Asked Angel.

"Uh.. there’s maybe more" Celeste shrank back. "There’s temporary blindness sometimes when your in the sun… and it’s possible for you to turn back into a vampire… a souless one"

"What?!? But you said.."

"Yeah.. I know.. but I forgot to do my math. And I was so excited to see you and…." She trailed off.

"Alright. So what now.."

"I’ll see what I can do okay.. but now you have to tell Buffy. Just incase.. well you know."

"Where are you going?" asked Angel.

"To find a cure." Celeste left.

Angel didn’t have any further vampire reminders, except for occasional Vampire-face changing. Celeste had disappeared for weeks, months even. But 4 and a half months later, Angel receive an envelope with a letter enclosed with a ring.

Angel my love,

I have certain obligations that prevent me from being there with you. I’m truly sorry for what I have done to you. I recently realized that the spell had cast is only temporary for a year since you are older then 200. But I have found this ring. It gives you the power to be a true immortal. Eventually you will become immortal….Without the ring. But once you put the ring on, it won’t come off until you are ready. I understand that you and Buffy… are together. I won’t lie to you, it hurts a lot . And I do wish that things could be different. But all the magic in the universe can’t change fate. I will never forget you.

In conclusion, I am sorry for what I’m about to do. It’s for the greater good… No, I’m lying... it isn’t, but you see I have no choice but to believe it is, for the sake of my conscience. Please find it in your heart to forgive me. I promise our paths will cross again.

P.S. Beware of William the Bloody and your most evil ‘previous’ obsession. You will soon encounter them. I know this because it will be the result of my actions. I’m terribly sorry.
